I got these Mackie Thump15 1000W to replace a pair of JBL Eon 515's. These Mackies are better in all aspects. They have a much bigger sound , much louder , everything ! These are ,with out a doubt, the best bang for the buck in their category. I run two bands and a one-man band with synths and drum modules. These Mackies do the job very well. My other bigger system is a full QSC set up with K12s & KW181s . With these Mackies, I will seldom have to use my big system except in the really larger venues. Big,loud, clear sound. I am very pleased and I have already recommended these to my friends.

Ordered these based on great experience with Mackie mixers over the years. The Alto Truesonic 2 models I wanted were out of stock, so I tried these.
First, they look pretty good. Cabinets are lightweight, and the green power light is a nice touch. That's about where the good ends, IMO.
First off, Mackie really missed the ball when they passed on a Ground Lift switch. Certain buildings have enough electrical issues that 60 cycle hum can be a real annoyance. A ground lift should be a no-brainer on any powered speaker.
Second, the separate eq controls on the speakers are more of a hinderance than a help. Even at "flat" settings, there is way too much mid-bass and the highs are nearly painful... even with eq flat on the board. Bass is not at all what I expected. When you call something "Thump," you expect there to be a ready supply of great bass. Well, these speakers have the oddest sounding bass I've ever experienced. Speakers bottom out very easily, and distort... even a lower volumes.
Third, these speakers are supposed to be rated at 1000 watts, but their lack of presence and response makes them sound much less powerful. Even with the volume dimed on them, the sound is only moderately loud when pushed.
The Altos that I have owned blow these away. These are going back, and I'll wait on the new Truesonics to come in.

Comments about Mackie Thump15 1000W 15 Powered Loudspeaker:
I purchased these speakers to upgrade our sound for bluegrass band to use in small venues. I purchased them based on price/value to power output AND the good reputation that Mackie has had in the past. We used them once with no problem. At that point I was very pleased with the purchase. We store and transported these speakers in a padded and cushioned ATA rolling case. We handle our equipment with extreme care to get maximum life and performance from the equipment. At the second gig that we were going to use them. One speaker would not power on. It was dead. The other speaker had a terrible buzz. We were able to determine that it was coming from inside the speaker-like something rattling. I am taking them in using the Mackie warranty. Let's see if Mackie stands behind their product. I am very disappointed at this point.

Comments about Mackie Thump15 1000W 15 Powered Loudspeaker:
Very good speaker.. not good for a heavy range of sounds ie. Trap music as it overheats and breaks very quickly even at a modest sound level.
For average use it seems to do all right but I still am sketched out at the durability of it.
Great bass and sound until it overheats tho!

Comments about Mackie Thump15 1000W 15 Powered Loudspeaker:
Last fall when i first reviewed the Mackie thump 15, I gave it a pretty good rating. Now after using these speakers for about 10 gigs, I'm pretty disappointed. I am now getting a bad popping, crackling sound out of one of the woofers. These speaker have not been abused or pushed too hard where the clipping light would stay on(occasionally flash). Hopefully Mackie will take care of this issue .

Comments about Mackie Thump15 1000W 15 Powered Loudspeaker:
WOW!Im sure glad I bought these speakers. This gives our traveling gospel group the BIG sound we need for congregations (from small to large churches). The highs are crystal clear and the lows rumble the pews with no problem. These are also lightweight. We used a Yamaha Stagepas before this system and these 15"s weight the same as the 10"s in the stagepass. You cant go wrong with this gear. This is for the progessional musician who is serious about their sound.

Comments about Mackie Thump15 1000W 15 Powered Loudspeaker:
I bought a pair of the Mackie thump 15s and one of the woofers was blown within 9 months. I used the speakers once or twice a month for mobile dj gigs. The speaker was not abused but began making a popping, cracking noise after about 9 months of use. The speaker was under warranty, but Mackie won't help you out. Instead they send you to an authorized repair shop. (May not be in the city you live in). My issue was resolved after several trips to the repair shop, but how long will the speakers last now?

Bought two of these for monitors. Being a 15, I was disappointed in the lack of "thump" when using as a drum monitor. It's okay, but had higher expectations for a Mackie product. Would go 3.5 stars. And geez, the bags for these things are expensive. But gotta have them if you do road work.

I've been using the Thump 15's since I started hosting Karaoke 10 or more years ago. For powered speakers, they are lightweight, and since I travel from event to event, sometimes 4 or 5 nights a week, they have stood up to a lot of abuse. Highly recommend!

These are the first powered speakers I have owned. Never thought I'd get around to using them. Use them for my keyboards mostly, but they are really clean sounding for vocals as well. Combined with my Mackie ProFX22 mixer, this is a combination that can't go wrong... Love those 'Thumps'.

Comments about Mackie Thump15 1000W 15 Powered Loudspeaker:
Hey y`all, this is Stevie Ray Vaughn and these are the best speakers on the planet! Uh, no and no. I'll let my girlfriend's true response be the judge here: "These speakers are awesome, it sounds like a live concert!". She reported this while listening to my Bluetooth adapter directly connected to the inputs while running Pandora on my smartphone. She even liked the looks of them. This comes from a woman who once said speakers shouldn't be in a living room. These are keepers.

Comments about Mackie Thump15 1000W 15 Powered Loudspeaker:
This is probably an unusual use for the Mackie Thump 15 but I bought it to use with my Hammond XK-3c drawbar organ. Since buying the organ I have been looking for a speaker that would provide the lows as well as the highs produced by the organ. Since this is only used in my home for the pleasure of having the organ, I didn't want to spend a great deal of money on the speaker/amp. A friend is using a similar set up for his electric piano for gigs so when I saw the great pricing MF had on this Mackie Thump 15 I thought I would give it a try. This performs as expected for the low end organ tones and also well at the high end. I think it could do a little better job at mid-range. I considered trading this for the Thump 12 thinking there may be less low end which might make the mid-range stand out, but, after making more sound checks and comparison, I thought for use with the organ, the low end is what I was looking for so I kept the Thump 15. To check the range on this speaker I connected it to a CD player and listened to some familiar recordings (organ players) and then compared it to other PA equipment that I own (Mackie SRM 350) listening to the same recordings. The range on both speakers was similar. This Thump 15 has a lot of power and can get very loud (unexpectedly). I have tried some adjustments on the 3-band EQ but this seems to be minimal. This is a relatively light piece of equipment to lift (although bulky due to the size) so I will possibly use this for additional sound reinforcement on gigs from time to time. The price at MF was right if you catch the deal which it looks like they renewed this month. This is a keeper. Others have remarked on possible failures but I have not experienced this with any Mackie equipment having owned several items for years. I don't think I will use this as hard as maybe others will so I expect it to operate just fine for many years.
