    Product Price $10,299.00

Gibson's original f-hole guitar, the L-5 was first produced in 1922 and by the '40s it was the preferred guitar of big band musicians. In fact, now-legendary guitarists like West Montgomery favored the L-5 over any other model (which led to him receiving his own custom model). In 1951, Gibson released their first electrified L-5 guitar that featured a set of P-90 single-coil pickups, and its popularity skyrocketed from there. Today, stunning limited editions of L-5 guitars are re-created in the Gibson Shop by master luthiers.

Any one of these L-5 guitars deserve a closer look, but for the sake of kicking off your search, we'll suggesting starting with the Gibson Custom 2015 Wes Montgomery L05 CES Electric Hollowbody in Wind Red. West Montgomery's musical genius has had an enormous impact on his peers and he's considered today to be the most important influential jazz artist of all time. What you have here is a flawless replica of the instrument used by Montgomery in the 1960s. Featuring a high-grade spruce top body, maple back and sides, gold hardware and a single '57 Classic pickup to faithfully capture the unique warm tone and balanced response of the original - simply not enough can be said about this beautiful six-string.

While you're at it, you'll definitely want to feast your eyes on the Gibson Custom 2015 L-5 CES Electric Guitar. The construction of every L-5 is overseen by Jim Hutchins - a Gibson luthier since 1963 - so you better believe that this rhythm box is a blast from the past. From the two '57 Classic humbuckers to the fast-playing vintage neck to the rich artistry of its carved spruce top; the sound, feel and look of this jazz guitar will drop the jaw of even the most discriminating player.

Whether you're here to spoil yourself or simply want to gaze at some musical works of art, you're in for a treat. Browsing these guitars is just as much fun as playing them, so don't hesitate any further to dive into your options. L-5 guitars are still in a class of their own and any guitarist who has an interest in Gibson's illustrious history owes it to themselves to play one at least once in their lifetime.
