The first day that I got this tuner-metronome, I was really in love with it. The metronome has a lot of different rhythm settings, like triplet with a center rest and upbeats, which I thought was pretty cool. The metronome could be louder though, I can just barely hear when I'm clapping. It also has a pretty fast response when tuning Bb clarinets and other higher ranged instruments. However, on lower ranged instruments like cellos, bari saxes, or bass clarinets, no matter how you position the tuner, it won't get a response. I was surprised and upset at this discovery because it was only the second day when I tried it and it hadn't been dropped or anything, so I asked my tuba friend to test it and it worked just fine for her instrument. We kept trying it over and over with the bass clarinets then the tubas, but for some weird reason, it just wouldn't register the bass clarinets or bari saxes, no matter how loud they played, or how close the tuner was. And it also wouldn't register the cello. Strangely enough, it registers tenor saxes, but just barely. No one else I know owns a Boss tuner so I don't know if this is just something that is wrong with mine, or the overall product, but since my main instrument is clarinet, I have no problem with this tuner. I do wish that the metronome had a volume setting though, so I could make it louder... So bottom line, I recommend this for people who play instruments like mellophone, clarinet, and flute, but for people who play like bari sax and bass clarinet, I recommend looking elsewhere, unless it's just my tuner that's glitchy. In which case, I say have fun buying this tuner because it has cool metronome settings and a fast response. :D

Although I've been using a Korg MA-30 for almost my entire musical life, I got this as a gift 3 days ago.The tuner is decent and useful, but not as accurate as even the cheapest Korg tuners. Still, quite good. The metronome's range is really good, 30-250 bpm. Unfortunately, that's all the goods. It makes a very faint sound, it **cannot** send the signal through the output, you can't adjust the volume, you can't use it with headphones, it doesn't have a tap feature and it will shut off after about 20 minutes.I don't want to be mean, but this such a terrible metronome. Boss got it wrong here, they usually make great products.Unless you play musical whispers...you're gonna need something louder, and more reliable. Pretty much any of Korg's will do...

Comments about Boss TU-80 Guitar Tuner & Metronome:
I was in the studio and needed to tune my acoustic guitar before starting. The Boss TU-80 was just sitting there so I picked it up and started tuning. It was so easy, simple and quick to figure out. After I was done recording I went right to Musicians Friend and purchased one for REALLY CHEAP. Which surprised me, cause I was ready to pay a lot more than I did.

Comments about Boss TU-80 Guitar Tuner & Metronome:
This is a nice little tuner for just using at home to get in tune, but does have a couple things that I'm not thrilled about that surprises me coming from a Boss product. First the tuner tone & metronome are very quiet and can not be adjusted to a louder volume. what you hear is what you get. The other is that it is slow to react. In other words, you hit the string and there is a slight delay before it reads it to show you if it is sharp or flat. And occasionally you can hit your string and it doesn't read it at all. But, overall for what you pay for it, it's a good tuner. Certainly not a great tuner. I've come to expect nothing short of perfection from Boss products through the years, and this tuner falls short a bit. BUT, again for what I paid for it I can't complain too much about it, and it DOES get the job done in the end.

Comments about Boss TU-80 Guitar Tuner & Metronome:
Not usable as a metronome because it's very quiet. The volume cannot be changed and the metronome beat cannot be sent out the output. I only use it for tuning. Very disappointing.

Comments about Boss TU-80 Guitar Tuner & Metronome:
Tuner, excellent, and here's my opinion about the metronome... if you want to develop good rhythm and good beat you need to stop depending on devices like this (which is funny because in order to do so first you need to use them a lot)... but the idea is to have an inner rhythm and time and this metronome can really help you accomplish that goal... "it sounds very low" - then YOU need to make a better effort to keep time, so that would be YOU the one improving in keeping the beat and rhythm correctly. Once you get to understand this concept you will really appreciate how much this thing can help you.
Comments about Boss TU-80 Guitar Tuner & Metronome:
I recently purchase this product and I have never been more disapointed in my life. The metronome is so quiet I could turn it on during church service and no one would hear it. I thought I was buying a quality product because of the Boss name. Was I ever fooled
