I love this guitar. I never even heard of Mitchell. Then it came up in a stupid deal of the day, and the you tube videos sold me on it. I wasn't so sure about the lime green, but it grew in me. It arrived totally set up ready to play. No sending it off to the guitar shop for setup for this beauty. The action is almost too low. The neck is slippery and thin. The frets have ample room for my fat fingers. The Floyd Rose is amazing quality although a bit tricky to tune until you get used to it and the strings get stretched. Locks at the nut and fine tune thumbscrews down at the bridge. Pretty cool. I have a Gibson SG, 2 Epiphone Les Pauls including an ultra II which I really love, a Dean vendetta, 2 strats, but this Mitchell is the one I grab first. It's just fun to play and sounds awesome. Mitchell claims to have a computer automated setup process that every guitar goes through. I would definitely buy another Mitchell, it's that awesome, and very very adorable. I don't buy ridiculously expensive guitars. But I did spring for a real Gibson SG a while back. When it arrived, I was surprised how much setup work it needed. I mean you'd think an $1100 Gibson would arrive ready to play. But nope. I learned how to set the action, the relief, and the intonation on my Gibson. Which was fun once I had the necessary tools and a little practice. But this Mitchell didn't need any of that. The Floyd Rose has individual string height adjustment via Allen wrench and this guitar came with 5 Allen wrenches. So it you want to personalize the feel, have at it. One thing that was a little noticable is the frets actually stick out a little beyond the neck. With a thin neck like this, I guess a little more fret allows bending without falling off the edge. But when I run my hand up and down the neck, I can feel the fret overhang. It doesn't bother me while playing it. I guess it actually helps me.

Guitar arrived in good shape, finish really nice, love the lime green with the maple fretboard. Neck is raw, nice and flat, but fret ends were really sharp and had to be filed. Guitar is well built, fairly heavy, with pretty decent pickups and electronics. Floyd rose stays in tune well. Have not been able to get really low action without fret buzz even after multiple setup attempts. Believe guitar will have to have a fret level job to play really nice. Overall not a bad guitar, but there are better quality guitars for the price. Bought a Washburn Nuno N2PSK from MF a couple years ago for same price and it had much better initial quality. Even came with a gig bag.

Comments about Mitchell HD400 Hard Rock Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

This guitar is great. I didn't even have to change the pickups, which is something I did with both made in korea ibanez guitars I own. The humbucker pickups remind me a bit of the di marzio evolutions I had for years on an ibanez. Neck is awesome, I love the cutaways on the body. Floyd special is better than the "licensed" trems that came with my ibanez guitars. Normally when I play my personal style, I use my 7 string.....but when I m in an 80s rock or pop mood, I pick this thing up every time.

Great guitar for the price. If you are looking for an inexpensive guitar that shreds look no further. Only criticism I have was the bridge was not set up properly, but was easy to fix if you know how to work with a Floyd Rose. Great dirty and clean tone and smooth playability.

Comments about Mitchell HD400 Hard Rock Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

Bought the blue, open box, great deal. Tiny bit of fret buzz on the lower strings below the 5th fret, but no biggie, easy to fix. Neck need a HAIR of relief, intonation is reasonably close. The quilting is excellent, what you expect for AAA. Not AAAAA, but AAA. Neck feel is good, like a barely thicker Ibanez neck, slick like raw wood. Fretboard is definitely flat. A little bit of rough edges on the frets, might be dry, but regardless, it isn't too bad. Basically, it needs a simple setup, which you should expect at this price range. Now the good: Excellent Floyd system. Pickups are "good to very good", and for most people, more than good enough. Positions 2/3/4 have super nice clean tones that remind you of a Strat, because they are wired that way. Quacky in 2/4. The buckers are fairly articulate, sound good with a wide variety of gain. Might not be my first choice for clean tones, but they are good enough. Looks are spot on. You would think this is a much more expensive guitar (and I'm a Gibson/Fender snob). I bought it because I wanted ONE guitar with a Floyd Rose, to play with and rock out on. It needs a standard new guitar setup, but I'm confident that once that is done, I will be keeping it around for some heavy metal, dive bombing fun. I don't gig anymore, but if I did, I would drag it up to play a couple old 80s hair band songs, no problem.

Comments about Mitchell HD400 Hard Rock Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

When i was young a guitar that played as well as this would of cost much more. Just like all guitars from the Orient it needed to be set up, regardless if they claim it has a state side set up., but it wasn't far out of wack. Frets are smooth and polished, pickups sound fine for the mean time. This is a large guitar and might not fit in your existing case. Be prepared to be happily surprised.
