A unique mic with vintage Austrian character.

The ADK Vienna MK8 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone that features a sound character defined by subtle sparkle that tends to put the source material slightly forward in the mix. This ADK mic is great for vocalists who want to add sheen to their voices. Unlike the plethora of bright, brighter, and super-bright mics that flood the market, the ADK Vienna MK8's distinctive sparkle is flattering on pop and rock-style vocals, guitars, pianos, and percussion.

Best value for the money hands down

Tested many mics before this one (KSM44, NTK, AT4050) and this was the best out of the box (no eq or compression) for vocals, acoustic guitar. I liked it so much in fact I returned it to buy a matched pair for stereo recording, and it now works as an excellent pair of overheads too! The best way to describe the sound: It's like a cross between an U87 and a C12, but leans more toward the C12. It has such a smooth sparkle on the top end that I used to only be able to get close to reproducing by using a high end eq plug-in like Genwave...on mixdown I almost never have to EQ tracks recorded with this thing, save for a little extra low-mid on a nasaly singer. It just sounds right. If you need to pull the track forward in the mix, just use about a 4:1 ratio and a soft knee and it will be there. Can't say enough good things about this mic(s)! If it was multi-patterned like the AT4050, it could very well be the most versatile mic of all time.
