Best in class...

I would like to recommend this controller to anyone trying to choose between this and the M-audio Oxygen line. If this one had pads it would be better than the Axiom. The keys have a wonderful feel to them that you will love. Spend the extra bucks and get this over the Oxygen, you won't regret it.

Plastic box

By Jonathan

The first thing I noticed about this controller was it's very VERY shakey construction. I took it out the box.. and a button was already dislocated. The buttons are all very wobbly.. when you play it, they will shake back and forth, though it will affect nothing. The actual case is terrible. The plastic it's made of is easy to bend. There are places where I can push the case together(as if it isn't screwed in tight enough). The actual playing of the keyboard was nice. The key's have small steel plates under them.. this adds some weight I assume? They play great. With only 25 keys, don't expect to play any sonata.. but it's a synth controller. There are 16 knobs, a pitch bend wheel and modulation wheel that are all assignable. They each have rubber coating which makes for excellent grip while playing. The installation software wouldn't load when I tried.. so I had to dig around the CD to find the installation.. Still haven't gotten any of their software to work right. The knobs are nice.. haven't messed with any of the features because the software won't install right. I would get this keyboard.. but don't expect great construction.

I recomend this keyboard to anyone with a low budget and looking for something simple.Quality 7/10: This is due to the fact that teh material used to construct this piece of equipment is cheap. Everything works perfect however. I don't like hte pitch bend too much it just doesnt feel right. there is a little groove to place your finger and its hard to get it to bend all the way without the outer case getting in the way.The knobs however are very nice and feel durable.the keys feel greatI have no problem with this product I use it all the time.

After look through many sites just to find a proper and cheap synth...I believe I finally found one hopefully this will be my Chrismas present.

I like it

This is everything I needed for a controller, I use it in Reason and Reaktor and is easy to set up. Plug and play works, but I suggest installing the drivers on the cd for the lowest latency. I don't have a midi interface, though I wish I did. I use usb rendering the features of the control knobs useless, but you can always upgrade. Also the pitch control knob is a lot better in terms of its weight than other keyboards I've played. My only negetive comment is that a small piece of metel used for weight underneth the one of the keys popped out and makes an annoying clik when you play it, so I'll proably fix that myself. Overall though I'm real satisfied.

I think it's great

XBoard25- I needed a compact midi controller to use with virtual synths in Protools/Live/etc, & I think this one fit the bill perfectly. It took a little doing to get it set up but in every case where I had trouble it was because I didn't pay attention to the manual so it's my fault. Once I got it going it's been rock solid.Aside from being a really slick little controller, the Proteus bundle is an awesome addition to my rig & was the major selling point before I purchased it. It wil take me years to fully explore the bundled sample banks.

Best Key Action I've Ever Experienced!!

By Jason Adams

from Good Ol' Cali

I'm sorry, this thing blew me away at how it works. It has a lovely look, I love the colors, and the keys are just like butter baby! I never knew I could play so good until I got this thing. Its so good, I got rid of it, and when it was time to buy a replacement (was going to be a edirol pcr-30) I got it again! Its just unmatched. Nothing can touch it IMO.It is nice and rugged as well, can withstand wear and tear. And dont forget all those damn knobs!I also plan on getting the Korg PadKontrol when that comes out too, you should all check that out!!

Unstable, poorly built.

By BenZene

from Albany, NY

This device never, ever, installed correctly, operated correctly, or remained in the least bit consistant. I maintain my system very well, and all other hardware runs with great stability, but E-mu hardware, especially the Xboard25 is some of the most problematic I have ever encountered. Not only would the system fail to recognize the board after recognizing it one day earlier, but I could not even reinstall the drivers for it, because the driver install program did not detect it. I've used Creative's produts since their very first Sound Blaster, but their "pro-audio" branch is not ready for prime time.

Lot of bang for my money

I'm a Linux nerd and I wanted a controller that I could use to work amSynth, Horgand, Hydrogen, etc. This turns out to be that controller. Ubuntu Dapper saw it as soon as I plugged it into the USB bus and away we went. Just connect it up to a synth in jack and you're composing. The case is, as has been stated, a little flimsy, but the key action is so much better than I expected I don't care. The 16 knobs have a great positive, grippy feel to them. The pitch bend wheel feels nice and resistant. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied. For a $150 controller that won't take over the desk. This was a sound investment.
