My first gitar and I am loving it. Positives:* Sounds Great* Looks great* Tuner pegs and body seems very solid to me, like it is well made* I busted a string on the first day and it was a breeze to change (The one thing I got out of the dvd)Complaints: * The DVD is a waste of time. Teaches you how to play three chords..that is it! so get some more instruction stuff.* The bag is ok but not convienient to hold anything other than the guitar. I would prefer something that could hold the strings and picks as well as some dvds and music books. It opens on the bottom so everything spills out everytime it is opened.* Strap is cheap but what do you expect.I would highly recommend the guitar but get some additional instruction and a hard case if you want your guitar playing to be self contained.

I bought this six weeks ago after reading a positive hands on review. The guitar looks good and sounds great, but. . .in the last six weeks, I have thrown away the helpless DVD (it truly is bad) for a much better one, bought a new gig bag to replace the completely useless one it comes with, put on better strings, and had it tuned up to lower the high action on the guitar. Other than that, the tuner is adequate. If you are serious about playing, you may as well just buy all of these things separately. The cost may be slightly higher, but the quality will be much better.

A great starter package

By Apehanger Mike

from Reno, NV

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I had always wanted to learn guitar, so when my brother, who plays, was visiting, we went to a few music stores and tried many guitars, some in packages, some alone. Settled on this for quality, accessories, and price. This is an excellent starter guitar. The sound is respectable, and it stays in tune really well. The DVD isn't great, but I got a couple of Hal Leonard books and I'm off to a flying start. Don't hesitate if you're thinking of getting this package. You won't regret it.

5 Years Strong

By Justin

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I recieved this starter pack Christmas '03 and it still sounds great. Back when I got it I got a tuning pitch pipe instead of digital tuner but, it's all good. Great Value for years of learning and beautiful sounds. Elixer strings really make it sound great. I couldn't ask for a better first guitar.

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

the best bang for the dollar, I would highly recommend it. The gig needs to be up graded and the dvd is sub-par.But the finish and sound of this guitar is excellent. Not many guitars in this price range have a solid top. I will upgrade someday, but i have no plans of ever selling this guitar

I like the value but I don't like the brand. I would rather have IBANEZ or WASHBURN.

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

Great guitar!! a real Gig maker.... Deluxe!! By Yamaha!! The Standard is good too.
I have been playing for most of my life, I have played with some very famous people. I teach, and damn it most students dont get honest advice about what guitar they should choose. This guitar is perfect for a student. I have one I teach with and Yamaha makes a good product. Ok, its no high end guitar, but it will play well when tuned right and sound real good after a few years. If the student decides to move up and improve there instrument, well they can put this puppy on craigs list and get most of there cash back. If it stays with them for a lifetime, well with care it could just get passed down to the grand kids... Besides its not the guitar makeing the music, its the person playin it... I think this guitar will be loved by the person who owns it regardless of how it plays or how it sounds.. In my pro opinion, its good!!!!!! Good choice and I would be willing to record with it just to put the nay sayers to bed... The Yamaha Gig maker Delux!!!!
again good quality... The Gig maker Delux, by Yamaha
a value for the price this Gig make Deluxr by Yamaha...

Yamaha: Perfect for Beginners

By You'll know me...

from Littlerock, WA

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is my first guitar and I got it for Christmas. The first thing I noticed was that the action was low, and since I'm really only learning acoustic to play electric, I found it to my liking, It stays in tune like you wouldn't belive, often through two or three days of hard practice with fairly hard picks. Cons: The tuner is worthless. Don't get me wrong I got a differant tuner than the one pictured in my pack (did not order from MF).

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This item was a Christmas gift for my daughter. She has been wanting a guitar so, we took the opportunity to get it as a Christmas gift. It was not tuned when we received it. She said that the tuner did not work, but she was able to download an app to tune it. It is good for beginners. I'm not sure why the tuner does not work but she loves it otherwise!

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

Mine was set up great right out of the box (I did upgrade strings once I played the stock ones). The guitar plays better than my acoustic that was twice as much (open F chord and Dm are easy to finger on this guitar)-the more expensive guitar sounds better for sure, but this Yamaha FD01S is easy on the fingers and sounds decent.

Overall, it's a no-frills guitar. Nice finish, very basic ornamentation. Things that matter, like action and sound, are fantastic at this price point. Treble is really gorgeous-very pure, resonation between B and High E is spectacular. Bass is adequate. Barre chords are easy-neck looks really cheap but plays fast.

Basic guitar but with a solid top. Good choice-

    Pretty Good

    By Cooler than you

    from Parkland, Florida

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This guitar is good, but the tuner and teaching dvd is horrible! The dvd only tells you pretty much how to string a guitar and how to do a Am Chord. The tuner doesnt regocnize the strings correctly and is horrible. Besides that, the strap hurts and besides that nothing else is bad.

    I like this package

    By jfisher

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This was my first guitar & I'm very happy with my purchase. I restrung it w/ some D'Addarios & the sound is great. The CD that came with mine was a demo version of EGuitar & I ended up buying a separate DVD for instruction (I think that's where some of the other packages are a little better). Otherwise, I'm very happy with this package.

    Yamaha Deluxe Guitar Pack

    By Anonymus Owner

    from Chester, CT

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I would highly recommend this for a first guitar. But, not for an advanced guitarist. The quality is okay, but it dosen't have that tinny sound found on most acoustics. Also, the strings discolor easily. When you play the G chord, It doesn't sound long enough. Good Guitar, but could be better.

    Needs Work

    By Otis-qSVVA

    from Hawaii

Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is an average guitar for the money (mine came with the FD02 model). The playability is poor which is not the best thing for a beginner. The action is too high and the strings are too hard. Lowering the action and replacing the strings did help playability but you can only do so much. The gig bag and strap are adequate. The tuner and capo are not. DVD is ok but not great. On the positive side, the guitar looks and sounds great. My recommendation is for the beginners to find a more playable guitar then be ready to pony up the $50-100 dollars for a good bag, tuner, strap, capo and learning program.
