OVERVIEW

Miniature ribbon keyboard that produces intense, analog-like echo effects.

Korg's monotron DELAY is a fun-size analog ribbon synthesizer with a live, ready-to-be tweaked front panel offering five knobs and a single switch. Its Space Delay gives you echo effects that harken the early days of synth, and its simple operation and ease invites hours of enjoyment and musical exploration - all in the palm of your hand.

Casual users and people who love to play with gadgets will find it easy to enjoy creating melodies with a simple knob tweak and tapping along the keyboard portion. DJs and established musicians can also use the monotron DELAY to add some dazzling sound effects or pump some analog muscle into their performance. The possibilities are virtually endless.

Classic Analog Synth / Space Delay Combination
A good delay was an essential part of the classic analog synthesizer sound. More often than not, that delay came from a tape-style echo machine until affordable digital delays were created. The monotron DELAY is an analog synthesizer optimized for sound effects. In addition to its analog oscillator, filter, and LFO, it also provides a Space Delay that's indispensable for swooping, cosmic sounds. The monotron DELAY even reproduces the pitch changes that occur when you vary the delay time, just as though you were using an analog tape echo. As with the filter, the delay effect can be added to any external sound via the Aux In jack. This fat and warm delay will add an authentic edge to your analog sounds.

Dual-Waveform LFO
The Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) waveform used to modulate the pitch now offers a choice of waveshapes - a new square wave plus the traditional triangle wave. Both the Rate (Speed) and the Intensity (Depth) can be adjusted independently. In addition, a trimpot on the back panel can continuously adjust the shape/direction of the triangle wave or the pulse-width of the square wave to deliver even more versatility. Used in conjunction with the delay, the LFO can create dazzling effects and provide unique possibilities for embellishing your songs.

Wide-Range Ribbon Keyboard
The monotron DELAY's ribbon controller keyboard features a wide, four-octave range. This design allows the pitch to be controlled even more aggressively and dynamically, making the monotron DELAY a great weapon for a DJ to get the floor moving with irresistible sound. The reversed white keys and body adornments glow under black light illumination, making the monotron DELAY ideal for delivering a striking visual impact in nearly any club environment.

This little synth is now a part of my live performance workstation. It so cheap but yet so powerful. I was searching for a sound like this for over a decade. Buy one now! I already bought 2.

Comments about Korg Monotron Delay Analog Ribbon Synthesizer:

If you set your expectations for what this device really is, you will find that it is a fun little synth. The synth's trigger mechanism is a ribbon, rather than actual keys, so finding notes is an exercise in imperfection. That isn't to say that this is a bad thing, because in the right applications, a little imperfection is just perfect! I use this little synth to add atmospheric elements to my music. This synth definitely will not replace my synth bass generator, as there is no MIDI capabilities, or any other way to create specific notes on specific parts of the beat. But, for blips, beeps, and even swirling pads, it is a fun tool to use with some surprisingly good sound. I would definitely recommend this to a friend, as long as that friend knew what they were getting.

Comments about Korg Monotron Delay Analog Ribbon Synthesizer:

Used on it's own (with headphones), it's quite fun and addictive. Next, I'll be experimenting with running a guitar or traditional keyboard through it.

Comments about Korg Monotron Delay Analog Ribbon Synthesizer:

Disclaimer: I'm a guitarist ;) That said, this thing is fun and sounds so good. I was looking for something to add background/ambiance to hobby recordings. I use it (so far) with quality headphones. Wow. I fiddled with it for hours and love it. I can't wait to send it thru a pa or a guitar amp! I thought it'd be bigger, but it's smaller than my wallet. Perfect, since I'm planning on building a rig with it and a Stylophone. I've got a "pedal" case ordered, and with some velcro and a couple guitar pedals (chorus & octaver), I'll have a portable one stop shop. Someday, I might send a guitar signal thru it (it's capable), but that's for another day.

Comments about Korg Monotron Delay Analog Ribbon Synthesizer:

I really like this for use as an effect; using the aux input to plug in a tiny sampler leads to some delay madness on vocals. Picture a Jamaican MC saying something and it echoing everywhere. It's INCREDIBLY overpriced, however, and is practically useless as an actual keyboard instrument.
Overall, if you're into making cool delays on almost no budget, this is where to start.
