When I was a kid I had a regular electric guitar that I sadly never learned how to play. Now that I am much older, I wanted to get another guitar to finally learn how to play.
I do play bass, and having had great experience with my Squire Jazz Bass, I had no reservations going with another Squire guitar.
I chose the Telecaster because I wanted that classic sound. After hearing some video reviews, I chose this model with the double humbuckers and I'm so glad I did. It sounds fantastic. Warm, crisp the perfect classic tone you think of when you think Telecaster.
I chose the metallic orange because I thought it was plain bad-a@#. I paired it with the D'Andrea Orange Pearl Tele Pickguard (which I did have to modify to fit the HH) and now I have a truly beautiful guitar that sounds phenomenal. I couldn't be happier

I've had this guitar for about a month. I was looking for an HH-configuration on a Fender frame that I could use as an around-the-house beater, so when this went on sale I grabbed one. My hope was that it would be a decent bedroom guitar, and long-term it might be a good foundation for mods and upgrades, and so far I'm *really* happy with it.

The metallic orange paint seems to take on different hues depending on the source and level of light. At times it will look like a shiny-fresh new penny, and at other times (especially under strong light), the rich pumpkin orange really emerges.

So far, the tuners seem OK. Tuning holds steady from one day to the next. Occasionally having some detuning issues after big bends, but that could be the nut just as likely as the tuners. A new TUSQ nut and a restringing will probably solve that issue- and if not, then it appears there are plenty of options for modern tuners that would drop right in. Many of the Affinity-level Squier guitars have atypical hardware that isn't easy to find quality replacements for, so this is a bonus for sure!

THE GOOD
Serious mojo and attitude for a "cheap" guitar
Construction is solid: fretboard is level, neck pocket is *tight*, switch and pots are smooth and quiet
Modern-style hardware= easier to upgrade
String-thru body and modern saddles= sustain

THE DIVISIVE
That paint! That orange headstock! Gasp!!
Humbuckers on a Tele?!

THE NOT-SO-GOOD
A few minor issues with paint and finish imperfections- headstock curves, frets and board are a bit rough
Sounds like a cheap guitar- pickups are hot, but muddy; clean sounds are a bit rough

In summary ... I already love this thing more than I should. With polished frets, new electronics, nut and saddles and this thing will be a pro-level BEAST. Very happy with the purchase so far.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

I like working on stuff and personalizing my instruments, so this worked for me. Replaced the plastic nut with tusq. Oiled the dry fret board, enhancing the beautiful wood grain. Sanded the fret ends a bit, but they were not bad for a cheap guitar. Adjusted the saddles for intonation -- they were HILARIOUSY out of wack! Adjusted the truss rod and saddle heights for nicer action. Put on a new set of strings that weren't total junk like what came on it. Then the biggy... swapped out the neck pickup for a Seymour Duncan jazz wired in parallel. Now it's a cool, funky, halloween-colored, blues machine and I love it! With the sale price and adding the tusq nut and SD pickup I spent about two-seventy. Was thinking about adding locking tuners, but since I learned to tie the strings on like the youtubes show, I don't think I need them... and I do a lot of bending!

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

I didn't expect much, so I was quite impressed with this buy.
            - Great tone. Has some quack to it in the middle position, but growls a little more under distortion than a typical single coil. Pickups are actually quite good.
            - Great neck. Feels like a comfortable strat neck. Has a slim profile and is comfortable for long jam sessions. Frets are well finished and nice.
            - She's a beauty. Metallic paint job and matching headstock (mine's orange) make her a real head turner. I dubbed her "Ginger."
            - Some of the finicky parts of teles are missing -- like the three saddle bridge.
            - Reminds me of the best parts of a strat and a tele in a great HH unit.

I'm a fan of this guitar. In fact, the humbuckers clean up so well, it has replaced my other SS tele. This one is almost as clean on the clean setting and has more growl under distortion. It's a nice bridge between a telecaster or a strat and a Les Paul. The pickups have a surprising thickness and depth to them that I didn't really anticipate. Fit and finish are outstanding and mine required no significant setup adjustments out of the box.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

This is a special FSR guitar, so it's made in a short run (around 600 made, then no more). It does have some higher end Fender parts on it (tuners, and pickups). I've had it now for 4 weeks, and after you give her a good tuning, she plays really good. I have several guitars, and many of them I paid a lot more money for, and this guitars plays, and sounds like a much more expensive guitar. I looking for a nice priced, and well playing guitar you won't go wrong with this one ........... and soon these will be gone.

