The sound quality isn't bad with these headphones. I have some others in the studio and they compare nicely with the others (Bose, Altec). I mostly use them for tracking vocals and acoustic guitar. I have found a couple of annoyances, though. This particular set/model does not identify which side is Left and which is right. I used my mixer to figure out the Left and Right sides and then used my Brother P-Touch to create a label for each side. A musician friend left his HD280 Pro headphones at my studio. His are older, but they are marked L and R. The product photos confirm this. The other annoyance I have noticed with these headphones is that the cable transfers a lot of noise into the left can. If you're listening to something fairly quiet and the cord rubs against your shirt or bumps against something, mechanical noise is transferred into the left side. I haven't noticed that with my other headphones. Even with the problems I have noted I would still recommend these headphones.

These sound good but a little uncomfortable, too tight and can't loosen them. (I have an average size head)
I have several other brand headphones. I like the Sennheiser sound but these are the least comfortable of all my phones. Despite the great care I gave them, the right side just randomly stopped working!!?? I have two sets of Tascam that my kids use all the time (and they are not gentle with them) but they still work fine. The Sennheiser's were left in my studio for my use only and they stopped working????!!!

I like these headphones to listen to music while on my computer and also for practicing on my bass guitar without waking everyone. The headphone are clear enough to hear individuals clapping during live recordings as if you are sitting there in a seat beside them.

The squeezing pressure from these is unbearable. You can adjust how far down the earpieces go but you cannot adjust how tightly they squeeze your head. I'm going to have to send these back due to this problem. Who wants to have headphones that cut off your circulation and give you a headache.

Comments about Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Closed-Back Headphones:

This provides a great sound isolation and sound quality for recording/tracking. Very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The only reason I took away a star is for the coiled cable. I really hate those. I don't like my phones cable hanging in the air extended pulling on the headphones. But nothing a cable extension can't solve. The bass is accurate unlike the ones from the Dr which over emphasize the bass.

I have had these headphones for over 10 years now and i started to use them in the summer on my riding mower. They sound just as good as when i bought them 12 years ago. I still use them for rough mixes and have made master sounding mixes on them with out trying. Ive dropped them, flown internationaly with them, even covered them in sweat and ive only damaged the outer layer. If you want a pair of headphones that sound better than theyre price buy these, you wont be disappointed! :)

Nice clear mids and highs but I found the bass to be very quiet. I almost returned these since I would not use them for mixing, but decided to keep them for tracking. I own other Senheiser headphones as well as Koss and good monitor speakers and none have such weak bass as the 280 pros.

I am very hard of hearing due to Nerve Deafness. I needed a good rock solid pair of headphone for rehearsals as well as Recording Sessions. These Can work excellent for me. Comfortable, Durable and they block out all ambient noise. The sound and clarity are outstanding. Excellent buy for the Price. We now use several pairs as they work so well for us.

The best thing is the sound is almost like being in a acoustically treated room like recording studios use for mixing etc. When I turned up the volume they didn't get harsh or fatigue my ears. I could go on and on but for the money I seriously doubt there is anything better. Very happy with this purchase and got MORE than I expected (which is rare anymore).

Comments about Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Closed-Back Headphones:

I bought these to protect my hearing while playing my drums to music and it has done just that. Very rarely do my ears ring after playing anymore and the sound is really great. They fit perfectly in my backpack whenever I have to take them places with me and they always get the job done when I need them. I use them mostly for practicing drums to music and at times I've used them in a live performance setting. They are by far the best headphones I've used.

I became very frustrated shopping the internet for headphones. All I wanted was a decent pair of good-sounding headphones to listen to my music off the home stereo unit. Plain and simple. But nowadays there are so many versions of so many products it's very easy to become overwhelmed! When I bought these headphones I was at my wit's end and just took a chance. Turns out, I ended up with stereo headphones that are exactly what I wanted: excellent clear sound, bass and treble, lightweight and comfortable, good-looking. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR GOOD STEREO HEADPHONES TO LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC FROM YOUR HOME STEREO, THESE FIT THE BILL NICELY!

Bought these to replace some Tascam headphones with a poorly constructed plug. These work fine for monitoring. That's what I use them for; monitoring in my little music studio.

I had originally bought some Tascams, but I really couldn't hear the mix properly. I kept asking the engineer to turn up the vocal in my mix. He didn't understand because he was wearing Senheisers and he could hear everything (and we didn't have separate headphone mixes). These are much better; I'm getting a nice balance, along with clarity. With headphones, you really do get what you pay for.
