I just received the PA last week. I didn't realize it would be quite so heavy (53 lbs.), but with the handle, it's fairly easy to roll. I had read the reviews about how flimsy the handle was, but I've found that if if you just extend the handle halfway instead of all the way out, that it gives much more support and still rolls quite well. I'm sure there's a fairly simple way to improve on the design and make it more durable.I bought this unit to use at home with 1 channel for vocal and 1 channel for an acoustic Alvarez with an ancient pickup that I installed in the 70s. The other 2 channels are for guest pickers or singers who may stop in from time to time.I bought a Danelectro Fab Chorus box on the same order (20 bucks, can you believe it?), and though some have said it's a lousy product, I find it to be a really great Chorus, and it fattens up my old Alvarez to the max.It would be nice to have a little more EQ selections, but with low, mid, and high adjustments on the Master controls, and low and high on the channels, you can dial in a really good sound.I'm running a HotSpot monitor out of the extra speaker jack. It's 16ohms, but speaker higher than 8ohms, or 8ohms, works fine. I tried plugging in one of my large speakers that I have for my other PA, and the sound was great. If you need a basic system for an acoustic instrument or two, and a vocal or two, this system should serve you well!

I'd like to comment on this product as far as the fan noise. I just received mine and the thing was grinding something terrible. I called tech support and they say to run this thing for 30 minutes to see if it takes care of it. I knew better with the noise its making. I opened up the unit to find the wires going up to the head were sitting on the fan and being drawn into it. A quick fix with a wire tie like it should have come from the factory and all is well now. If your unit is making more noise then it should I'd bet this is the issue. If its louder then a PC fan, something is hitting it. Save yourself the hassle and fix it yourself if you know how.As Far as Sound, this is a budget based portable sound system without a lot of bells and whistles to it. Not bad, but you get what you pay for.

Versatile unit with lousy effects

By Bob Dumon-gjHqY

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I like the convenience of rolling in a complete PA system, other than the mics, but it doesn't provide phantom power so my AT "bell" instrument mic I use on my trumpet would not work with this unit. I've ordered a separate NADY Phantom Power unit for only $20. The fan is a little noisy, but was not bothersome to us. However the "effects" are horrible, and essentially non-existent. All they do is "distort" the sound, not in any way enhance it. To call these "effects" reverb is simply not accurate. Other than that it's plenty powerful enough, and I'm satisfied with it overall.

Nady

By David-SM7Tc

from Sterling, OK

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I purchased the Nady RPA-4 to reinforce our 4 member country gospel band. We run vocals through it and also use it to mic some of our acoustic instruments. Our Bass guitar and Mandolin players use separate amps, so 4 channels is just right. I also bought a couple of Nady SP-33 mics and they sound great through the system. The Nady RPA-4 has enough power to play a medium sized room (100-150 people), and does a good job reinforcing exactly what you put into it. On the down side, the unit could use a little more eq adjustibility and the continuous running cooling fan (for the amp) gets annoying. Also, If you want to rock your venue with a hair-splitting stereo mix, this may not be the unit for you. However, this little Nady nails it when it comes to portability, affordability, and use-ability for someone who simply wants a little amplification.

No so great, then it died

By Unhappy Nady Owner

from Round Rock, TX

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

The "effects" are virtually unusable, and the sound of the constant fan is particularly annoying. The range of features is nice, particularly the effects loop, tape in and outs, and line out and external speaker jacks. Unfortunately, mine just stopped working entirely after about 2 hours of use, and now I'm faced with the expense of shipping it to California for serivce. So much for economical. If you're looking for something like this, keep looking.

Worth the money

By Secondchancejd

from Missouri

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I travel all over the state of Missouri to present to groups of 100+ children. This system works beautifully. I use a cd player for music and two mics for performers. Biggest disappointment is that the pull-out handle broke. (not well made in the first place) The unit is very heavy and now hard to roll since the pull-out handle is no longer usable.

I have owned the NADY RPA-4 for about 8 months and have been completely satisfied with it. I read one complaint about the fan being too loud but I cannot hear the fan on mine unless I put my ear down close to th unit. For the money, you can't beat it.Bob Rochelle,GA

Excellent Portable PA

By Gentle Country

from Grand Forks, ND

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I can't say enough good about this unit. My wife and I normally use it with 2 vocal mikes, accordion, and keyboard. Using a small auxiliary mixer (2 mikes into 1 channel) and the Effects Out port (guitar)I sometimes plug in 5 mikes and an acoustic-electric guitar. The sound is great -true, crisp, and clear with no feedback problems.

