Not the best value for a Squier, you pay for the HK design, though that is exactkly why I wanted it. But the construction is top notch. One piece maple neck with decent fret finish and excellent playability. I bought one to mod and mod I did. Swapped out the pickup for a GFS Crunchy Pat and tossed the pea sized Alpha pot and wired up a CTS 500K. Had to open up the hole in the body a bit with a round file. With my usual set up, all my guitars get the personal touch regardless of price, it plays great. It's one of my faves that I own.

If this is the only guitar that you'll buy and the only guitar that you'd own for life, this is not a very good choice. This guitar was designed with great simplicity and is to be used not as a main axe but for variety and looks. If you want a lot of features, go get yourself a customized guitar with a floyd rose bridge. You'd be spending a lot of time figuring out the "features" that you want. . . over all this is a very good guitar if it is not your only guitar. . .

Good with upgrades

I bought this originally for some laughs at shows. I knew the pickups and tuners weren't good before I bought it so I also bought a DiMarzio Evo 2 in white and a set of Groover tuners along with it. I was prepared to do some neck work but when I recieved it the action was pretty low, neck was straight and even, and even the intonation was set. The more I played it the more I fell in love with the feel of it. The Evo 2 sounds great in it and the Groover tuners keep it tune for a long time. I now have a black Van Halen style pickgaurd on it (one pickup and one volume nob cut out only) and its my main guitar!

A Dependable Solid Rocker

By Kevin B.

This little axe is great. I've been gigging for 20 plus years, and I got tired of big names that offered little more for the money. I tried the Hello Kitty for a laugh, but it's great. Solid wood with a maple neck. I've bought three so far. It only has a volume knob, but what more do you really need? A tremolo? Maybe. If they offered versions with a rosewood fingerboard and a tremolo, I'd never play anything else.

And its cute...

I was very surprised. I picked up 'as a joke' to play while at a music store and was actually quite impressed. It has very good tone and playability considering the cost. Its alot like the Tom DeLonge Signature Strat, so if you like that sort of sound, and want to get noticed, definatly consider this guitar. Not to mention is just plain cute.

Great entry level axe

By jpruden

from Hayward, CA

My daughter wanted a guitar to get started and so we purchased the Hello Kitty Stratocaster for her on her birthday. She's kind of an emo kid, so she immediately fell in love with the black kitty design.Plays great with her Behringer GM-108 amp. She's having a lot of fun with the combo even if she is still having difficulty with an open F.

One of the girls in my class owns this guitar, and I used it one day. It's incredible for such a cheap thing. For some reason it's much better than every other Squier I ever used. The neck finish was great, the frets were great, the hardware was great, no dead spots, the nut had no issues ... damn! Every other Squier I ever used had at least one issue even when new.It hasn't got much bells and whistles though, just a humbucker, volume and a cat staring at whoever is in front of you ... That said, I like the sound better than the crappy single coils of other Squiers. Geez, girls are lucky to have a guitar this well made at this price. With a Super Distortion pickup, this guitar could be a true monster ... with the face of a kitty ... how cool is that?If you're on a budget or want a cheap backup, I highly recommend it, even if you don't like the kitty. This one is just superior to the other Squiers...

As a player of death metal, i would like to say that this is one of the most killer shredders i have ever laid my sandwich clamps on. You can play everything from death metal to grindcore to death core on this hot mutha. Buy this, you won't regret it. W.

Jammin' Kitty

Not a bad guitar for the money, and it's CUTE! Love the humbucker sound that most Strats don't have. The neck is quick and feels smooth. Down fall, no tone control. Good Punk Rock Guitar!

Like "Jocko" I'm an older adult male. Why do I like this guitar? I was first attracted to this guitar because I'm crazy about anything about cats. But when I got serious and looked at it, I found that it is exactly my favorite electic setup: a single bridge humbucker with just a volume (no tone) and a hardtail bridge. This is the same arrangement at the Fender "Speed Shop" guitar for less money.

This guitar is the best guitar for the money. It is one of my favorite guitars to use on stage. It has a fast neck and the action is fine right out of the box!!!

It's cheap, it's fugly cute, plays fairly and has a very nice punky sound to it. Fits perfectly my tattooed hands, and the color is same as my mohawk, too.

I bought this guitar kind of as a gag gift for my bandmates birthday... I was really surprised how good it sounded! I was so impressed that I bought one for myself. We play mostly Emo/Punk and it really fits the feel of what we play

Bad Kitty

By TwangBob

This pink cat Strat is cool... much like the ol' Tom DeLonge model with a single HB bridge PU and single volume knob... no tone. This guitar was pawed by many shredders who loved the sound (through a simple Fender Blues Jr. amp) but I was the lucky one who snagged it at an excellent cost. The action - from the factory - was a little higher than I like it, but its playable as well as adjustable. No big ding there. The wood and pink paint is nice, weight is great, and I prefer the maple neck with the BIG 70s style headstock. Its not Mexican or Korean, but Indonesian made. As a showman (some might say, show-off) I like its vibe and graphics. Overall, ya can't go wrong... get yer Kitty on!

Pretty good, for a chick guitar!

By HelloKittyChick-UHPbt

from My Own Little World

This is a wonderful little first electric. It does have a hard time staying in tune, but over-tune it when you start, and it'll settle into a normal tune. This was my first electric, and it's great for me with it's simple control. The knob is both tone and volume (It's labled volume), so I leave the volume up and adjust on my amp. I have dragged it camping (I have a micro amp, and didn't have an acoustic at the time.), to sunday school, to Christmas gatherings, etc. and it still works! It is now a little twangy, but you can't really tell. And it looks really cute with Daisy Rocks fuzzy pink guitar strap!

Hello Kitty, Good-bye Dog

This thing sounds so good that if the great Jimi Hendrix was still around he would be using it, and not lighting it on fire. This is great for beginners or experts, but just practice I hope.

Best guitar ever

By KittyfanX1000

from USA!

I bought this guitar and I simply love it. Everything about it is great. Tuners, nut, fretboard, bridge, kitty, saddles, neck, pickup, knob.... I mean everything. The only problem I found was that soon after purchasing this little gem, my friends held me down and took turns kicking me in the b****.

Bad A** Axe

By BadKitty2000

from Los Angeles

This is the most complex monster I have ever tamed. It puts my Gibson Custom Shop Black Beauty into a fit of hysteria driven by jealous rage. I can't believe the sonic deluge I summon from this grim reaper of tone. Every note brings me over the edge of a new plane of existence. I was totally blown away as I slid this beauty out of it's box; it's killer looks flooring me with it's awesome flamingo pink body and aggressive, snarling pickguard. I am in love with a demonic, musical entity that is unleashed as soon as I coerce the strings with my pick. Without a doubt the most daring and demanding guitar you will ever weild in the name of music. Buy it Buy It Buy It....if you think you can handle it!
