I was made aware of these mic's by a sound guy at a club I regularly perform at in Philly area as he used these both as a instrument mic and vocal occasionally. I check online and musician friend of course had them the cheapest so I bit the bullet, but with caution as the price was so low. Used at an outside gig as a vocal mic and at a rehearsal with both an R&B & Country band and was I pleasantly surprised. Mic's sounded great and looking to get 2 more to have as backups to my older Shure sm58's. So far so good and looking forward to see how long these guys will last. Can't give 5 stars yet as I've just gotten them but again so far so good and looking to get a few more of these mic's to have on had.

I bought this as a Stupid Deal of the Day special. Periodically, I host "Open Mic" nights, and I don't like to use my expensive microphones for this purpose. Thought I would take a chance, because the price was right. It appears to be ruggedly built, and the sound quality is really pretty good. It is a brighter sounding mic. It was well worth the price I paid. One major issue I have noticed is that if you handle it while live, it is very noisy. The body is not well shielded from noise. Any touching, tapping, etc. on the body comes through loud and clear. So depending on your intended use, this is a good option.

    Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt and mic's came earlier than I expected. MF is great in that respect. Always right on time, and very good with sending notices on when to expect the equipment I purchase.

    Amazing value

    By Roshster

Comments about Alto DVM5 Handheld Dynamic Microphone:

Got the mike on sale, and I was leery. But side by side with Shure SM58 and Senn e835 you would need a meter to discern frequency differences. Good proximity, low feedback, nice roll-off on the lows. If they go on sale again I will grab two more. While they're an "off-brand", the quality seems reliable.

Comments about Alto DVM5 Handheld Dynamic Microphone:

When I'm not performing myself I run production for other bands in my area and I bought two of these for that purpose. First impressions from sight alone makes singers a little weary to use it but once they've tried it they love it. Especially my drummer who does part of the lead vocals in my band. It is quite resistant to feedback at high levels in the monitors. I'll buy two more once they go back on sale.

    very good microphone

Comments about Alto DVM5 Handheld Dynamic Microphone:

these mics are exactly the same as the Talent DM1 DM3 3pack microphones sold by Parts Express, the internal microphone capsule is the same as are the specs, they both sound great and blow away the competition for cheap microphones, don't be fooled these mics perform like their more expensive brothers

Comments about Alto DVM5 Handheld Dynamic Microphone:

Very limited use so far, but I put it side by side with a an SM58 for about a minute during a set up. First impressions were that it favored the low mids more than the Shure and "may" be more sensitive to plosives. Seemed pleasing to the ear, and well made - certainly adequate for a back up, and maybe really good for certain users. It's unfortunate that I can't seem to find any specs or response charts. Maybe a one-run from China with an Alto label. At the SDOTD price, it's a steal. I'll add more when I have the chance to wring it out a bit.

Comments about Alto DVM5 Handheld Dynamic Microphone:

Bought this on a SSD . Normal pricing much higher, compared it to an AKG which cost less. Prefer the AKG over this one which has a darker tone. I'll keep this one for the back up mic.

Comments about Alto DVM5 Handheld Dynamic Microphone:

I purchased two of these microphones to be used with a small PA for General use at a community Theatre. They sounded surprisingly good, which led me to take one home and record it next to a Shure sm58. You would be hard-pressed to tell the difference. It fared well in terms of frequency response next to the SM 58 when analyzed with my recording software. The difference between the two microphones was its proximity effect. I actually like the Alto better. Of course, the sm58 is a classic, but I dare you to do a blind test of both microphones and see how that goes. You would be surprised.

Grabbed one of these on a SDOTD. The mic sounds ok. My only issue is handling noise. As long as you keep it in the mic stand & don't touch it, all is good. Using it as an emergency back up mic.

Very happy with these and they have been rock solid since I've gotten them. Bought several at a great price, and have recommended to other musician friends.

Comments about Alto DVM5 Handheld Dynamic Microphone:

In an A/B comparison with a low-end Samson, the Samson's freq range compared comfortably above the DVM5. However, the warmth of the DVM5 approaches that of a moderately priced large diaphragm mic like an AKG C3000. Best use is probably limited to high range vocals to combat any screech factors.