Broken out of box - cheap components!

By RDP Entertainment-Kq9VH

from Scott City, KS

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I just purchased one of these roller units RPA-4 for a portable loudspeaker setup. I figured that I would try it, and for the price I didnt expect miracles. Ive never been so dissapointed in my life. The tweeter was rattling around inside the box broken off. I heard it even before I opened the shipping box. Upon investigating with a flashlight through the grill, I found that there is less than 1/8 inch of pressed fiberboard that keeps it in place. Nady = Never Again. I will stick with my JBL's.

Drum Monitor For The Masses

By Vaughn--C7t6

from Jackson, MO

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

After some research on the features and size (and wheels)I bought this about 3 weeks ago. I needed a keyboard type amp to use as a on stage monitor with my Yamaha DTX set in live settings. This thing is GREAT! The sound is great, it works great, and will get loud even playing drums through it. I use the line out to go out to the main PA, and I have a mini mixer for myself. I also use one of the input back from the PA to monitor vocals (and I have EQ for my vocal monitoring. Buy one and plug a mic in, keyboards, bass, CD player, drums............you can't beat it for the money!!! oh and the amp section is even fan cooled!!!!!!

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I bought this to use in my home with a keyboard, Fender Bass, Fender Strat, occasional vocal mic, and a set of V-drums. I use it for performances in small venues, and home studio. It works spendidly. My only complaint is that the handle broke within a few days of purchase. I was able to perform my own repair and it now functions adequately. I love the compact size and excellent quality. This thing plays my V-drums and my Bass and my Guitar very well. Vocals sound good on it it also with my Shure Mic. I dont have to mess with setting up tripods and hoisting speakers around. tilt back and roll!! Thats it.

Fan's too noisy

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

Fan's too noisy, so i don't recommend the RPA-4.power switch in awkward position: behind and almost to the floor. it wheels ok, but certainly not as easily as a wheeled suitcase, since it it bulkier and heavier. bulkier than i expected. power ok for small venues if you don't mind the whirring of the fan.

Heavy with lousy reverb

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

In addition to weighing a ton, this unit's sound quality is really lame. The so-called "reverb" effects are not worth using. It does not have phantom power, so you have to buy an external unit if you use a bell mic. I thought it would be more convenient than a separate mixer and speaker, but it isn't. Go with Behringer instead!

Great Portable PA

By Wolf-bOK8A

from Sherman Oaks, CA

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I have a group that meets once a month in a church hall that we rent out. The church PA is ancient so I was looking for something cheap and reasonable and I didn't want to have to lug around stands 2 speakers and a PA head. We have a speaker at a podium with a Q&A session afterwards. This PA rocks! Totally clean and I couldn't believe how small it was and how much power it packs....no feedback all night and EQ was great. We even run a DVD into the tape in to show on a projector before the speaker speaks. Great value! I love how it takes up practically no room in my garage for storage also. Recommend it highly for Professional speakers if you would like to take something light that will even fit in the trnk of your car!

Great for 1 person

By Nansilly

from Petaluma, CA

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I needed a system I could haul myself. I am 60 and female. This is 50# and puts out a good strong sound to a medium size room. I had to build a cover for the top to protect the inputs from spills. Poor design on the unprotected mixer board. Otherwise it's a great sound for vocal and guitar

Excellent small PA

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

Great sounding small system for practice and the occasional solo/midi gig. The price was enough to convince me to buy for an "out of town" spare. I was really suprised with the good sound and utility of an all in one box. 4 good inputs (although elec guitars saound better with a line out or mike) and pole mounting makes this a very economical but punch small PA system. So now I have a system at my out of town office that I don't have to pack back and forth and the ability to run out and play an inpromtu gig. Thanks!

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

This sound system is great for what I do. I do music programs at local resthomes. This system is an EZ up and EZ down. The quality of sound is great. The only thing I would change is the wheels to make them a litle bigger. Thanks NADY for a great product.

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I use it for vocal and miked acoustic guitar. Sounds great. My wife joins in on the vocal with a third mic. Also played around with my old Casio keyboard which sounds REALLY nice. My two daughters plug they're CD player into the RCA Tape In and play piano and sing along into two mikes mixed with the music. Well worth the money.

Absolutely great!

By Carolyn

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

Just purchased the system this week. I'm a church youth counselor and some of our events take us to different spots, many of which don't have PA systems. GREAT with portability. Sound is GREAT. Price is really GREAT. Only thing I wish it has is a way to cover the knobs during transport. Other than that, it's absolutely GREAT!
