I played one of these guitars once about 4 years ago, I thought it was very nice but never really had enough to spend on a new guitar. When I saw them on sale I nearly pooped myself after 4 years I finally got my guitar!
These are very much like a fender strat in price, quality, and flexability. Yes, these guitars are quite flexible in what you can make them do, but with the EMGs it's defiantly geared more towards high gain tones. You can get some sweet sounding dark clear tones, when you throw in some effects/pedals your only limited by your mind what you want it to sound like. Neck pickups are ok for soloing, bridge pickups are great for more like a Maiden like tone. Keeping them both selected gives you the more heavy kind of distortion and I think adds more flavor to solos then with just the neck pups.
Build quality is just fine, everything lines up, all the frets are the same size everything is smooth. It's what you'd expect for the price.
Now based on my opinions and preferences, I'd like the neck to be a bit flatter. Especially up by the first frets it feels to round. This is the only guitar I have without a satin oil finish in the neck. Sometimes I REALLY miss that. Some people really hate it but I really love it. I didn't realize it would run in batteries but duh, they're active pickups. I've had it about 2 months and the generic battery is ships with is still running strong and I play this guitar a pretty good amount. I wish the bridge was the other way around, after a month I checked the intonation, went to crank on one of the strings a bit, and the screws face up towards the neck. I think it just makes it more difficult.
All and all this guitar is what you'd expect for the price. If your into metal, rock, or anything with high gain I whole heartedly recommend this guitar. It sounds great for anything from black sabbath to Sepultura. I haven't drop tuned it yet though. Anyway if you're more into jazz, or anything you'd play with a clean channel, probably up to classic rock, I'd think a Fender Strat would be more what you'd want.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
It's great to be pleasantly surprised when you open a package and what you ordered is way more than you expected. Not really that surprised because a friend had just bought an immaculate C1 Hellraiser from a pawn shop so I new the quality and perfection of his guitar. I took a gamble and dropped down one notch and bought the Damien. I have a few very high end electrics and the Damien outshines them all, for $500. It's almost a joke. The neck is perfect, the fretboard and inlays are perfect. The build is the best I've seen, the balance is perfect, and it's also gorgeous with a polyester resin clearcoat (Schecter's website), the same finish that Taylor uses on their guitars. Oh, the EMG 81/85 Active Pickups setup are the best that I've ever played. I love fast necks and this one is lightening fast with very low action. Thanks.

I really liked this guitar since the first time i saw it (I got the MBK style). When I played it, I realized it was the best buy I could have done, a great tone and quality of sound I had been looking for. The inlays are so nice, it's a guitar so light you won't never get tired for play with it. I'm convinced that was my best choice to buy.

