When I purchased by Takamine, it was the second one I own. I love the Eg531sc because it has the tuner built in. My older one doesn't have the tuner. I think the sound, feel, and comfort of playing this guitars equal to others I have played that cost much more. The guitar has a wonderful sound and I would recommend it to anyone for any type of setting.

GREAT GUITAR

By takamine lover!!!

from Haworth, OK

I have had this guitar for about three years or so. I bought it from a mom and pop shop whenever they first came out. A friend of mine bout the older model just a year before me and they added the tuner to this model which is such an awesome detail to add. It keeps sounding better and better as it ages. Like some have said the action is a little high but I have played a lot worse. I have never had any problems out of my guitar and this year I added some brass pins to get some added tone and it sings like an angel.GREAT GUITAR!!!

I actually bought this guitar from samash in orlando I went in played it and was amazed it has a built in tuner sounds great unpluged and pluged in I would recomend this guitar to anyone its a great choice and the only reason I bout it from samash is because I was in a hurry to get it and I just went up and bought it instead of ording it threw the mail and have a chance of it getting messed up. To say the least it was a great guitar

G-man from Long Island

Bought one, had it professionally set up, which I highly recommend. PLay it live plugged in. It's feel, sound, and action are superb for an instrument of this price range. I highly recommend this guitar to even the professional who plays live with amp. I love the built in tuner. What a plus for on the spot tuning. I love mine.

I have had this guitar for about a year now. This guitar sounds great live. Since I play in the band at my church it is awesome to have a onboard tuner. It is pretty accurate. I would recommend this guitar.

Good Guitar

By Rant

from San Diego, CA

I initially had some annotation issues with it but a slight truss adjustment and, raising the bridge slightly, solved that. Great sound live - most solid black guitars don't resonate well but this one sound does just fine. Sounds better plugged-in then raw. Suggest running thru a "Chorus" pedal - awesome. I would recommend it.

Great guitar with great sound

By GuitarMan1757

from Panama City Beach, FL

I am very pleased with this guitar. It's built in tuning system makes it so much easier to tune. The tone is most excellent, as it is much darker than many other guitars with a spruce top. I would recommend this guitar to anyone.

Wow, quite an impressive sound!

By Ryan 4 DMB

from Daytona Beach, FL

This guitar is awesome! When i received it and startde playing it i noticed the action is a bit too high for my liking. However if you pull the action up there are 2 strips that you can remove under that make it a much more playable guitar. Sounds great live and recorded. Built-in tuner is dead on accurate. Love it! Ill defintely be buying takamine in the future.

Love it.

By Praise_habit

from Martinsville, IN

I've had this guitar for about two months. I have no idea why, but this thing has motivated me to practice more often. It has great tone, and the built-in tuner is an amazing convenience. The action is a little high for my taste, but that can obviously be corrected, once I get motivated to sit down and do so. This is a great guitar if you're on a budget.

This guitar is amazing! I love the richness and tone. For worship it is incredible, for the slow and the cutting edge songs. It makes me want to play more and more. AWESOME!!!!

great guitar

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I've had this guitar for about a year. Its a fine instrument. The tone on it is great for its size. A full body guitar, like the next model up from this one, would have a bigger, fuller tone. So in that respect, I recommend spending the extra hundred and getting the better model. The finish and inlays on this guitar are beautiful and it sounds great plugged in. The built in tuner is pretty sweet. There are some buzzes inside the guitar- id what they are- but something is vibrating. Its not very loud, but it can be heard and is a little annoying. All in all, this is a great instrument. Some people said that the action was high... I think the action is fine. I really like the fretboard and feel of the guitar. A great 1st guitar for the aspiring musician as well as a good guitar to take on the road.

amazing acoustic!!

By NHBluesMan

from Grand Rapids, MI

i was lucky enough to pick up one of these used and it played just as good as the new one i tried in the store. It sounds great, plays as nice as my electrics (which was a key factor i wanted in a new acoustic guitar) and sounds great plugged in. The tuner is DEAD-ON accurate. I tuned the guitar with the on-board tuner and my Boss TU-2 at the same time, and they lined up perfectly (the TU-2 imo is the best pedal tuner you can get). The only thing better that you could have is if it came with a case, but i was able to pick up one at a sale. GREAT guitar!!

This Guitar Doesn't Look like the Picture.

By Dissatisfied with the Appearance.

from Southaven, MS

I just received my EG531SSC and there are some differences than the picture. First of all, the preamp is not top mounted but rather on the front near the neck. Even Takamine's website shows the picture with the top mount electronics. The Preamp is also a TK40 (see Takamine's website) and not a TK4NT.... So I first wondered if I recieved the correct Guitar. Yep...The model number on the guitar is correct with the one I ordered. It just doesn't look the same. I did want the controls on top and not on the front. So, I'm going to send this item back to get what I want. The guitar plays well and has a great tone.

this is it

By shanelove

from el paso tx

Having played my venerable 1970 model Gibson Heritage (I bought 3 of these that year, each one an individual work of craftsmanship), I've been somewhat spoiled through the years. This Takamine is an excellent replacement for the old Gibsons in terms of tone & playability, and the electronics are clean and precise. I am loving this guitar; it's difficult to put it away.

Great guitar for any musician

By SGuitarist

from NJ

This guitar is quite beautiful for the price. I played one at my local music store and recently purchased one for myself. The tone is very nice, not to deep, but not to twangy. The action was slightly high for my liking, but that can easily be fixed. This guitar is definetaly worth every penny.
