28-5/8' scale, an integrated rolling capo, and piezo/acoustic bridge for unprecedented flexibility.

The ultra high-tech Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale Electric Guitar is a professional-quality, full-scale, high-end guitar that's smaller and easier to carry than most travel guitars. Play it open and it's a baritone; roll the built-in capo up a couple of frets and it's a normal 25-1/2" guitar. Add to this Steinberger's brilliant design features such as the tune-it-once direct-drive double-ball bridge with piezo pickup, EMG USA humbucking pickups, fold-down leg rest, and graphite-reinforced neck with ultrafast phenolic fingerboard, and you've got a truly advanced and infinitely playable instrument.

Low-impedance EMG USA humbuckers offer a broader bandwidth for unique and robust tone and are mounted on stabilizers that keep them from tilting.

Improved intonation from a zero fret. Unique Steinberger Combo headpiece improves balance, ease of tuning, and tuning stability while the patented Direct-Drive double-ball bridge lets you change strings in seconds then tune up once and not have to tune again until you change strings.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Comments about Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale Electric Guitar:

-bad quality
-bad customer support
-bad cosmetic
-bad PCBA

the guitar is wonderful in the design and concept... I love Steinberger, but this synapse may be the last one...
Let's start from the beginning... I have been buying Steinberger guitars since many years ago. There were many reasons for my choice: I travel very often and I need a professional sound.
I have been always happy of my purchase, for me Steinberger through the years meant quality/innovation/convenience.

I bought this model 3 months ago... considering the price and considering it was the top of the new line my expectations were high, but what I received did not meet my expectations. Read the details and tell me if you wouldn't be disappointed
Fret markings at wrong location; (imagine if your frets markings have an offset) which make very confusiong the execution
A very quick visual check would have avoid this very bad leak from the production line!
not acceptable!
after 3 months I have no sound coming out from the guitar... maybe the PCBA fried?
I called Gibson, which asked me to call an authorized repair center in the place Im working for the next few weeks (Minneapolis).
I brought my guitar and after 5 days they also could not find the root cause and they charged me for nothing and they requested me to call EMG to see if they can help
missing painting in several areasno matter how hard you try to adjust the truss road to have the lowest action as possible, if you want to prevent the string buzzing you need to keep the action very high which is a limitation for some kind of players like me which prefer low action
woudld you buy something like above description?
the customer support has been a very humiliating experience; I usually accept the quality issues for an item since there is no flawless manufacturing process, and some escapes are always possible. However, when these case happens usually the product is replaced/repaired without making too much noise... here I have left with a "bricked" guitar.
what shall I DO?

Close but no cigar

Comments about Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale Electric Guitar:

A very practical guitar in many ways: solid tuning, portable, versatile, well-balanced, hidden plug input, good strap hooks. However, it would be nice to be able switch the active pickups to passive when a battery starts to go and to disengage the battery without unplugging the cord. Quality control is not what it should be either. The detent of the low EQ pot was barely detectable and milling of the fret edges poor. The high ?E? string often got caught on the edge of the 4th fret. I opted for a Deluxe Strat and feel I good more guitar for about the same amount of money?plus a wammy bar.

Comments about Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale Electric Guitar:

I have waited almost 30 days to get strings for this guitar. They are on back order. I would never recomend this guitar to anyone. The light guage are worthless on this transcale model. The baritone strings are to thick. The standard strings they dont stock. This guitar sits now because you can't provide me with strings. Never never again will I buy from you again! Good bye!

Comments about Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale Electric Guitar:

Bought a black Transcale & case recently. Was disappointed at first. The capo guide grooves had some unpainted portions. The capo was plastic & looked breakable. (Why not a stainless steel frame?!?!I've ordered a extra capo & a couple rubber rollers while they're still making them). Was annoyed by the capo's neck groove at first. Now I don't notice it much; and it is a sure grip that you get. The capo would suck the high E string in to the space between capo & neck while moving the capo upwards.(Hold the strings right above the fret you're going up to, and they'll stay put.)Neck radius was comfortable. Good action and intonation. The offset board markers took a little getting used to.The string tensioners are very good. It stands upright against a wall. All my other guitars were in peril when leaned. The leg rest works well. I don't like the front strap holder, but it works fine and isn't 'really' in the way.Gig bag is good quality, and the hardshell case well worth. Amp-ed, w/o effects, it had a voice & gave a good range of tones. The piezo gives some very interesting sounds.I enjoy the open 'baritone D'. A very stable, playable, & user friendly guitar. Expensive & homely, but a lot of musical fun.

Modern beauty w/solid performance

Comments about Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale Electric Guitar:

I always wanted one of these and I finally sprung for a black one. This is a great little guitar for just playing and having fun with. It's not supposed to be like any other guitar and it isn't. It has great sound, and it stays in tune for a long long time, which by itself is great. It plays great, and the sliding capo works beautifully! It's a guitar to do what guitars are for, Have Fun! I'm very happy with mine! I run it through my PodLiveXT and play for hours. It fits the "alternative" mode very well in looks and sound. I'm surprised at how good it is honestly. If you've always wanted one, Get it.

Comments about Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale Electric Guitar:

Firstly, i have to mention the negative comments, this is a baritone, which use thicker strings than a normal guitar, and they aren't hard to find. secondly, this guitar use two methods to secure the strings, you don't need double ball.

Mot of us anymore rely on reviews to help our decisions, and reading so many negative about this guitar when these negatives have nothing to do with the guitar, just those who choose to ignore what type of guitar this is, and ignore core functions.

This thing rings like a bell, endless sustain, great tone, like going from an upright to a grand piano, the piezo function is perfect, the tone adjustments are perfect, the size, weight, feel, everything about this guitar is near perfect. To compare i have a Parker Nitefly which has individual piezo saddles, and this Synapse Transcale sounds perhaps as good as the Parker. In my opinion if one were going to choose a high end guitar piezo system should be on the guitar, if at the least to dial in super clarity to the tone, it's a must have for me. At the least for people like me who do a lot of tapping, you can dial in the piezo to make the tapping really come alive, something you can't do without piezo.
