I bought this guitar about 6 months ago as a long overdue upgrade to a Fender Squier. I also got a Behringer V-Ampire 120W amp. The first thing I noticed about this guitar was its incredibly smooth neck that allowed me to move up and down with great ease. I was also able to do bends with greater ease and more intensity. These strings are easy to bend are have incredible playability. They are also amazingly durable, because I haven't broken one yet, and I'm always rough on my strings. This guitar has great playability, which I think is probably the most important thing to consider when buying a guitar. The pickups on this guitar are amazing as well. They are just right, and are not noisy/muddy at all. I love these pickups, they are just as good as a high end Paul Reed Smith's pickups, undoubtedly. The tremolo on this guitar is great too. It doesn't put the strings out of tune unless you do a reallllly big bend with it. I was impressed with this, because I was able to use the tremolo as much as I wanted and not have to worry about my strings going out of tune. This guitar also stays in tune very well. I have to tune it about every two weeks, and even then its just barely out of tune. Now let me talk about the value of this guitar. Its for 500 dollars which means its also eligible for FREE SHIPPING. This is an incredible deal, because this guitar is just as good as any high end PRS. When I brought it to school for a songwriting class, the teachers thought it must've cost me at LEAST $1500, and they were shocked when I told them how much I got it for. Not to mention they were impressed with it and thought it was a gteat guitar. Not only is it a good deal, but it looks amazing. Its a glorious work of art. I have it in cherry red, and its very shiny. This wood is great, and you can tell see the wood. Which means its of great quality, not a cheaply made low end. I strongly recommend this guitar, and would also suggest getting a nice amp with it, because it sounds great and would be a shame for it not to have a nice amp to live its full potential through.

I was intrigued by the adds for these and had played on in a local music store. Thought it played and sounded great. Bought mine from Musician's friend. Excellent workmanship. Frets finished perfectly, no rough edges or dead spots.Vibrato works well and guitar remains in tune. The guitar came with 9's on it, and these are too light. I changed to 10's and find better sound, stays in tune better and am gradually lowering the action. I plan to gig with this guitar (play mostly Fenders) and feel it has two big advantages. First single volume and tone control...when you have to switch from rhythm to lead, it's difficult on guitars with two volume controls. Also, the pickups aren't as hot as Gibson and I can play the PRS using same amp and pedal settings as for Fenders. Altogether, a nicely made guitar that looks great and plays great. It would be hard to do better for the money!

Amazing guitar

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I have the first model of this guitar with the covered pickups and it is such an amazing guitar. My best friend has a Custom 22 and the santana easily compares to it. I just can't justify spending much money on an upper end guitar when the santana will sound about the same.

Best in price range and beyond!!

By L-Boy3

from Troutville, VA

I save up to get this guitar for my birthday and man was it worth it. The trem system on this is the same as the ones one the higher end PRSs and it plays like a dream. You couldn't find an equal in the same price range and it wouldn't be easy to find a peer for the same price. It is simply a great guitar and the pictures on the website don't do it justice. Go ahead and buy it. I would recommend it to anyone.

This guitar beats many american made guitars

By A Body Falls

I bought this guitar, and play it as my main guitar. While my $1500.00 Les Paul Standard sits in the case. Paul Reed Smith makes the best guitar in the world. And I was a strict Gibson man for 20 years!!!

I JUST LOVE THIS GUITAR!

By PRSRULEZ

from Norway

I bought my PRS Santana SE guitar for my brother for a birthday gift. As I tested it I found out that it was a hell of a guitar for that price. By the way, I paid $7900 in american dollars! After a while I ended up with buying a SE for myself as well! I use it when I play with my band and I practice with it as well! My much more expensive Fender Strat is much more uncomfortable to play on!

