I purchased this mic for my singer (I'm the guitar player). He has never used anything other than an SM-58. I could not tell a difference in the dynamics between this mic and the SM-58. The mic is sensitive and has plenty of gain with no distortions in the signal whatsover. I'll admit, I was a little skeptical when I purchased this mic because of the price. However, the other reviews were positive so I didn't figure it would be a huge mistake given the cost. I soundchecked the mic before our singer got there and I was totally impressed with sound. We had absolutely NO issues with interference and the sound remained solid and noise free up to 100 feet from the receiver. We play mostly mid-sized clubs and this mic is more than enough for that. Bottom line.....A fantastic sounding, quality microphone with a minimal price tag! I would definitely recommed this mic.........
This mic only offers one frequency, however, that shouldn't be an issue if you using it in an area that doesn't have a lot of wireless RF usage. It might be an issue in a metropolitan area where several devices may be using that frequency. The 30 hour battery life for one "AA" battery is fantastic! A lot of wireless devices use 9V batteries. They don't last very long and are very expensive, so that feature is definately a plus.
The mic is solidly built from a hard plastic and has a metal windscreen. The mic itself is not very heavy. I'm going to assume that it wouldn't withstand throwing it against a brick wall time and time again, but I don't figure that the $400 mics would withstand that either. The receiver is solidly built and compact (a plus).
For the money, I don't think that this microphone can be beat!

I've had to return 2 of these mics because if you have the mic turned off you get a nasty squeal from the receiver. Only way to stop that is to have mic on mute which of course isn't great for the battery. Also if you get out of range there will be bad pops and drop outs. I've seen others on review have same problem so buyer beware.

Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
This product never worked for us. The range on the mic is about 10 feet. Any further than that it starts to pop. Also, when we put the mic into the off position, it makes a unbearable squelching noise. Because I did not get a chance to use the mic for a couple of months, I was not able to return it. So I sent back to the manufacturer. After they sent the mic back it continued to do the same thing.
Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
Of course that the expensive sounds good, but for general applications, this is the best mic, with clear transmition, no interferences and quality with a rasonable price..

I purchased the Ch. A model. Used for the officiant for an outdoor wedding ceremony utilizing one Bose L1 compact speaker. The sound clarity was excellent. No crackling or drop-outs. Also used indoor for speeches during the wedding reception without any problems. Distance of both setups were 50 - 85 feet w/o interference, noise, or RF problems.
Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
This is the mic i ever used.
This mic has slim to no features. The only thiung i can think of is that the buttons are big and easy to use.
I have only had this mic for about 4 months. But i love how its so small and esy to transport. That comes in handy for djs.
Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
we bought this for the church a few months back and the sound is very clear. the recevier is up in the balcony a little over 100 ft away from the pul pit and sits by our mixer. The signal is clear no humming or static of any kind. overall I would recommned this mic it has a good sound for the price you give. Also love that fact that on one double A batterie it last for 30 hrs. This is good becuase many wireless mic run on a 9 volt which if lucky may last for 12 hrs and 9volt are more expensive. So all and all for the price and the sound quaility it really is a nice mic.
Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
Our church was using really bad mipro's. We had not budget but needed a wireless for announcements, etc.
Our range is about 50-60 ft. and so far this mic has been incredible. Crystal clear vocals, no feedback issues, has yet to drop out or get staticy. Used once in a pinch for BGV's and sounded fine. I would definitely get this if you are in a crunch. Perfect for smaller venues or a youth space, or for bar bands playing small gigs...
Too few to be disappointed in. Wish it had XLR and at least rack mounts option...
Everything that could/should be metal is plastic...

Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
I picked one of these up at a pawn shop that worked sporadically for really cheap. It eventually decided to completely stop working. So naturally I decided to take it apart. My thinking usually is, it's broken, what do I have to lose? I took the grille off of the top and decided to take off the glue that was holding the wires in place. Lo and behold, one of the wires going to the mic capsule was not soldered on that well. I soldered that back on and used a little more solder to try and get it a little more secure. It's a really realy easy solder job for just about anyone and it works good as new and now it doesn't cut out and stop working. This is probably a super easy fix if anyone else comes across this. It has been going great for a few months after fixing this.

Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
This mike worked fantastic! Crystal clear, long distance with no drop or cut outs, ease of use that you could hand it to unskilled hands and get great results. Plug and play and a single AA battery - no special 4 pack or rechargeable pack needed. I was DJ to a very famous personality and a lot was on the line. They requested a wireless and I knew it would have to be dependable and have great sound. Musician's Friend recommended this model and I knew from my recording background AKG were proline. The base unit registers if it is getting signal from the microphone which is helpful and gives comfort that everything is working. The microphone also has a mute switch worth its weight in gold. Really great mike and system. Saved the day!

Stands up very well with wireless mics costing 4 times as much. bought this to replace a Shure PG24/PG58 system ($299) and was not disappointed. I did not "A/B" the two systems but the sound was clear, uninterrupted, and had a range of >100'.

Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
Handling the microphone was very noisy. No matter what I tried, too much noise came through the transmitter. A replacement was sent and it has the same problem. Otherwise, I thought it was a very good unit, but I couldn't have that much noise onstage
Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
This is good little microphone set up. It is good use for smaller setting, small churches, etc. If you are going to be outdoors or larger venues, it may not work for the distance you need. But for the price and overall use during small events, very good mic so far.

Comments about AKG WMS 40 Mini Vocal Wireless System:
Just received this microphone and I am very impressed with it so far. While the build quality is not great, since it's plastic, it is still weighted well and feels good in the hand.
When first hooking it up I was worried because it sounded quite hollow and the mids were a tad overwhelming. That was hooked up straight to my speakers though. Once I patched it through my board I was amazed by the sound quality this little fellow provided with minor EQ adjustments.
The on/mute/off switch works perfectly and doesn't make a lot of noise when being switched.
The casing, being plastic, does cause a bit of noise if you are moving your hand over it. Once I use it in a live show I'll know better how much that will affect things. Until then I give this microphone a solid 5 stars.
Well worth the money IMHO.
