Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

Works Perfect! Good amount of power! Little weight!...(i'm tired of carrying a truckload of stuff!),
Not real expensive.....blows away behringer!
I just got this little Yamaha, and it is absolutely great! Perfect for a small venue (I play in smaller restaurants, churches, & nursing homes). Sounds great, easy to carry, not expensive! I did buy the speaker stand mount (about $20) which you'll need to put it on a stand,,,,and I also use my TC Helicon Create to add some reverb (this little Yamaha is completely dry,,,,so you may want to add something to it like reverb), but I can't think of a better unit to use for this application.
Great Quality! Very Solid!
Super deal!

Near Perfection

By shimmer-N-Qt-

Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

Yes I?m in a dreaded wedding band. We purchased these to replace passive monitors powered by QSC 1400s.With these we saved weigh, set up time and hassle. The performance has been OUTSTANDING. My vocalist who where always wanting more volume are now happy, and without pushing the feedback threshold I?m happy too as bassist & soundman. I only wish they had a balanced XKS thru then they would be a 5.0 across the board for us.

Acappella Delight

By Chief-55UNS

Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

We were extremely pleased with the sound from these small speaker monitors. There are four members in our Acappella Gospel Quartet that will swear by the response each we each recieve on these Yamaha speakers that compliment our Yamaha 500 system. We use the system for small church venues of 300 to 600 hundred and the monitors are provide exceptional sound over the crowd response. You can go wrong with this monitor.

Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

I've had this for several years. I bought it for using as a monitor in a small acoustic trio that I performed with. It worked great. Now I use it in small wine shop solo performances. My son fried my 12" QSC the other night and I had a gig at a somewhat larger venue and my yamaha was my only option. It performed very nicely. The bass response is very good. I'm betting you could use this as a guitar amp and would be very pleased with it. I do vocals and guitar it had a very nice balance to it.
Of all the equipment I've had throughout the years this is one that I've always refused to sell because of the versatility. I would be tempted to not replace my QSC and just buy another one of these for use for small stereo setup.

Powerful Little Box

Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

Lots of sound from a little box, with a low end that you don't expect from an 8" speaker. I'm using it as a rehearsal speaker with my Korg Triton LE keyboard. Most keyboard low ends tend to distort, but this is not the case with this monitor. Rich, warm sound and lots of volume. Very well build.

Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

Wow! Fantastic, clear sound that you would not expect from an 8-inch speaker. It is also impressively surprising how much sound they can put out. I almost spent the extra money to get the 10" model, but I'm glad I didn't. Having this much sound in such a mobile, lightweight package is great.

    Big sound for small size

    By www.theklocks.com

    from San Antonio, Texas

Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

We bought a couple of these for stage fill monitors. We use all Roland virtual instruments, like VDRUMS, VG8, VG88, VBASS, and a host of keys and modules, with in-ear monitors. Great for the sound man, but bad for anyone wanting to sit in and sing a song. The MSR100's handle the full mix in stereo, and fill the stage with sound without affecting the house mix. We have to roll off a little of the low end to keep them from flapping, but there's two-band EQ right on the cabinet that works great.

          • Works great as portable for small venue PA

Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

These are great little speakers for the price. Very nice as monitors and has complete solved the problem with the ability of our church choir to hear music. They are very easy to use and also work great if you need a carry along PA. You can just plug a microphone directly into the speaker and have a portable PA for small venues. It does not carry lows well but that is to be expected, it's not a sub. As a whole these are AWESOME!!!

Good sound for a small box, surprising low end. I own several of these speakers, there great for small monitor, small venue mains. The only issue I have ever had is the line out is very noisy. Easy solution; simply wye the input.

Comments about Yamaha MSR100 8" Powered Speaker:

I am in the process of starting a small sound company. I currently own two Yamaha DXR8 and one DXS12 sub. These speakers are amazing. In trying to keep with my ultra compact system design, I decided to try out the MSR100 for monitor use. Being another Yamaha product, I thought it would be perfect. But, much to my surprise, the volume output is lacking. I tried it out in my basement with my acoustic guitar and a vocal mic. I cranked it up to 3 oclock position on both the master and xlr input. Even with that, and the mixer pretty well cranked, it just wasn't loud enough. I typically run sound for classic rock bands and these wouldn't even come close to being heard over a guitar amp. Overall, if you are a single performer in a coffee shop setting, I would highly recommend them for their light weight and versatility. But for a loud band, look for something with more than 100 watts. I am sadly returning it, and replacing it with an EV ZLX12P. A little bigger / heavier than I wanted, but I know it will cut the mustard.
