B-Band

A natural, musical, and dynamic solution for electrifying a ukulele.

The B-Band U1.5T sidemount single input preamp with fully chromatic tuner is the tiny guy with huge user rewards. This preamp is the smallest of B-Band sidemount preamps and also includes volume and tone on rotary pots, and a disc battery holder and low battery LED at the faceplate. The preamp is one-piece, drop-in installation format and comes supplied with a remote output jack.

About B-Band
B-Band is original. When outdated piezo crystal technologies have been mutated in countless ways, and extra hardware expanded to make the acoustic instrument to sound "more real", B-Band Ltd has concentrated its efforts in a different direction. B-Band Ltd has developed an unique and innovative transducer material, and manufacturing technology that produces a pickup that more efficiently replicates the natural sound of any instrument.

The material is a permanently charged film with microscopic gas bubbles trapped inside and produces signal in a completely different way than other materials used for pickups. As vibrations are fed to the pickup they pass without multiplying the output signal but with a very wide frequency response and dynamic range resulting in a more natural reproduction of the instrument's sound with none of the dynamic problems that other materials impart. Even when hitting the strings hard the sound will remain clear and free of synthetic tone. When playing softly all the subtle dynamics and nuances of the performance will be heard. Also the pickup has a natural resistance to feedback that enables performances in loud environments.

B-Band transducer systems, in their simplicity, do not color the tone and are so unobtrusive that they do not spoil the natural uniqueness of your instrument.

Comments about B-Band U1.5T Onboard Sidemount Ukulele Preamp with Chromatic Tuner and Undersaddle Pickup:

I upgraded my gigging concert uke, a Kala solid mahogany cutaway that I got with shadow pickups installed. As with every other shadow product I've ever tried, the pickup was low output, tons of feedback at gig volume, pretty terrible, but I was able to make it usable with a good amp.
Well, I got sick of the inconsistencies and always having to ride a notch filter at gigs to keep the shadow from feeding back, and thought I'd try the B-band, and it's awesome upon first use. Loud, clear, easy to use, and you really have to crank it to feed back in my little studio. I'll report back if I have any problems gigging with it, but I can't see what could go wrong... famous last words, I know.
By the way, these do not sound at all like piezo pickups. They definitely color the sound, but with a pleasant microphonic texture. I have been rolling off the highs and getting a nice, warm and crisp sound. I've got plenty to add back in if I need to cut though more in a gig setting, but again, through a nice amp, (I usually use fishman sa200) I don't see this being an extreme adjutment.
