OVERVIEW

Cleaner and lubricant for conductive plastic faders and controls.

DeoxIT FaderLube precision lubricant spray is specifically formulated to improve conductivity and lubricate conductive plastic and carbon compound faders, switches, and other similar components. Over time these components lose their original lubrication from wear or repeated cleaning. Dust, dirt, drink spills, and other contamination also degrade electrical components' lubricant. Re-lubrication with DeoxIT FaderLube prevents excess wear and abrasion to plastic surfaces.

FaderLube also is effective on conductive membrane switches and components. Oil, grease, and acids that build up on the membrane surfaces due to repeated finger contact can lead to device malfunction. Applying DeoxIT FaderLube provides a long-lasting barrier against contamination. The oil, grease, and acids are displaced above the DeoxIT FaderLube layer, preventing contact with the plastic membrane.

Other uses of DeoxIT FaderLube include: lubrication and protection of plastic-to-plastic parts (faders), plastic-to-metal parts (faders, linear sliders, dot matrix printers), metal-to-metal parts (sliding and slow rotating metal parts, locks, bearings), carbon-based controls (potentiometers) and membrane switches (mouse pointers, touch keypads).

I've been using D5 spray for decades. The thing I've notice about D5 is that it works great on guitar volume pots for a couple weeks, and then the scratchiness comes back. When it becomes scratchy again, I hit it with D5. The volume pot in my main gigging guitar was to the point where I was planning on replacing it. I read about F5 and thought I'd give it a try. I was skeptical thinking that D5 should be enough. I sprayed the pot with D5, let it dry, then sprayed it with F5. The scratchiness was gone, but there also seemed to be an apparent clarity that wasn't there before. It's been a couple months now and it's still working great. The combination of D5 Cleaner followed by F5 FaderLube will now be standard procedure.

The only negative thing I can say is it is a little tough to position the red plastic tube so it sprays into the pot. It would be handy if the tube had a 45 degree angle at the end.

My 15 year old rp7 multi effects pedal was showing it's age and the contacts for the foot switches no longer functioned. A few squirts of this and about 100 clicks of each switch made them all work like new.

Also worked great to restore a power switch on an old peavey amp.

Everybody should have this in their bag of tricks. If you ever get a scratchy volume control, tone control, fader, EQ control or any other type of rotary or slide pot, Faderlube will clean and lubricate it for maximum functionality.

Restored life to some faders with smoothness/dropout issues in my rack gear, as claimed. Also doubled admirably on some scratchy pots on an old backup guitar.

It worked, sprayed inside the slider chamber of the master volume on two mixers and then worked the slider back and forth. Waited two minutes, repeated, hooked up and both mixers worked. They were not working and cutting out constantly when they did work, or worked at lower volumes than they should. It works.

This fixes scratchy popping knobs and humming static-filled jack connections. A couple doses are needed for the really corroded ones. They should give us a larger can for the price though.

Comments about CAIG DeoxIT FaderLube Lubricant 5 oz.:

Works well for unsealed Pots and Faders. If you have sealed Bourdons Pots the spray cannot get inside. I don't know if it is safe on the paint on Guitars, so be careful when applying it to Guitar Pots. It comes with a small nozzle extension tube for spraying it into the inside of the Pots. To be safe, I place a rag in the control cavity to absorb any spray that does not go into the pot. A little goes a long way so just a short tap on the nozzle is enough. I purchased it for an Ibanez Bass with active controls. The pots were very scratchy and when adjusted created more sound output then the Bass could achieve. After using this Faderlube the Pots are noiseless.

Someone got the bright idea to try the Les Paul 22 mod with Satriani pickups on an old Ibanez. Need this stuff to clean out the solder flux and lubricate the push-pull pots after all the solder work alcohol cleaning. I set it on "L" and blasted the insides of the push-pulls and pots and let them dry out overnight. Functioned FLAWLESSLY the next afternoon. I am a believer
