OVERVIEW

Studio monitoring soultion with 8" LF driver.

Bookshelf monitors are a crowded category within the landscape of music products, but an incredibly inmportant one. There is no way Behringer was going to stay on the sidelines of this category, so they did a bit of corporate rading and wooed one KRK's chief speaker designers away and set him to the task of creating Behringer's new line of studio monitors. The Behringer K8 is the largest of the designs in the K Series monitors, and is a great choice for anyone whose studio can accommodate an 8" bookshelf monitor and that needs to have a good, clear, detailed image of bass performance in program material.

Why Studio Monitors are so Important
The goal of a great studio monitor is to present an accurate representation of your mix, so you can tell how well it will translate to the diverse listening environments and systems of today, such as car stereos, club sound systems, radio, portable digital music players and others. The remarkably flat response of the NEKKST K8 allows you to work with the complete confidence that your mixes will œplay accurately on these systems and to your audience at large.

Keith R. Klawitter - the Man Who Invented Studio Monitors
The ultra-linear, 100-Watt reference-class NEKKST K8 was designed by renowned acoustic icon and founder of KRK, Keith R. Klawitter “ a man who has devoted much of his life to the quest for the "perfect" loudspeaker. The K8 features Keith's advanced Waveguide technology for the ultimate in acoustic dispersion, which generates an extremely large œsweet zone for easy and optimal monitoring. A true bi-amped system, an ingenious crossover design and separate amplifiers are utilized for high and low-frequency signals, providing superb sound reproduction from the long-throw, deformation-resistant, glass-fiber cone woofer and pristinely-accurate, silk-dome tweeter. The NEKKST K8 not only satisfies seasoned engineers and producers, but makes audiophile-level sound accessible to both home and professional recording studio applications.

Bi-Amplification - The Path to Absolute Signal Integrity
With its 100 ultra-clean Watts of output, delivered through separately-powered drivers via a true bi-amping mode with 2 amplifiers per speaker, the K5 delivers high-resolution sound that really brings out the best in your music. You will notice that most competitors apply simple passive crossovers, which not only inaccurately separate the frequency spectrum, but most importantly impact the drivers' performance. BEHRINGER has gone the extra mile, driving each woofer and tweeter with a separate amplifier for absolute signal integrity.

Environmentally Friendly
The ability for a studio monitor to adapt to a wide range of acoustic conditions is of paramount importance, and the NEKKST K5 delivers extreme versatility in this arena. K5' rear panel features switches for adjusting high and low frequency response, compensating for varying room attributes, or for pairing with a dedicated subwoofer. Independently controlled limiters protect both the woofer and tweeter against overload.

Connectivity and Compatibility
Since a monitor' output is only as good as its input, the NEKKST K5 includes a servo-balanced front end and accepts XLR, TRS and unbalanced RCA connectors for extremely-flexible connectivity. The high-density composite enclosure guarantees ultra-low diffraction and reduced low-frequency distortion.

Comments about Behringer NEKKST K8 Audiophile Bi-Amped 8" Studio Monitor:

I received these over six months ago from MF, packaged well and arrived in fine order. They were recommended by a Musician Friend phone representative after a brief discussion concerning my needs, intended usage and money I desired to spend.
Now that they have a track record with me, I will comment.
I utilize these to monitor my guitar/bass/drum track recording and mix down sessions in my diminutive pseudo apartment studio.
Very pleased with the detailed image of sound, the built in room and frequency compensating controls are very useful and offer flexibility to fine tune the acoustic signature of my recording playback.
I tend to be abusive to monitor speakers as I use them as a "rhythm section" playback to practice passages or record additional guitar tracks at loud volume occasionally when my neighbors are not around.
For me more volume means more fullness and delight in the audio experience, as a bandmate once said, "high volume is just goodliest", I always agreed.
Fully anticipated toasting these monitors by now, yet they have hung right in there and show no signs of audio decay or degradation.
For the modest cost, my usage and the performance delivered, I am very pleased and would certainly recommend them to anyone searching for monitors in this price range.
