OVERVIEW

Thin body with generous cutaway plus quality electronics makes this a highly accessible studio or stage instrument.

The SE Alex Lifeson Thinline acoustic is a road-worthy guitar for players in need of a stage- and studio-ready instrument. Carrying over its unique appointments from the Private Stock Alex Lifeson acoustic, this model features a thinner body depth than PRS™ standard Angelus model and the œBirds in Flight inlay design.

The thinner body provides an added level of comfort for players and boasts PRS™ proprietary bracing pattern, which gives this guitar a resonance and warmth not found in some thinline models. The addition of an undersaddle pickup with both volume and tone controls gives this guitar a warm acoustic tone when amplified. As with all SE Series guitars, the Alex Lifeson Thinline acoustic is a quality instrument and a great value.

œI was very pleased when PRS presented me with my SE Angelus acoustic, a beautiful guitar of stunning quality. It was in response to the challenge of building a guitar that shared the integrity and attention to detail that the Alex Lifeson Private Stock Angelus possesses in a package more broadly accessible. The SE Alex Lifeson Thinline is that model. Carefully selected materials, expert craftsmanship and a smart approach to concept resulted in a guitar that is beautiful to look at and rewarding to play. - Alex Lifeson

I have had this guitar for two weeks now. I bought it based on Alex Lifeson's name and PRS's reputation. I have a PRS SC 250 already and was very interested in getting an acoustic PRS to test out.

The guitar is thinner than most, and is easier to hold versus a dreadnought model for example. The sound is very bright and cheery and likely due to the smaller form factor. The action is excellent and required no modification.

The battery to the pickup is located inside the sound hole, making it a bear to change. There is no onboard pickup, which most new models come standard with these days. I know that this last complaint is irrelevant to most, but I have gotten spoiled with my Breedlove bridge-threaded strings versus the pegs that most acoustic guitars use to hold strings in the bridge.

Overall, the guitar is beautiful, plays well, and sounds good. Pick one up if you want a collectors item that plays well, however if I had to choose between my Breedlove stage dreadnought and this, I'd pay the extra and get the Breedlove.

I like PRG equipment but this guitar is not so great even for a SE line acoustice. My main beef is that the sound is as thin as the body making this an on stage electric pony. The thin sound was similar to the epi hummingbird and cheaper guitars. Sorry. to say but the Paul Reed Smith acoustic is great and 10 x as much

Comments about PRS SE Alex Lifeson Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I sold my Taylor 114 (another great guitar) to pick up this beauty as I don't need two. I initially purchased an open box item but there was a small almost imperceptible cupping at the high part of the neck that caused a small amount of fret buzz. The good folks at MF couldn't have been more helpful in getting me a great discount on a new one. The new one is flawless. For a guitar in this price category, I don't know of a better one in terms of craftsmanship, PRS makes a beautiful instrument. That being said, I bought it because having picked up a couple in some local guitar shops, I knew that this guitar suited me perfectly. Does it have that big boomy Martin sound? Nope, but it's got plenty of tone and volume for a shallow body, and sounds even better plugged in. The thing that really sells me on this though is the incredible playability. The action is perfect, the neck is so comfortable, it just makes playing so much fun. I feel like if beginning players could have something like this, they would be far less likely to give up like so many do. Now I need to pair this up with one of their electrics :-)

Comments about PRS SE Alex Lifeson Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This an easy grab and go acoustic with a fast easy playing neck similar to my electrics. Very lightweight even when in the case. The guitar required no set up and was good to go right out of the box.

Comments about PRS SE Alex Lifeson Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Only complaint I had was finding the controls (volume, tone) for the electronics. There was no instruction sheet provided with the guitar, which I purchased new. I found the location on-line, just inside the sound hole. Also, the battery placement looks like it could be very difficult to access. One reviewer said that the store he purchased the guitar from showed him an easy way to get to the cloth battery pocket (cloth battery pocket??!!) without removing the strings. It would be nice if PRS provided those same instructions with the guitar.

Will enjoy playing this very comfortable and amazingly warm instrument, with weekly use at church worship and Sunday school classes. Clean and crisp, with no boominess -
excellent craftsmanship from an import. Great to learn about the SE line from PRS.

Comments about PRS SE Alex Lifeson Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar unheard on a whim since Lifeson is one of my guitar heroes over his lengthy career. I am 52 years old and have always held the entire Rush band in great admiration to talent and consistent creativity. Upon receiving this idol model I was blown away by the PRS SE model. Compared to some of my past 3-4k guitars I couldn't help but marvel at the current low cost and high value guitars on the market today. This one impressed me so much that I immediately bought another PRS SE Series acoustic in the A30E model. Sure enough, the other model was even better acoustically due to its deeper body. I was sad to see that the A10E models are all sold out or I would be buying one of those too. I just wish that the pixie dust used to make this SE series could be used for my talent abilities so I could play more like Lifeson.

If You want a nice sounding and looking acoustic/electric than get one for Yourself. It has a very study hard shell case as well.
