A completely integrated computer recording system with USB mixer/interface, Cubase AI4, and Lexicon effects.

The Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio Bundle quite literally contains all the components you need to transform your computer into a professional 24-bit recording studio”all in one box. Nothing is more frustrating than buying a "recording system," only to find out that you need a gaggle of extras just to make it all work. You won't have that problem here.

The Omega Studio Bundle is a completely integrated computer recording system that includes the Omega 8x4x2 USB I/O mixer, Steinberg's Cubase LE audio and MIDI recording software, and Lexicon's world-class Pantheon VST Reverb plug-in.

A Real Mixer
Unlike standard computer I/O boxes based on a patch bay concept, the Lexicon Omega Studio is designed and built around the same paradigm as large-format recording consoles. An 8-input, 4-Bus, 2-output USB I/O mixer with inserts, instrument input, MIDI I/O and complete metering and monitoring functions gives you the freedom to record up to 4 tracks at once and mix without the need for additional mixing hardware.

Two dbx Silver Series mic preamps with 48V phantom power provide a pristine front end for high-end condenser or more common dynamic microphones, ensuring premium sound quality from the first take to the last. TRS insert points allow you to plug in your favorite dynamic processors before the signal reaches one of the 4 busses, where 24-bit converters transform the analog signal into a digital masterpiece.

Four servo-balanced TRS line inputs with up to +22dBu input levels let you hook up everything from keyboards to guitar preamps, including high-output professional gear. Stereo digital inputs are available via S/PDIF jacks, and an additional high-impedance instrument input is included on the front panel for easy access to guitars and basses.

Finally, it has a fully opto-isolated MIDI input to ensure there is no annoying ground loop hum or MIDI talk-through noise common with many I/O boxes and sound cards. The MIDI output has a rock-solid synchronization-to-USB frame rate to support applications requiring critical sync.

The Omega I/O mixer also features channel peak indicators for each analog input as well as an assignable bargraph meter for the 4 busses. By monitoring the signal before the A/D converters, clipping and distortion can be averted, unlike software-only level monitoring that can miss "overs", ruining the track.

All these are put together just like a big recording console, with input gain controls, four recording busses, and full monitoring features, in one attractive, portable I/O Mixer. Just plug it into your Mac or PC computer with the included USB cable, and you're instantly ready to capture the moment.

    Lots of setbacks

Comments about Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio Bundle:

I bought this unit and had constant issues with it. I had to reboot my computer and reset the Omega literally every 20-30 minutes or however long it took for the Omega to get warm and shut down. After removing the casing I got an extra 10-15 minutes of use at a time out of it but still full of glitches.

    No 64-bit Drivers

    By Music=Life

Comments about Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio Bundle:

I was very excited to find a recording setup with the features and specs that the Omega has. Unfortunately, these became a non-issue when I determined that there are no 64-bit drivers for the Omega or any of the other Lexicon products (that I've seen). If you opt for the Omega and have a 32-bit OS, then you will likely be pleased. Latency on a 32-bit system is nearly zero. Vista and Win 7 have generic drivers that will allow the Omega to operate, but you will likely experience latency issues or other problems like stuttering. For reference, I was using Sonar 8. Win 7 Ultimate; Intel Quad Core 830 8gb Ram; 7500RPM HD.

    Lexicon Omega - Keep Looking!

    By Don't Buy Lexicon Omega

    from New England

Comments about Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio Bundle:

I rate this product this low because for me, it was useless across several high-end computers and 3 different OS. The reverb plug-in was very good so it didn't get across the board 0.5I purchased this product while running XP on a fast quad-core w/4G mem- about 18 months ago. This was for a home setup on a Windows system (first mistake you say?- yup...) The driver was almost useless and needed re-installation several times. I eventually used "ASIO for All" instead & that helped. Cubase LE initially worked well (for a low end program) and once I had a "stable install", I registered it. I was offered an update for the program a couple of weeks later and installed it. That immediately corrupted the program AND the Omega install. It took several installs/uninstalls to get things running correctly. I subsequently received a message that I needed to register Cubase (again), but received error messages that the registration was not valid when I tried... Steinberg/Lex. were FAR less than helpful. I Attempted this card with several other decent audio programs- On 3 fast comps w/fast multimedi HDs & no less than 4G and up to 8G memory- ALL HAD PROBLEMS, typically resulting in crash and corruption, I never dared try it at the studio on our Mac OS, I put it away and purchased a better card for home. Just tonight I found out there is a "New" driver so I downloaded it and took this card out for another chance w/ Win7 32 and 64- I enabled on-board sound on one box and had better performance with the same Audio software. The new driver is 64bit "compatible"- it installs into the 64bit folder but analysis shows 32bit operation. The reverb actually sounds very good. I would have gone 0.5 across the board otherwise but KEEP LOOKING it's not a $200 plug-in!

Comments about Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio Bundle:

It does the work but there are not so many features and for the price you con get a better interface so dont bother and get an M-audio interface instead. The alpha its good for the price but this one isnt!... youll be able to use protools with most m-audio interfaces if not all and get better sound and quality!
