This Educational version of the Mbox 2 Pro is specially priced for purchase by K-12 and higher education institutions, instructors at such institutions and currently enrolled students (including those who are home-schooled). Proper documentation, such as a school PO, faculty/student ID, or documentation from an applicable governing body recognizing the school/home school as an accredited education institution, must be provided in order to use and register this product.

Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro brings the speed, power, and reliability of FireWire to Digidesign's portable, high-definition, audio/MIDI music production system. The Mbox 2 Pro's high-speed FireWire-powered connectivity delivers more simultaneous audio I/O and connection options with studio-grade 24-bit/96kHz audio resolution as well as low-latency monitoring. Powered the Mbox 2 Pro by FireWire bus (6-pin connection only) or the included power supply.

The Mbox 2 Pro has four analog inputs”2 combo XLR/TRS jacks, 2 TRS 1/4" jacks”and six 1/4" analog outputs. Two of the inputs are front panel Hi-Z instrument jacks. The XLR inputs have 48V phantom power for use with condenser microphones. It also has S/PDIF digital I/O; an RCA phono preamp input for direct turntable connection; dedicated studio monitor outputs with volume control; 2 stereo headphone outputs with independent volume controls and an alternate source switch; and MIDI I/O. It also offers professional features such as MIDI Time Stamping support, Word Clock I/O, dedicated studio monitor outputs, and the award-winning, easy-to-use Pro Tools LE software. Pro Tools LE offers many of the same features that top studios rely on to compose, record, edit, mix, and master Grammy-winning albums and Academy Award-winning film sound on their Pro Tools systems. It also comes with over many bundled plug-ins and applications, including DigiRack plug-ins, Bomb Factory plug-ins, and the Xpand! sample-playback/synthesis workstation.
