I've owned two of these tuners. I only bought a second one because the first one was stolen! I use it onstage where it's usually dark. The tuner has seven bands and when you're in tune the center green one glows extra bright. Very easy to use. By the way, I bought a Behringer BXL900 bass amp for stage, and it turns out it didn't have a line out. So I used this tuner as a tuner and signal splitter, and it worked perfect, without draining the battery! Cool! Buy one or two, and they'll last you a long time. Highly recommended.

I bought this because the price was right and I wanted a stage tuner so I could leave my Boss tuner in the studio. BE WARNED! The Arion tuner is not a Silent tuner. You hear every note as you tune, which lemme tell ya, really wows an audience. Also, it noticably changes the tone of my guitar.I recommend it only for a beginner who doesn't care about their guitar tone, or if someone hears you tuning. However, the tuning is spot on. Which is the only good thing.

Great + reliable Tuner

By Telelover-gCa63

from NC

Bought this tuner used over 12 years ago and it has worked great in gig after gig. Bright lights that can be seen on the darkest stage and a jack that mutes when you tune. Mine looks terrible but works geat! Plastic battery cover won't go on straight, but otherwise this is a winner. I've spilled beer on it and dropped it many times, but it still works great. Hard to beat for the money.

20 years later,,,

By BHM3878

Bought the tuner my senior yr. of H.S. I can't remember the price. Gigged w/ it for several years. All these years later its still going strong. The wires broke away from the 9v connector but an easy fix w/ a solder lron. Onstage the muting output jack has never failed me, no crackels or scratches. Still all original. Worth every penny!

Best for the Money

By cjdisco

from Washington

I have been using this tuner for over 14 years and it has never given me any problems. Though it feels less sturdy that my other metal pedals, it has stood up to being thrown in bags and dropped repeatedly. The batter cover broke years ago, but a pieced of tape fixed that. I use a power supply, so it doesn't matter to me. If this tune came in a chromatic version there would be no better value available.

Best Tuner I've Owned

I have had this tuner for 19 years, and it was used when I bought it! I have gigged it with Dozens of times, spilled beer and soda on it, dropped it etc. It has been the main tuner in every band I have been in since 1988. It still works better than any tuner I've had, including, SORRY, Digitech and Korg! I used it for intonation and setups etc in my shop! It would be a deal at 4x the price! I can't recommend it more.

Arion HU8500 Stage Tuner

By Doc

from Cosby, TN.

Whoever doubts this pedal to tune accurately is mistaken or has dropped it several times or misused and abused it, I have this item & It's been well taken care of, I play in standard tuning, Drop D & It tunes to the T, I love this tuner, I highly recommend 1 to ANYONE playing live on stage or at home practicing, You won't be disappointed, It is highly accurate & Spot on, I didn't spend an arm & A leg on it, This tuner works as well as a BOSS, Line 6, ETC....Only a fraction of the cost, I don't buy junk for guitar playing, I use ESP Guitars, It will tune accurately in Standard, Drop D, A, B, G, Most people who play and tune to drop d and lower buy the thicker gauge strings but don't have their guitar set up for it, The strings need to fit the guitar properly or it won't stay in tune, Therefore your tuning won't be accurate and or will come out of tune every time, The tuner also has the feature where you can tune it where you can hear the guitar or have it silent while tuning, Bottom line, I love this tuner, ARION HU8500 Spot on quick tuning every time!!

Surprised with this pedals durability. I have mine since I bought thru catalog on Musicians friend back in 1994. As of today it still works and goes with me everywhere. Nice lighting on the darkest places and fine tuning. Love the feature of allowing to tune silently, To bad is been discountinued.

Stubbornly does it's job

By Arion user

Lights up pretty well. Simple to use. After a few months it started taking a strong stomp to get it started but I got used to that. Otherwise it has held up nicely and I have been using it for over a year now.

Great product, great value

By Micah-_O2eX

This Arion HU-8500 Stage Tuner was a great pruchase! It's LED lights are easy to spot even on a dim stage and it's durable enough to take on the road without concern of breakage. I've dropped it a few times and it's durable enough to take the beating. This pedal works just as well as a Boss pedal I'd paid three times as much for. A GREAT buy when you compare it dollar-for-dollar with other similar stage tuners!

Yes, it's cheap, but it's slow and inaccurate - not what you really want in a tuner. Ordered it, tried it, shipped it back.

Best stage tuner available.

By smgolden

from Littleton, CO

I've used many tuners in my time, and this beats all of the others hands down. It allows you to simply ease right to the perfect pitch on each string. It's accurate to 1 cent, while many of the BOSS units are only accurate to 3 cents. I've used several BOSS units including the tuner in the GT-3. I've used Korg tuners, hand-held, and rack-mount, and many other tuners. This one compares favorably with each of the others for one reason or another. While many of them were erratic, this tuner is smooth and accurate. Best tune for your buck!

This pedal may be plastic but that does not mean that the electronics contained are cheap.

My guitar teacher has a 100 dollar tuner. After I would use it I would use relative tuning and one or 3 would always be out. I got this because I will soon play a show and I did not want to use her tuner and when I play @ home i need one. I got this for the money. I opened the box and my heart pumped faster! I tuned and it was so easy! I also tuned my bass. Save money, get this!

Review of Arion HU-8500 Stage Tuner...

By The_GuitarGuru

from Westford, MA

See all my reviews

Review: I picked this up as a backup tuner to my regular rack-mounted tuner, and for smaller venues where a lot of gear was a hassle. I was pleasantly suprised by the overall quality of this pedal - it was easy to use, the LED was stable and bright when tuning, it had no effect on the sound passing through, and the stereo output was a nice plus. The price does show with the plastic body, but treat it gently and with care and it should last for quite a while. Overall, a good, consistent, reliable tuner that makes a nice addition to any pedal setup.

Solid Tuner

By jessemccartneysucks65

Yeah, this tuner isn't a nicer rackmount tuner, but mine's been working for over a decade, and not just on the weekends at home, but cross country, too! Mine was my uncle's, and he used it professionally for years, and then he gave it to me. It's still working perfectly fine. I was worried at first since it's plastic, but this thing's built like a tank. It doesn't have the nicer features of a Korg rack tuner, but it's a good stage tuner. I read another review that said it's not silent, and that is not true. It has a bypass and a silent output; the bypass is the one that's not silent. Overall, it's a great tuner. It lacks the features of a rack tuner, but it's a great if you want a floor tuner, which is my preference. This is, after all a stage tuner, not a studio tuner. Bottom line, they're cheap, they're lightweight, and they're built well

Don't Waste Your Money on the Boss!!

By Man o' Scruples-mxFxq

from Illinois

I got this beacuse my guitar teacher suggested I get a tuner pedal for live use and I'd been thinking about getting one. He has had one that he's been using for 15 years (along with an SCH-1 chorus and a pcb-6 pedal board which are awesome)and it was cheap so I got it. Thing works great, it was a little odd at first, but it tunes well enough. Only problem is it doesn't tune to nonstandard pitches, but I only play in standard and drop D so its O.K.. If you need a tuner pedal, buy one, now if only Arion still made the SCH-Z chorus beacuse as much as I love my Korg, the Arion puts it to shame, no wonder my guitar teacher says he's never found anything as good as it!

I have had this pedal for a year and it has held up great, the LEDs are bright enough, but sometimes it doesn't work and you have to disconnect the power, like it freezes or something... great for the price...
