A stylish professional tenor with raw bronze brass.
Sax Dakota offers professional-quality saxophones in all of the primary categories.. Saxophonists will appreciate the playing action, cosmetics and most of all the sound of this instrument.
The SDT-XR-92 tenor saxophone is something of a departure for Sax Dakota, most notably in its finish. There isn’t one. It is a wholly unlacquered bronze brass alloy. Between its unadorned body and the finely detailed hand engraving, it presents an alluring vintage appearance, and its acoustic properties tend to enhance that visual impression.
It is a free-blowing instrument, but not so much that it pulls all of the wind out of you. Its acoustic timbre leans neither toward dark nor light, which lends it a certain versatility that could be influenced by a choice in mouthpieces, reeds and ligatures. If your preference is a late 50s, early 60s, Verve and Blue Note classic jazz tenor sound, you can find it here. If you prefer the kind of smart, contemporary tenor playing you hear in pop music or smooth jazz, you can likewise pull it out of the XR-92. Its intonation is rock solid throughout the range of the horn from its fattest, honkiest low B on up through its screaming altissimo.
The SDT-XR-92 tenor saxophone has everything the professional player is looking for: tone, response, the action and ease of play. Hand engraving and raw bronze brass give it a unique appearance, resulting in an instrument that offers professional features and impeccable style at a fair price.
Pro features and vintage styling at a fair price. Consider Dakota.
