Preserves and protects wood with a proprietary blend of plant derived oils, emulsifiers, and powerful antioxidants it penetrates deeply and will not turn rancid. Many bore oils are clear and colorless light mineral oil (baby oil) which is not what instrument makers use to impregnate the wood during manufacture. Maintains the dimensional stability of the wood. Holds and buffers the needed moisture level in the wood which retards the tendency to crack and split.

Comments about The Doctor's Products Bore Doctor 60 ML:

Don't use steel wool; don't use lemon oil. If you want to condition your fretboard, this is the way to go. Doesn't leave a residue, doesn't smell. It did in fact restore the original (darker) color of my rosewood fretboard. Great stuff.

Comments about The Doctor's Products Bore Doctor 60 ML:

Read about this stuff online, was using lemon oil before. Doesn't smell as great as lemon oil but much better for rejuvenating dry fingerboards, especially rosewood. Also makes the rosewood a bit darker as well which is a plus. Just wish they sold it in bigger bottles, but otherwise highly recommend.

Comments about The Doctor's Products Bore Doctor 60 ML:

For the past 15 years, I've used "lemon oil" (furniture grade) to moisturize and condition the wood on my instruments with rosewood or ebony fretboards. Always thought that was the right thing to do until I purchased a used Gibson Les Paul with a very dry board. Before soaking with lemon oil, I did some research online and found Dr. Fret (AKA Bore Doctor) to be the most recommended product. It is not a petroleum product with fake lemon scent. It is formulated to match the natural oils found in wood. Goes on easy with a pleasant scent. It did wonders for my Les Paul, and also my Taylor acoustic.
