A studio monitor that offers accurate listening in any acoustic environment.

The M-Audio Studiophile CX5 near-field studio monitor combines proprietary driver design, custom waveguides, seamless crossover integration, and advanced Acoustic Space controls. The result is a best-in-class studio monitor with excellent off-axis response, minimal distortion, an expansive soundstage, and the flexibility to adapt to any production space. The Studiophile CX5 speaker brings exceptionally accurate monitoring to any acoustic environment.

Image Conscious
Most near-field monitors require close and specific placement to yield acceptable stereo imaging. Years of research and work with waveguide design culminate in the amazing continuity, breadth and depth of the M-Audio Studiophile CX5 soundstage. M-Audio's custom OptImage IV waveguide design improves overall detail and clarity. It also controls the dispersion pattern of the mids and highs, offering a much wider soundstage than traditional waveguides. As a result, the Studiophile CX5 monitor delivers an accurate, detailed representation of your mix with a remarkably broad sweet spot.

Tailor the Speaker to Your Room
Your listening environment and speaker placement greatly impact the performance of your monitors. To ensure effective monitoring in your unique production space, the M-Audio Studiophile CX5 monitor offers Acoustic Space controls for tailoring each speaker to your room. Acoustic Space settings include -4dB, -2dB and Flat. The CX5 Studio Monitor also features LF Cutoff, MF Boost and HF Trim switches for additional customization. These settings help to optimize frequency response within even the most difficult acoustic environments.

Optimized Frequency Response
The finely tuned integration of acoustic and electronic design elements in the M-Audio CX5 monitor delivers cohesive sound”from solid bass, to well-defined mids, to smooth, transparent highs. Featuring a high-grade damping surround, the premium, Kevlar, low-frequency driver maximizes excursion to provide clear, articulate low end with bass impact you'd expect from a larger speaker enclosure. The silk-dome, high-frequency driver with oversized 1.25-inch voice coil delivers an exceptional high-frequency response up to 30kHz.

Ample Headroom
The M-Audio CX5 Studio Monitor's components are designed to work together so that the entire system has superior headroom. You get lower high-frequency distortion and reduced listener fatigue compared to other monitors in its class. The bi-amplified design dedicates 50 watts for the lows and 40 watts for the highs. The low-frequency driver's venting and large voice coil provide both thermal and acoustic headroom. The high-frequency driver features an optimized, sealed rear chamber for more audible headroom (as well as lower frequency extension for greater mid-range clarity) than similarly priced monitor speakers. These factors also contribute to a more uniform response at a variety of listening levels. Using M-Audio Stuiophone CX5 Studio Monitors you can work longer without fatiguing your speakers or your ears.

Great for the money

Comments about M-Audio Studiophile CX5 Studio Monitor:

I was looking for a full range monitor. I was looking at a lot with 8" woofers. But they all sounded kinda muddy. Then I listened to these and they had full tight bass, exactly what I was looking for. Highs and mids sound great as well. These translate great. Perfect for me.

Comments about M-Audio Studiophile CX5 Studio Monitor:

Bought a pair of these about 6 months ago. They sounded great. But all of a sudden the right speaker just stop working. I contacted M-Audio about bthis problem. But never heard from them. Terrible customer serevice and support. Have since got a pair of Mackie MR5. So far so good with these.

Comments about M-Audio Studiophile CX5 Studio Monitor:

Best I have used, would buy again if I ever needed to.
Has all the inputs I could ask for, along with a few switches to tune them to your space.
Compared to the older M-audio monitors, these are incredible. I have replaced KRK RP-5's with these monitors. These have a better overall finish, and have a professional look.
I bought these at a great price. The monitors do not reflect this. These would be a value at twice what I paid for them. I feel like M-Audio knows this, as the list price is much higher than most in this price range when compared to actual selling price.

Comments about M-Audio Studiophile CX5 Studio Monitor:

for the money they're hard to beat. I needed a more portable pair of monitors for my remote cottage and these fit the ticket. a few switches on the back help to customize them for the room. they take xlr, 1/4, and rca ins, and also work on 110/240 (for you travelers). a BIG step up from M-Audio's B-line. My regular monitors (in my bigger studio) are Mackie HR824 (the originals).

Comments about M-Audio Studiophile CX5 Studio Monitor:

I ended up with the Fostex PM0.4 Studio Monitors, excellent accurate response. If you want low oomph, get a subwoofer - but ya still should turn it off for real-world mixes.
These speakers, well ya get what ya pay for.
Plenty of inputs
Doesn't cause cancer
I (fortunately) didn't buy these but auditioned them extensively in store before looking elsewhere. If you are the type that thinks BIG bass is really cool, dude, these are for you!
If you have actual discerning ears and want a flat response - as a studio monitor should have - walk away from these. They sound muddy with poor mid and high range definition. The freq. response chart confirmed it: boosted low response, inaccurate overall. Guaranteed to give you a lousy mix in the studio.
If cheap is all that matters, here ya go!