I ordered a new black one and received an open box. The finish was not polished bythe neck. It has bits of debris under the finish. The head looked like it was rubbed on the sidewalk. The pots were hrs to turn and I plugged it in just to hear what humbuckers on a tele would sound like and they were the same as a standard single guitar. Nothing good at all.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

This is a sweet guitar. I bought this with modding in mind. The paint is gloss black and the finish was very nice on mine. I replaced the bridge pickup with a S&D invader and re-wired to a 500K CTS volume pot and switch craft jack plug. The tuners are ok, but I switched mine to fender locking tuners. I also replaced the strap buttons with Dunlop strap locks. The volume knob is a Ernie ball. I was planning on doing a Warmoth custom build but decided to save money and upgrade this guitar. So far I am very happy, and saved a pile of money. I left the neck pick-up and old hardware, so there wouldn't be empty spaces in the guitar but they are not wired. Guitar feels and sounds great.

Let's get the bad or misleading out of the way. The pick ups suck pretty bad. They're relatively high-output, but sound a little tinny. The tuners are garbage. Like the cheapest Fender has ever used in anything. The color isn't "metallic. It's just glossy black.

This is a fantastic player for less than two bills. The setup from Musician's Friend was great out of the box. The other electronics are decent quality. The neck is very comfortable. The pickups are tinny, but can still produce decent tone for practicing and can pull off some pinch harmonica too. After swapping the pick ups and tuners, this guitar will be the back up to my Fender HH Tele. It really is a great guitar for the money

This Squire affinity model is a workhorse. For only a cheap price I was able to get a solid, dependable option that worked fine for distortion powerchord punk. I played a gig in a pretty large room for about 70 people and the guitar did just fine.

Comments about Squier FSR Affinity Telecaster HH with Matching Headcap:

I have been looking for a guitar that I wouldn't worry about throwing around and would become the basis of a project guitar with all hardware being upgraded. I purchased this guitar and I must say it a very nice guitar for the price. The paint is good with only a very tiny chip in the truss rod area and a small blemish on the headstock, not a big deal. I really like the color, kind of a deep burnt orange and in my opinion the pictures don't do it justice. The neck is strait and smooth, the maple Fretboard is good, the action is reasonably low and the frets are even though they do need to be smoothed out. My biggest issue is with the quality/ratio of the Tuning Machine heads, the guitar was not setup so I had to get the intonation very close to correct, as I write this the low E is still a bit sharp, and these Tuners fight with you when trying to set the intonation. The pickups aren't bad as the tone is good, it falls between my humbucker Troubadour and my single coil Strat. I really have no major complaints with this guitar and I am very happy with my purchase, as is this is a very good starter guitar and it is a very good deal once you give it the attention it needs. As I mentioned above I will upgrade the hardware of this guitar starting with the tuners and bridge and once I am done with all upgrades I believe this will be a very sweet guitar.

You simply cannot get a better guitar for the money. After a proper set up and some fine tuning this guitar is ready to go to my next show. I love the light weight yet sturdy feel and I love the look of it. The neck needed some minor adjusting but this guitar plays great now. The frets are by no means sharp but could benefit from some small sanding and cleaning up to get a smoother neck feel, but for an inexpensive guitar I'm not going to spend much time working on this guitar. It is what it is, a playable, functional, full sounding electric guitar that will serve me for years to come. If I ever decide to upgrade any of parts this would be a great base for that. Thank you musician's friend for the great prices, and most of all, exceptional customer service.

Right off the bat I was bummed because the description states that the color is "metallic black" It is black.... plain old boring black.
First thing that struck me quality-wise were the tuners, very junky & sticky feeling, not even close to smooth. Fingerboard feels oddly dry but that's an easy fix, otherwise seems nice. No apparent fret issues. The finish quality is decent but there are a few spots with blemishes underneath which kind of sucks. I haven't really had the chance to plug it in yet so no comments on electronics.
Bottom line is...I wanted a tele simply because I've never owned one & I waited for this to go on sale so it only cost a buck seventy nine, for that money even if it needs upgrades (fully expected that) and some tweaking I consider it a bargain. Its definitely not going to take the place of my Les Paul.

For the money it beats a lot of guitars out there . I was surprised . Tuners and pickups need replaced but the rest is a steal . For what it cost I knew it would need something but still great .

I have no regrets getting this axe, it just needed a experienced guitar tech to get it to the next level of dependability. Shocked that the tuners were so loose, I have the inspection hang tag and the guy should be put back on sanding. glad it came with all its wrenches. since new strings and set up it plays like butter. but the electronics may be the next change.

i spent many hours using fine steel wool to make the frets smooth. there was also a rough spot on the back of the neck that I had to sand down. I wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't a nice guitar though.

Very slim neck, great feel, great fret work, plays as well as my most expensive Les Pauls. The pickups are a good middle point between the typical Tele and the typical Les Paul... they break up nicely when wound out, but they clean up very well, so I can cover a lot of tonal ground with this guitar. I'm amazed at how much guitar I can get for around two bills.... wow!
