Great for beginners to intermidiate players.
It has enough features to get you through your first learning experiences, and should suffice for most of your intermediate years.
Not too heavy and not too light, it's just the right size for my tables in most cases.
A little steep for a beginner, but you get what you pay for in the end.

Bought this keyboard about 2 years ago. Just the other day it died on me, the speakers gave out. Don't let that change your mind, this is a great starter piano. Very lighweight and portable. Great sounds and beats. I used this keyboard mostly as a controller for midi. My midi signal was delayed a split second, but that was probably just my interface. If you're looking for a good keyboard to practice and play on, this is it.

We bought this for our adult daughter as a gift. She has been playing for many years and missed playing when she moved into a smaller apartment that couldn't accommodate a piano. She's thrilled with it and enjoys playing it very much and she can play anytime she wants since she can plug in the earphones so only she can hear. I recommend buying the power supply so you don't always have to use all those batteries and also the foot pedal so it helps to make it sound even more like an actual piano.

Super light. Good for comping in the basement, garage or park.
It's got pretty decent piano tone. (good digital sonic modeling). I'd leave all the fancy features alone, unless you want to sound like an organ salesman. Eventually you can look at some of the stuff as tools, but you can't substitute for the basics.
Guessing 88 weighted keys would put the unit over the target price point.
Guessing including the AC adapter would put the unit over the target price point. That said, about 25hrs., still on the first set of batteries. Battery health on the display?
Way more doo-dads than i'll ever use.

Price point makes it an obvious value.

This is an excellent keyboard for the money. I am actually refreshing myself personally on the keyboard, and also using it on gigs with an older player who needs a lightweight keyboard to move around. Amazing variety of sounds and value for the money. Highly recommended, and I have been a professor of music at the university level for 4 years in January of 2013.

I just got this keyboard because I'm actually a drummer and I wanted to learn Theory and Harmony and I was told that the most easiest way was with a keyboard or piano. Since the piano was more then I could afford I decided on the keyboard. I researched for a bit and I decided I like the Yamaha PSR E233. Its pretty basic and I'm not really interested in all the different features, although it is pretty cool. It does the trick for me and I'm very happy with it and Yamaha is well known for its products. Its easy to operate, and its fun.
It comes with a sort of features, which is very cool, and easy to use.
I think the quality is good, its well made and like I mentioned its a Yamaha product, you can't go to wrong with Yamaha.
I think its very affordable and you get a lot for your money.

I brought this for my wife as her Xmas present as she was missing her many years old keyboard that stop working some time ago. She is delighted, finds it easy to use, loves the many different voices. The only "snag" that I can see is that the keyboard is quite large and bulky and that you will need to buy the separate power adapter or you will burn through a lot of AA batteries. Overall an excellent product.

We are having a great time with this keyboard - our whole family is getting involved, and we love it. It is easy to uae and has so many options that we have barely begun to get the full enjoyment of it -admitally, we have only had it for a couple of weeks. Easy to use and sounds great.
I would recomment that the box that it is shipped in be placed inside another box to hide the lettering - for security reasons so that its contents would not be disclosed. Also the box came with a puncture hole in it. The contents (keyboard) was not damaged, but the box is obviously not strong enough to withstand abuse from the shipper.

Yahama always has a better sound in electronic keyboards and it does have tough sensitive keys somewhat. You can't do any better for the price.

Great Keyboard for a young learner. You can't beat the price. Many of the folks I talk to don't want to spend a bunch on someone just starting out. Especially if you aren't sure they'll stick with it. This is the perfect deal for you. If they keep on learning great! If they have a change of heart, you can resell it and not lose much, if anything... Go for it!

This is a Christmas gift for my daughter. I would recommend that Musician's Friend put a plain box around anything that comes from other companies. This keyboard showed up on my doorstep with the original manufacturer packaging which shows the keyboard that is inside. This is a good advertisement for THEFT while people are at work!
