The Echo AudioFire4 FireWire Audio Interface is a six-channel unit with all the connections you need for your computer-based studio. With the flexibility of FireWire and bus power, you can also take the AudioFire4 on the road. The AudioFire4 can record 24 bit 96kHz audio with low latency monitoring on any Windows XP or Mac OS X computer (desktop or notebook) with a FireWire port.

It has 2 universal inputs with mic preamps, phantom power, and trim knobs so you can just plug in your microphone or instrument and record whenever or wherever you want. AudioFire4 also comes with 2 balanced analog inputs (TRS), 4 balanced analog outputs (TRS), a stereo headphone output, 2 FireWire ports, S/PDIF I/O, MIDI I/O, and 6 channels of full duplex 24 bit 96kHz recording and playback.

Nice Gear!

Bought mine 6 mos. ago because of numerous good comments from cakewalk forums. I use this just for recording the whole band minus vocals(for editing purpose), 2 channels for drums, 2 channels for bass/lead guitar. I'm planning to buy an Echo Product again.Probably Audiofire 12 sooner.It's just i can't change what to output through headphone.

Best Audio you can get for the price!

I have use Echo AudioFire products (Audiofire 2 & 4 & 8 Pre), All give you the same quality.You get the best Dynamic range available with 114db and the linear response from 10-20KHz with just +-0.1%db & THD+n: <0.002%; None give you that. This gives you clean, deep, sharp & crystal clear sounds.I search and test many sound cards (M-Audio, NI, Numark, Vestax, Prosonus, ESI Maya 44 & U46, SSL-1 & 3 and others) and none of them have beat Echo AudioFire 4. I use for DJing and believe me, nothing even approach to Echo AudioFire. Just comparable to a CDJ-1000 with a cd on it. Have test it in that way in a big club, outstanding!I also use it to record and have found what I was loosing when I record using another sound card. Really you need to hear it to notice the difference, and you will at first try as I do, I'm sure.I still compare this AudioFire 4 with other friends sound cards, none of them give me the quality I have with it, Echo AudioFire is my 1st choice.

fire 4 firewire interface

I used a GINA card made by Echo for about 10 years without any problems. Recently I had a little problem with Sonar, when I called Sonar they told me the problem was the card. Since Gina has served me well all these years, I purchased a new card made by Echo, I got the Audio Fire 4.

The new card gave me the same problem, I called Echo and left a message, they called back the following day and told me the problem was Sonar, they suggested me to call Sonar and if they couldn't resolve the problem to give them a call back.
I called Sonar they fixed the problem. I had to un-check the GINA Card and not use the ASIO driver.

The quality of the card is great, I never used any other card other then these two so I don't have anything to compare to. With the GINA card I made recordings that get air play. This card is as good if not better. The output for the headphones is louder.
I can afford a more expensive card, but I don't think it would have made any difference for what I do.
I would reccomend this card to anyone.
