OVERVIEW

(Open Box) The snap of a bolt-on neck with PRS features and craftsmanship.

Since the dawn of rock and roll, the snap and response that comes from a bolt-on neck guitar has been an essential part of the mix. These attributes have, in turn, become essential to many players trying to tell their story through music.

The CE 24 brings the bolt-on platform back to the main PRS lineup with some significant updates. The CE 24 pairs PRS’s traditional body combination of the mahogany back and maple top with a bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The neck sports a Pattern Thin carve and satin nitro finish for a natural, addictive feel.

To further maximize the guitar’s inherent tone and clarity, the CE 24 features PRS 85/15 pickups, which Paul designed to have remarkable clarity as well as extended high and low end. The electronics consist of a volume and push/pull tone control with 3-way toggle switch for a total of six classic sounds.

The original CE was to introduced in 1988 and offered players PRS design and quality with the added snap and sparkle of traditional bolt-on guitars. Returning after nearly a decade of being out of the lineup, the CE 24 is back and better than ever.

Expected the Guitar to be New - Got Used Stock

Comments about PRS CE 24 Electric Guitar:

This was my third purchase from MF. Up until now, I was a satisfied customer. I fully expected a new guitar. That "open box" monologue they spin is obviously false. I received a guitar that looked as if it had been a floor model on the lower rack--easy to grab, easy to dent and scratch. I called customer service the day I got it. To my surprise, they wouldn't pay shipping. I sent the guitar back on my dime, which amounted to about 75.00 uninsured. Hear that sound? That's me cutting up my Musician's Friend card.

Comments about PRS CE 24 Electric Guitar:

It's a Paul Reed Smith. Shouldn't the guitar be playable? I've been playing over 40 years and had a couple of PRS guitars and they were good playing guitars. Not this one. Very disappointing.

Comments about PRS CE 24 Electric Guitar:

I own several PRSi, and I love them. Outside of an S2 Vela, and a Santana SE, the rest are core models, including a 1991 CE Custom 24. I have never had an issue with any of them...until I tried to buy a new CE-24. The first one they sent me was dinged up, the nut was poorly installed, and the neck was out of "true", meaning it was poorly mounted. Needless to say, I sent it back. Two weeks later, I received another one. I opened it up, picked it up, tuned it up, and tried to play an F chord...it buzzed, really bad. I felt around the back of the headstock and the splice was raised up! It is a 3 piece join, like the S2's, but this was unbelievable...and it was set up with 10's! The neck was like a rubber band, and I was afraid it would snap, if I tried to play it! I sent this one back, and am now waiting on a new core model, that I ordered. I hate to say this, but the new CE's are nowhere near as good as the older ones, and I would order an se, or an S2, before I would ever buy another one of these. I've been a player for 40+ years, and am an authorized Fender and Gibson repairman. I have played a few of these in stores, since then, and have found it to be a systemic problem. I imagine there are some good ones out there, but unfortunately, I didn't get one of those. I will add one positive: the pickups on these are amazing! The first one I got had great tone, and I definitely love the 85/15 pickups!

Comments about PRS CE 24 Electric Guitar:

This is an amazing instrument! The sustain is unbelievable... the 85/15 pickups have a warm smooth sounds and the coil tap gives you 6 different tones to choose from. I played this guitar next to the PRS Top 10 $3600 guitar and this one had better sounds and tone quality.. Don't let the bolt on neck sway your thoughts it sounds great.. The neck is wide and flat and begs to be played, the satin finish on the neck is silky smooth. I could not find one mistake in the finish or craftsmanship on the guitar. The quality is top notch. String height is better than most guitars from the factor, not high but not extremely low either. Best of all no buzzing frets...... it comes with 10s which was different I usually play 9s but only took a couple days to get use to.. if I could only have one guitar this would be it... its just that nice!

Comments about PRS CE 24 Electric Guitar:

I originally bought the Tremonti SE about 2 months ago... it looked beautiful, sounded good, and was easy to play but the thing did not stay in tune for more than just a few minutes at a time. I don't think it was a setup issue either. I wanted to love it but ended up exchanging it for the CE24. You know what...It was totally worth it. This thing feels better, sounds better, plays better, and absolutely stays in tune any place on the fret board even after hours of playing. A chord just feels more solid when strumming it...if that even makes sense.

Comments about PRS CE 24 Electric Guitar:

I've had my vintage sunburst CE 24 for about a month now. It was set up well when I got it. I only had to make a couple small adjustments to intonation. It has it's own tone, it doesn't sound like a Fender or a Gibson. It's my first choice for hard rock and classic rock. The 85/15 pickups have lots of definition, even with gain. The neck is perfect. Fretwork is polished and my CE 24 has lots of sustain. I like that it's shipped with .010 strings. I have .010 or .011 strings on all my electric guitars now. People who are used to .009 gauge can get used to .010 gauge if they work at it. Heavier gauge = better tone. All in all, the CE 24 is a sweet rock machine that's a perfect match for my new Marshall JVM that I bought from Musician's Friend. I bought this guitar at a store in town so I played it before I bought it. The workmanship is excellent and the maple figuring is above average. This guitar is better built than most Gibsons I've owned.

Comments about PRS CE 24 Electric Guitar:

I bought my first PRS ten years ago, when I had never heard of them. That was a tough decision when the only guitars I did buy were Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, and Guild. But once I bought that first Standard 22, I had to have more. I still own it, even though it's not built any any longer. It still sounds and looks great. Next, I'd love to own a hollow body.
