Big, bold sound and increased sustaining power for your alto sax.
The New York series of Alexander reeds are made with high-grade South France cane and a redesigned tip and profile, producing a big and bold sound, full response throughout the registers, and the type of vibrant, solid tone traditionally associated with that of the New York music scene. The tip is somewhat harder than Alexander's Superial DC, giving it exceptional sustaining power, especially in the high end of the alto saxophone's range.
The NY sax reed was born following extensive conversations and correspondence between Tom Alexander and the legendary late, great jazz saxophone genius Michael Brecker some years ago. Without Michael's gracious and invaluable feedback after experimenting with different prototype designs, this saxophone reed simply would not have come into existence.
NY Sax Reeds were also thoroughly field tested by subjecting them to many months of on-the-job playing in the concert and tour performances of several Alexander World Artists who gave it their seal of approval and use it as their primary reed today.

Comments about Alexander Reeds New York Alto Saxophone Reeds:
I am currently recording original jazz/funk/world CD. I utilize 4-5 octaves and try to play as dynamically as possible, so I need a reed that doesn't present an obstacle or inhibit my personal style. The Alexander reeds are the best I've ever used, and very consistent so far. NY cut is not for me, but Superial 2 - 2.5 works perfectly with my custom rubber Beechler.
