I haven't heard a better speaker yet

By pascargtr

Comments about Celestion Blue 15W, 12" Vintage Alnico Guitar Speaker:

I've been playing professionally for longer than I'll admit to and have owned so much gear I'm embarrassed. I put a Celestion Blue in an Ampeg fifteen watt tube amp from the 1950's and I can only describe the result as tonal bliss. Brilliant highs and creamy lows and a beautiful break up that will inspire you to play a few more hours than you ever intended to! I was never more impressed by any one change in the tonal path like I have been with the "Blue" Don't delay, get one today.

Comments about Celestion Blue 15W, 12" Vintage Alnico Guitar Speaker:

    I put this speaker in an AC15 reissue(late 90'S)
tube rectified..Mine came with bulldog-Eminenc-which has been a great speaker..This blue has been a great upgrade.. Its complex, rich and warm.
I just recorded some tracks with it..It really
delivered. As far as installation I used the stock speaker cable and had
to open the terminals up some to get them to fit then retighten em up with pliers. One note ,this alinico speaker clears the chassis better than the original ceramic. A huge plus..

Comments about Celestion Blue 15W, 12" Vintage Alnico Guitar Speaker:

This speaker delivers on all the promises - deep low end, rich and complex mids, and shimmery detailed highs that never sound harsh. And it is efficient! The efficiency of this speaker, installed in my 5E3 Tweed Deluxe has given me more usable volume and headroom, making that amp much more giggable than before. The Deluxe has always sounded great with it's much less expensive American-voiced Weber 12a125a speaker (true to the original Jenson P12Q), but did not quite have the oomph to work in a band situation. The Celestion Blue, at a conservative 100db sensitivity rating, has solved that while providing a more "British" midrange complexity and shimmering high end that works great with the 5E3 circuit. I am VERY pleased with this speaker. The price is silly expensive but I wanted the best I could get. So far the Celestion Blue Alnico G12 is living up to the hype.

    Must have for ac 15

    By Greg Ford

Comments about Celestion Blue 15W, 12" Vintage Alnico Guitar Speaker:

If you're a Vox guy ac15 or 30 the Celestion Blue is a must. I was ready to get rid of my ac15 but I decided I would bite the bullit and order the blue and hope for a better tone.

. It was pretty easy to install. You just have to remove the chassis to get at the speaker. I just used the 1/4 in connecter from the wharfedale (a little soldering required) and it was ready to go in about 20 min.

My first impression was: eh it sounds a little better but was it really worth the money? I knew it would take some time to break in so I decided to wait it out and see what happens. It took me about 30hrs of playing time to break it in so don't get worried if it doesn't sound great out of the box. After about a week of playing my amp is pure tone bliss. My amp sings. If you need to break it in fast create a loop of dynamic playing and send it at line level through your amp and let it go for a few hours every day. I played a few gigs after installing the blue and several people commented on how great my guitar sounded. The blue has a one of a kind voice and it makes my ac15 sound exactly like it is suppose so with perfect breakup and great clarity. Sounds amazing with my ts9 and trex moller.

Overall a bit expensive but worth it.
Not cheap but it transformers an ac15/30 (and probably others) from a decent tube amp to an amazing amp.

    Great Tone

Comments about Celestion Blue 15W, 12" Vintage Alnico Guitar Speaker:

I own a pair of these in addition to many other speakers. Celestion Classic Lead, G12L, G12M Greenback, G12H30, and G10M-Greenback. Also Jensen C10R, Wharfedales G12H30s. The Alnico Blue speakers are not as tight as the G12M & H, nor as dark as the G12Ls. They are basically perfect for classic crunch and gritty tones. However, these are not the best in my opinion for playing shred if you like a fast, tight attack.

Just plain beautiful. I bought this speaker for my Handwired AC15 (which formerly and a Greenback in it) and I am just blown away again. The Greenback is a solid speaker, but the Blue just spanks it! I highly recommend this to anyone, ESPECIALLY because these are the Made in UK ones. Cheers.

I almost gave up on getting the clear and balanced clean and overdriven tones I was looking for from my Carol Ann HS-2 amp until I put the Celestion Blue in it. The Carol Ann cabinet came with Celestion Creamback, so I wondered of the Blue would make any difference. Boy did it ever make a difference! This is exactly the tone I had been searching for. I read a lot of very positive reviews on the Celestion Blue, and now I found out they were all true. This speaker really does make a big difference.

Sweet as they all say, chimey and warm with just the right breakup at the right point. I use a pair I bought from Musician's Friend in a Bruno Underground 30, and have tried several other speakers in that amp. None even came close to the Celestion Blue.

I haven't tried the Weber Blue Dogs but the sound of of the Celestion is far more interesting than the black shadow it replaced. Possibly still breaking it in but it sounds fantastic with my Hayseed and even with my princeton. Very musical sound.

Bought an AC15C1 before the Alnico Blue was available as a factory option. The Greenback 12M it came with is a fine speaker, but it sounds different than the Blue. I have several ceramic magnet Celestions in other amps, so I chose to go with the original speaker in the AC15. Everyone agrees it sounds great in that application.

I have this speaker installed in several combos, and in ever one the improvement has been drastic! The only drawbacks are it's limited application(due to wattage capacity), and price. Other than that this is THE best sounding speaker I have found...for my personal tastes that is. The articulation and chime, yet balanced mids and highs that are never harsh like some others. I have found that it has ample low end for my applications of blues, rock, jazz, country and even ran it through some metal paces! It's expensive, but in this case you definitely pay for what you get. Here's the kicker, I will always pick an Eminence over a Celestion any day of the week; with the exception of this speaker!! Generally I am not a fan, especially since they are over priced and now export their production on many models.

I've replaced speakers in 3 of my low power amps with 'blues', and there was a huge improvement in the sound in all of the amps. It has a more 'precise' sound. More highs mids, and lows, without being harsh.

Comments about Celestion Blue 15W, 12" Vintage Alnico Guitar Speaker:

I was looking for a low wattage speaker to compliment the 2watt Fender Greta(an amp I have been in love with for years). I know, it sounds stupid, putting a Celestion Blue with a Greta, ha. But the lowest wattage speaker besides the Blue was the Jensen, and it was only 25 watts(the blue is 15watts).
At first(off the bat) I was irritated with the results, because I had certain expectations. I walked away, and I was sad(cause it was so expensive). But the next day I sit down, and gave it one more chance, and it was like a guitar spirit had came overnight, and adjusted the speaker. I don't know if one day outta the box made a difference, but all I do know is that, on the second try this sucker was sounding EXACTLY how I wanted it to(for MILES). Even with the Greta only having 2 knobs, I was amazed at how the most subtle adjustments made such huge differences in the tone.
I was looking for adjustable breakup(raw bluesy) at even the lowest levels(without an effects pedal), and let me tell you, this speaker is magical. Giving me an extremely unique tone, specific to my needs exactly. Me and this speaker bonded on the second day. I am not sure how I could really use any other speaker at this point.

Comments about Celestion Blue 15W, 12" Vintage Alnico Guitar Speaker:

I'm usually a low end cost speaker man; I "went out on the limb" and got the Alnico Blue. PERFECT for my 1-20 watt class A amp heads. The tight lows, highs pronouned but NOT HARSH, the "wooly" mids. I have no regrets dishing out for this speaker. The only way to get this IDEAL tone is to buy the speaker.
