only thing to put on a technics deck

By Alex-yrRWl

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

This is my favorite needle ever. tank like durability, and LOUD. sometimes the bass is a bit much, but just nudge it down on your mixer, no problem. if you adjust it slightly less than recommended, it is harder to make it skip than to keep it in the groove, even with less than recommended weight. in my opinion these are the only thing to put on your table.

Excellent Choice

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

Facts are that these needles are better for your records than Ortofon. They have clearer and more dynamic overall sound quality, and are durable if transported in a Shure case. The Ortofon provides a more crisp scratching sound if you're fast enough at the hand. But for sound quality, you can't beat this Shure. Best thing I like about this is that because the bass is deeper and the mids and highs are better clarified, DJs going from CD to Vinyl in a mix have less of a sound variation. BUY THE CASE! KEEP THE CARTRIDGE AT AN ANGLE AS SPECIFIED IN THE DIRECTIONS, OR ELSE HIP HOP SCRATCHING WON'T WORK.

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

Purchased 2 of these SHURE M-44-7 along with 2 AUDIO-TECHNICA LP-120usb turntables. These carts are a perfect fit. Great Sound, Low Record Wear, and the N55E and the N44 and N44-7 all fit these carts, for different tracking forces. I use these in my home studio and Dj service. The radio station, I work for, uses the SHURE M44-7 for their ON AIR Turntables. Good enough for Radio Stations, Great for ME. I Highly recommend these over the stock cart that comes with the Audio-Technica Turntable.

      The Best

      By DJ Rovai

      from San Franciso, CA

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

I dont know how you can engineer a better cartridge. I use these every Friday night at my DJ gigs, and I put them through hell with all the scratching. Yet they still look and sound brand new. The skip resistance is unbelieveable. One night I actually tried to make it skip. I tried it seven times, and it only skipped once. The sound quality is as good as Ortophon at a cheaper price. This is the best cartridge a DJ can have. Especially Hip-Hop DJs.

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

I bought these cartridges after my ortofons went bad... Glad I got them.. Clear strong punchy sound when the needle hits the vinyl. Perfect for the audiophile, DJ, or Producer/Beat Maker. Only drawback I could only find is the lack of a longer screw to mount it on to the headshell. Otherwise, it's a great purchase.

These are best needles. They work great for scratching, mixing and listening. Not much else to say. If you just bought your first set of turntables for DJ'ing - these are what you want.

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

I tried many different needles, but these are the winners. great sound, great grip and it needs little weight to keep them steady. if you burn out your stylus, you have too much weight on it! don't go over 2.5 to 3.5 grams. i have used my current needles DAILY for over a year and they still have perfect sound.

I had some stanton 520's, they were cool but once i popped on the 44-7's it was over. Best grip and sound quality, compared to like the scratch needles out there. Definitely invest in these, they are tanks like the Technics.

          I refuse to use anything

          By Skeezle

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

I rock the Rane TTM57SL mixer at gigs where I will play both standard vinyl and digi serato tracks and there is no better needle to use than this right here for overall sound clarity and skip resistance. I can easily put in 100+ hours on one needle alone without noticing any comprimise in sound.

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

Never used any kind of cartridge, got to many reviews and recommendations that I never bought any other. Once bought the sound is great, but since I do a lot of scratching as well you might want to buy two pairs for mixing and scratching.Don't go with any others these work.

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

Aftr running these babies through both mixing and skratching, I have to say that these have got to be the best carts on the market. I really have no idea how the needles don't come flying out of the cart with all the abuse I've put them through since I bought them (about 5 months ago). The headshell mount is very versatile, allowing adjustments that "all-in-one" carts like the Trackmasters and Ortofons don't support. The sound is crisp, yet the bass is beefy and the overall sound is rich and loud. Even if you mix ambient and writhe at the thought of skratching, I would still recommend these needles on the pure merit of their sound quality.

I won't mix on anything else

          By Anonymous

Comments about Shure M44-7 Competition DJ Cartridge:

I've tried Stanton 680s, Trackmasters, and Ortofon Concordes, but nothing works as well as the M44-7. Higher output on average than my Denon CD unit, and only require around 2.5g for optimum grip. Trackmasters can't match the grip even when you turn the counterweight backwards and crank it all the way in. I've used the Shures in a bouncy temporary stage environment where I thought there was no way any cartridge would work, but they worked, and worked well. Take the time to set them up properly (they are not as plug and play as the cartridges with integrated headshells) and always keep extra stylii handy.
