OVERVIEW

3 perfectly matched sticks.

Go with the olive tips on these DW drumsticks for a versatile drum and cymbal sound in almost any playing situation. Or try nylon tips for even brighter textures.

With this DW stick set, drummers get a set of 3 sticks instead of two. This means there's an extra pro-quality, perfectly matched drumstick always there. No matter what type of music, 3 drumsticks provide the balance, feel, and performance to get the job done in the studio or on stage. Best of all, each drumstick is rigorously tested in four ways:

Laser-tested for straightness
Weight-matched
Pitch-matched
Balance-matched

After testing, each DW stick is printed with its unique characteristics, right on the stick. This is positive proof that every stick has been properly matched as a set. So why go to such great lengths to ensure quality? Because when you make serious, professional-quality sticks, you want the world to know it. DW measures quality one stick at a time in their factory.

It's the only way DW can ensure that every set of 3 drumsticks is the best it can be. It all starts with the wood. Each stick is born from only the finest hand-selected U.S. hickory, and only wood that meets DW's strict moisture content standards makes the cut. From there, wood dowels are lathed to exacting specifications and undergo a three-step sanding process. Once sanded smooth, they are primed and finished with DW's proprietary satin-lacquer process. The result is a natural feel that most drummers prefer.

3 Drumsticks is born from the desire to create more advanced, drummer-friendly products. It's simply part of the Drum Workshop philosophy; a fresh idea can oftentimes reshape the way we look at something as familiar as a drumstick.

So when DW decided to make drumsticks, it took DW's 35 years of experience as one of the world's leading drum, pedal, and hardware manufacturers and applied it to creating a revolutionary new concept in the marketplace. The result is 3 drumsticks.

Interestingly enough, the initial inspiration for offering sticks as sets rather than traditional pairs was secondary. DW's primary focus was on making the highest-quality all-hickory drumstick available today, and to do so meant DW had to invest resources in some very advanced and proprietary quality-control equipment. DW's years of working with wood told the company that it would have to match sticks by weight and also check them for straightness, but as DW delved deeper, it decided to pitch-match them for consistency, and also do something no other manufacturer had done before--balance-match them. In this way, DW could determine whether the stick would be heavier in the front or back. After all, holding a drumstick and playing drums is all about balance. When it was all said and done, DW had developed a rather precise four-step matching process. After that, DW decided to take it one step further and actually print the results of that process on each stick. This was also rather unconventional, but evidence that DW had done its job.

Once DW had decided to go the extra mile to match each set, the company wondered what would happen with the harder-hitting players that often break sticks. Sure, DW's sticks are made from the highest-grade U.S. hickory, but DW knew that some drummers can really dish out the abuse. So, DW decided to throw in a spare. After all, you wouldn't leave the house without a spare tire on your car, would you?

DW's final challenge was to decide on the feel of the drumstick. Should the company go with a high-gloss lacquer or a completely raw, unfinished stick? Knowing drummers are serious about feel and that their musical creativity is translated from stick to drum-set, DW developed a special priming and lacquering process that completely seals the stick while still achieving an extremely natural feel.

The best part is that DW does it all in its factory in Ensenada, Mexico. DW is in control of design, manufacturing, and quality every step of the way. Add to that exceptional value and a groundbreaking new technology and you have 3 drumsticks. Once you play a set of 3 drumsticks, DW believes you'll agree, three is the new pair.

Comments about 3 Drumsticks Olive Tip:

I'm holding off judgemnt for a little while because i do want to like these sticks, but one did brake in the first set.
they work well, untill one brakes. but ther is another one right there the same size and wieght to grab. for the price i got more.
I did have one brake almost right away but it was no big deal at the time.
It did however brake in the middle of the stick, that was odd.
grate price for three sticks

the worst sticks i have ever used....

Comments about 3 Drumsticks Olive Tip:

I don't recommend these particularly ones with the nylon tip. They were all popped off and therefore I glued to put them back but it didn't last no more than one song.

Nice...

Comments about 3 Drumsticks Olive Tip:

I'm using the 2B Olive Wood Tip model of the 3 Drumsticks. When I found out they were made by DW I was a little skeptical. I decided to try them out and now I love them. With all the problems people are having with the nylon tips coming off, I would suggest maybe not buying this stick in a nylon. I love the 2B because they are like playing with tree branches! I just got done tracking a 10 song album for a band and these held up GREAT! Also recommend the Pro-Mark 5ABs - a lot of similarities.

Comments about 3 Drumsticks Olive Tip:

I got 4 pairs of these sticks with the free cymbal stand and the only problem ive had with them is the tip coming off. I cant get them to stay on, but shoe glue works the best for the tips. im a heavy hitter and i havent broke any thankfully and still have 2 pairs i havent used yet.

Very good sticks

By Vic Dunston

Comments about 3 Drumsticks Olive Tip:

These are very good drumsticks! I am playing the 5B wood olive tip model right now, and I am quite impressed. Although they are not very weighty you definitely know you have something in your hand, and the balance is spot-on. Since I like a stick without a lot of taper, I'm happy with the beefy shoulder on these sticks - it gives me a good solid punch all around the kit, I haven't tried the acorn or ball tip, but the olives do well on the ride cymbal. The only thing I would change is the length. These are 16-1/4, which is fine, but a bit more reach would be nice - maybe 16-3/8 or 16-1/2. They make a 5B XL which is 16-3/4, but that's actually a little too long for me. All in all I am very pleased with these sticks. Getting 3 for the price of 2 is tasty icing on the cake!

Comments about 3 Drumsticks Olive Tip:

These are made by DW. Do you Expect anything less than the best?I've been using VF for 25 years, and I have switched to these. The markings on the sticks are accurate (telling you the Weight, Pitch, Balance)The Nylon Tips seem pretty solid. I see no real Downside to these sticks.

Hope you like wood tips

Comments about 3 Drumsticks Olive Tip:

I purchased two sets of 5Bs with nylon tips and within an hour of playing with all 6, they lost their tips. After even attempting to superglue them back on they managed to come off again. If you even want to bother with these sticks, don't get nylon tips.

Awesome Sticks

By Orion91

from San Francisco, CA

Comments about 3 Drumsticks Olive Tip:

I recently got a 5A pair of these free in a box for a DW 9000 Series boom stand and I gotta say that I absolutely love these sticks! I usually use 5A sticks and I hit pretty hard, breaking a lot of sticks in the process. I haven't needed to use the third stick yet but I know that soon I will and I'll have it right there! Great job, DW!
