The Vox Night Train line of guitar amplifiers consists of three very versatile yet eminently portable amp models, each designed to complement a distinctive cabinet and deliver loads of legendary Vox tone without breaking the bank or your back, all from one of the leading names in guitar amplification for over half a century. This line of boutique-style lunchbox amps runs the gamut as far as rig setups go, from a brawny, 50-watt brute that's more than capable of handling stage or studio duties, to a 15/7.5-watt workhorse that can rattle your soul without rattling the windows, and a 2-watt powerhouse that is perfect for late-night jams, or for recording that classic Vox sound. Vox amps first gained widespread notice for the clean, sparkling tones of the legendary AC30, the amp that powered much of the British Invasion in the mid-sixties on countless hits by the Beatles, the Kinks and the Yardbirds, among others, and has since become a classic, used by everyone from Queen and U2 to REM, Radiohead and the Foo Fighters. All three Night Train amps are designed to deliver the chimey, high-end sparkle that Vox amps are famous for, as well as a more modern, high-gain tone, achieved by bypassing the EQ section via a Bright/Thick mode switch. Each model offers something unique as well, so each amp is a marvel of modern engineering in its own right. For instance, the all-tube NT50H, or Night Train 50, is a muscular, 50-watt, two-channel head loaded with four 12AX7 preamp tubes and two EL34 power tubes for the driving wheel, with the BRIGHT channel offering that classic Vox chime as well as the meatier Thick mode with EQ bypass; and the GIRTH channel employing an extra pre-amp tube for added crunch to your locomotive breath. The Master control section features Master Volume and Tone Cut controls, as well as a TIGHT switch that attenuates the lower frequencies, for added sonic sculpturing. Combine the NT50H with the matching V212NT cabinet, loaded with a pair of Celestion 12 speakers, and you've got a massive-sounding rig that will cover just about any sonic terrain without going off the rails. The Night Train NT15H is an all-tube, 15-watt powerhouse that is switchable to 7.5 watts, so you can get that creamy Vox overdriven tone or those jangly clean tones, whether you're playing a small club, recording at home, or just jamming with friends. The NT15H is loaded with two 12AX7s and two EL34 tubes, like the legendary AC15, and when paired with the matching V112NT cabinet, you've got a highly versatile and incredibly portable mini-stack that flat-out rocks, at any playing level. The 2-watt NT2H Lil' Night Train head packs a lot of power in a little package, with a pair of 12AX7 preamp tubes and a single 12AU7 power tube, for plenty of high-performance Vox tone even at minimal volume. The NT2H is designed with the V110NT cabinet in mind, but also features a headphone/line out jack with a cabinet simulator for direct recording or late-night practice sessions. Each of the amps look as good as they sound, too, with those gleaming tubes glowing through an open diamond-pattern body with mirrored chrome finish, so whatever Vox Night Train you choose, you know you'll reach your sonic destination in style.