Cool Guitar

By Fretburner-aOHAe

from Placerville California

I just recently got this guitar. It is a very nice guitar. However it is not all it is cracked up to be. I am not saying it is a bad guitar, because it isn't it's just not the best after about a week the volume knob fell off, and the stock strings and broke after 3 times of playing. Anyway it is an ok guitar but I think I will stick with my Explorer.

Good Value for Pros and Amateurs Alike

By Abraxas

from Salt Lake City, UT

After receiving my Santana SE, I had to adjust the truss rod and intonation, but this is normal unless buying a Schecter, which come set up to play. The tone is very good, the action is as good or better than my Ibanez RLTD-540, which is greased lightning. This guitar is extremely versatile tonally, which for the price is amazing. It is now my favorite over my Schecter and Ibanez. I also own a Gibson SG which will now sit in the case. The only thing is that I ordered a Tobacco Brown Sunburst, and this site sent a Cherry Red one because they were out of the brown ones, yet they failed to mention this when taking my money, so they just sent the color they had in stock. I'm keeping the cherry red one because it set up so nicely, but be sure you get what you order!

I bought this guitar back in 2005, and it's held up great. The only problem that I have had is the neck pickup died. I guess that is what happens after hours of playing, and it is nothing that can't be replaced. But other than that it's been great. Also I would recomend getting this guitar without the tremelo bridge, and getting new tuners. But other then that it is a great guitar. You cannot go wrong with PRS.

THIS GUITAR RIPPS!

I have the 1st model that came out with the covered humbuckers w/o the pickguard. The guitar is simply awesome. My main guitar is a 1990 American made Fender Strat Plus. This guitar is an excellent foil to the Strat. A completely different personality that rocks hard. Of course it's not as versatile as the Strat, but it has a tone all it's own. It is a beautiful meat and potatoes, no-nonsense rocker. For the price, you can't beat it!

ah yes... the santana

This is a gorgeous guitar. I have owned it for several years now, and still love it. There are a few things worth mentioning, however. Number 1 - the pickups. Don't get me wrong, these are excellent pickups, top of the line. But if you plan on lowering or raising them, check the screws after you do so - it is really hard to tell the point where the screw is not connected to the pickup anymore. So make sure you know what you're doing if you plan on moving or customizing your pickups. Number 2 - the bridge. PRS guitars are known for having bridges that come to a better edge than most other guitars. This makes for a very, very clean sound. However, it also means that strings break easily. If you are playing rough and using light strings, expect to break strings two or three times more often than you would think. I broke a D at a show once, and that wasn't too pretty. However, this guitar is insane. The action is most excellent, the feel is unique, and even the look is hard to beat. I absolutely recommend this guitar.

I have had this guitar for about a week now and I love it! I have had to get it restrung, and now it sounds better than ever. I've taken my whammy bar off but still use it occasionally. Overall this is a great intermediate guitar.

Sweet guitar, great value

By Maverick22

from Garnett, KS

I was "just looking" when I went to the music store for an upgrade to my Fender Squire. I really didn't have too many complaints about my Squire except that the neck was too narrow and I had a hard time playing it accurately. I was in the store about three hours and literally played everything in the store from guitars about the same price to several three times the price of the Santana SE. When I plugged this thing In and played it, it was all over. This is the sweetest guitar I have ever played. The neck is a little wider than my Squier and I was able to play quite a bit faster and not hit so many clinkers. The tone is great and the finish is beautiful (I got the tobacco sunburst). If you want a great mid-price guitar, you can't go wrong with this one.

Amazing and affordable

I couldn't believe I was actually getting a PRS for this little money. Found out they were made in Korea and thought the quality would be poor. Boy, was I wrong. Excellently constructed guitar. Sturdy and longlasting. Best I've seen from a low end...If this is PRS low end guitar, I can only imagine what there higher priced axes would play like. This has the most incredible sustain and action I have ever felt in a guitar. It plays so sweet, it is just hard to believe how cheap it is. If you ever wanted a PRS boy couldn't afford it, this is the guitar for you. Incredible all around.