Very pleased with this guitar. I am no expert, but this is the nicest I have owned as of yet. Superb finish, factory setup was just fine for me. Playing through a Roland 40xl. I cant see anyone being dissapointed with this fine instrument. The stainded cross inlays look fantastic. Looking for a "metal" guitar? This is it.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
I have played guitar for about 8 years and in that period I have played a plethora of different guitars. I had never played a schecter before purchasing the Damien and, after receiving it, I can now say with absolute certainty that schecter makes a fine quality instrument. The frets were all filed perfectly, the neck was smooth and felt great, the pickups are incredible, and the Floyd rose is amazing. The EMGs sound great in any setting and for any style of music, and I beat that Floyd mercilessly and it keeps the guitar wonderfully in tune. I had wanted this guitar for two years before I actually manned up and bought it and I wish I had bought it sooner. Its a great quality axe at a killer price. Get it!
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
First let me just say that this is a "Metal" guitar so it does sound more of a metal tone even in clean straight through your amp. My friend owns this guitar and we perform on stage and switch off sometimes i have to use his because i need it as a spare, so i know it well enough to say that this guitar is amazing and worth buying. I am thinking about buying one myself once i save up the money, Great deal on Great offer...
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
I just got this guitar today and I am instantly in love with it. Straight out of the box I was stunned by its beauty. In my 6 years of playing Ive also owned an ESP and a Dean and neither came close to the Schecter that I had gotten as my first guitar. This made me decide to get another Schecter. Initially I wanted the C1 Hellraiser, but decided to get the Elite because of the EMG 81/85 set up right out of the box. Im very satisfied with my decision. The guitar plays great and sounds even better. I literally play all types of music and this guitar sounds great playing them all. The only thing Im going to play with is the action because it came a little too high for my taste, but that is easily done. Buy this guitar, you wont regret it!
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
OK so I got this guitar 4 Christmas a few days ago and when I first saw it the looks blew me away, it a just an amazing looking guitar(I got the crimson red version). The EMG pickups sound amazing, and it never goes out of tune! This is my 2nd electric guitar, if u have been playing for 4+ years get this guitar it ROCKS!
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
This guitar is beautifully crafted. The only problem is that all my friends and band mates are jealous. Playing, I realized it sounded a lot like my Epiphone SG-G400, then I put Ernie Ball power slinkies on it and it sung like a goddess. No matter what you play, this guitar will do what you want it to. This guitar is definitely worth the money. Buy one!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
I should have listened to people a long time ago. I never gave schecter the time of day. They were a new company and I was stuck in my ways. Went to a shop looking for an Ibanez iron label and left fallen in love with schecter guitars. The necks are so fast and smooth. It just feels and sounds like the guitars you see your heroes holding in the magazines. You know you see the picture and you think man I bet that thing feels and sounds so good. Well this one hits it on the head perfectly.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
I heard about Schecter on a recommendation from a friend, and I don't know that I have thanked him enough for introducing me to the start of this great relationship! I got the guitar in Crimson Red and it is probably one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever held in my life. I was even more blown away when I plugged it into my amp. The sound quality was incredible. I started with a heavier rock sound with some distortion and the deep thrum of heavy notes was amazing.
After playing a little while, I decided to try it out with a cleaner sound. It was equally astounding. The notes sang through my practice room as clear as can be. I have played around with all sorts of different settings and it doesn't cease to amaze me. I think this is the start of a beautiful relationship.
Thank you Schecter Guitar Research and thank you Musicians Friend!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
I bought this guitar as an absolute beginner and so far have been very impressed. I've been progressing rather quickly and I attribute a lot of that to the playability of this guitar. I checked out a lot of different guitars locally before purchasing this guitar. It felt the most balanced and the jumbo frets make playing easier. The guitar feels rock-solid and I love the see-through black finish. This may be out of the price range for a lot of beginners, but if you have the extra money I can't recommend it enough.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
About a year ago, I was looking for a guitar that was a step or two up from my first guitar. It didnt take me long to notice this see-thru black beauty at [@]. I picked it up and loved the feel and playability of it. It is a great guitar for metal, as most Schecters are, and also creates a good tone for clean and distorted. Ihave had it for a couple months now and I have had no problems so far. A great guitar for the $$$

I was expecting to get that really fat tone, and I got my wish. What was a pro of this guitar was that it had a nice look, and the sound sweetens the deal. Get it, you won't regret it.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
This guitar sounds great and feels great. It looks awesome and is an excellent value. However I ordered two of them and both of the fretboards have blemishes on them. I returned one becuase the wood stain was blemished the entire length of the fretbaord. the other guitar has a smaller blemish at the 7th fret and isn't so bad so I kept that one. I guess its impossible to keep these guitars at this point and have total quality control. I believe in the past schecter would identify these blemished products and sell them as B stock seconds.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
I just bought this guitar and i fell in love with it! its beautiful, has amazing sound quality, and has a neck for effortless playing. it looks amazing in see thru black and also in crimson red and the other colors. the fret inlays are beautiful and the tone pro through body bridge makes great sound and sustain. all the greatness of a hellraiser c-1 (accept the thru body neck, the damien has a bolt on neck) but for much less! my best investment yet! you will love this guitar!
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite Electric Guitar:
I received this guitar today in the mail. I plugged it in and noticed immediately the difference in tone between this and my old guitar, however there wasn't much difference. At first, I was worried that the EMGs wouldn't live up to their hype, nor would the guitar itself, but then I remembered that the guitar was euipped with D'addario strings, which I have always found to have a very dull tone and are hard to bend. So, I swapped them with a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinkies and instantly the guitar came alive. The 81 screamed like I had hoped it would and the 85 had that warm tone I had always heard before. This guitar is very lightweight, absolutely GORGEOUS in person, and is incredible in both playability and tone. Best money I've ever spent.

Just received the guitar yesterday and am returning it Monday. Plugged it in and their was hardly any volume. Changed battery and it was still the same. Called schecter with little results. Now I have to wait for a different guitar.
