Comments about Yamaha APX500FM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar for my wife so we could sit on the porch and make music together. We did a LOT of research and shopping before we chose this guitar, and I KNOW the right decision was made. Out of the box, after tuning the strings and letting the guitar set overnight to acclimate, it plays like a dream and sounds superbly SWEET! The action is super low, but there is absolutely no fret buzz. For a thin bodied dreadnought guitar, the acoustic sound projection of the APX500FM is AMAZING! Unplugged the overall timbre is rich and sparkly with well balanced highs, accented mids and pronounced bass. Plugged in, you can really tell the difference between the Yamaha preamp and a Fishman, as it sounds thin to my ear, but with the bass boosted 6db and the mids boosted 4db,I achieved DELICIOUS amplified tone. I expect the Elixir Nanoweb phosphor/bronze strings to sound GREAT for a long, long time, too! Did I mention that the Old Violin Sunburst we chose is BEAUTIFUL? The flamed maple top shimmers in the sun as the light dances through the many different hues. The mother-of-pearl accents are a luxurious touch that my wife loves. I've been looking REALLY closely, and I cannot find any flaws in the construction, the assembly or the finish. The Yamaha APX500FM is an elegantly appointed guitar, and with it we will build memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.

Comments about Yamaha APX500FM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am a 35 year guitar veteran. I say that just so you know that I know a little about guitars. I bought this guitar to play at Church and I've got to say, plugged this guitar sounds awesome. The unplugged sound is decent for practice too. I love the neck. Which seems to be geared a little toward an electric. The build, fit, and finish are wonderful. Just what you would expect from Yamaha. I personally don't think you can get a better thin-line for under 5 or 6 hundred dollars I play this baby all the time. So yes I would definitely recommend this guitar for any level player. . Quite impressive indeed.

Comments about Yamaha APX500FM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Very attractive version of a nice acoustic electric. Unplugged, it is easy to play and great for practice. Plug in to play out and the results are quite good. Sound is just slightly electric -- good for many styles of music. Neck is fast! Flame top guarantees attention, whether worth the premium is up to user. Wire to pick up vibrated with 2nd string -- remedied by moving slightly away from soundhole.Good value, easy to play, sounds just fine plugged in.

Comments about Yamaha APX500FM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about a month ago to replace my Ovation that i had for six years. I loved my ovation and was worried i wouldn't find a good replacement. well i did. This guitar has and amazingly warm tone to it and feels great playing it. The action is great but could be maybe a 32th lower. the shine is beautiful and smooth. the electronics work great and the tuner does not interfere with the output. it is very light weight and even plays great standing up. i would reccomend this guitar to anyone from begginer to professional. buy this guitar and enjoy a great sound.

Comments about Yamaha APX500FM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've always loved Yamaha acoustic guitars. This one is a joy to play. It sounds good acoustically, but it really comes alive when you plug it in. It has very responsive tone shaping controls, and an onboard tuner. I have the violin burst color, and it is gorgeous. I get lots of compliments on this guitar for both sound and looks. Buy it!

Oriental Green Burst?

By arcane93

from Arlington, VA

Comments about Yamaha APX500FM Flame Maple Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I received my "Oriental Blue Burst" APX500FM from this site yesterday, after a month and a half on backorder -- and it's green. I don't mean teal, turquoise, or any other bluish shade that might be mistaken for green, I mean green green. My girlfriend, who knew that I had ordered a blue guitar, took one look at it and said "I have emerald jewelery that's that exact color." I've looked at it in several different types of light and shown it to several people, and the consensus is -- yes, it is green. Now, don't get me wrong, it's a nice green. A pleasant green, even. The only problem is that I ordered a blue guitar. What truly baffles me is that Yamaha doesn't even make this model in green, so it's not like it was a simple labeling mix-up.Anyway, I haven't had much chance to actually play it yet, but it seems like a decent guitar. I just wanted to put this out there as a "buyer beware" for anyone else thinking of buying it. I'm downgrading it on "quality" because Yamaha clearly has a quality control problem in what they're shipping out (perhaps they need to get their quality control inspectors tested for colorblindness).
