OVERVIEW

The voice of '80s rock and blues.

The Celestion G12-65 Heritage 65W Guitar Speaker adheres precisely to the initial design notes, specifications, materials and construction techniques used on the origianl. The Heritage Series G12-65 dishes up the cherished guitar tones of the '80s with almost unnerving accuracy.

A forerunner to the G12T-75, the G12-65 speaker was originally created as a higher-power handling version of the G12M Greenback. Recognized as the voice of 1980s rock and blues, the Celestion speaker was particularly popular in 4x12 cabinets and is considered by many to be the finest guitar speaker ever produced for use in this classic configuration.

Like the original G12-65, the Heritage Series re-creation of this legendary Celestion guitar loudspeaker has a tone that's best described as sitting somewhere between the G12M and the Classic Lead 80, with plenty of definition for high-gain playing styles without being too bright or aggressive.

Comments about Celestion Heritage G12-65 65W, 12" Vintage Guitar Speaker:

I have a 1966B cabinet that Ive had for over 25 years. It's original G12-75 speakers finally wore out. I still have them and ill probably get them re-coned, one day but I decided to try a pair new GT 75's first.I didn't like them at all, they were cheaper but not a ton cheaper. The problem is they sounded a ton cheaper. They had a harsh, Braying sound and I know they weren't broken in but I couldn't stand to wait for that.I thought about buying old used ones but you never know what your getting there.I could buy a vintage cabinet but the 1965 and 1966 cabs are a unique, special size (24" x 24") that fit the unusually sized 2204S and 3203 heads , both of which I use daily. I didn't want to buy and strip 2 speakers from a vintage Marshall cab, that would be cruddy.I looked for another 1966 cab but they cost about 300 - 350, plus shipping (when and if you can find them), anyway I wanted MY cab, so I wound up trying a pair of Heritage G12 65's from GC. I LOVE these speakers. Couldn't be happier. They needed quite a while to break in but they sound great out of the box so I didn't mind. Id love to fill a regular 412 cabinet with them. They aren't cheap but I will definitely be picking up at least two more.

Comments about Celestion Heritage G12-65 65W, 12" Vintage Guitar Speaker:

I have an Eric Clapton Tremolux - loaded with the stock Celestion Heritage G12-65 speaker. Assumed being an expensive amp that it would be a great speaker. I built a cabinet and loaded it with a WGS ET65 speaker which sounds great. For grins I plugged in the cabinet to the EC Tremolux. I was amazed at how much better the speaker sounded than the stock G12-65! The G12-65 distorted at even medium volumes, but the ET65 was clean and wonderful. As you know one of the problems with lower wattage amps is the clean headroom, this speaker not only goes a long way to help that out, but also sounds better. Still amazed how much better the WGS speaker sounds then the Celestion. And it's louder which is surprising to me as they are really close to the same spl rating.

Comments about Celestion Heritage G12-65 65W, 12" Vintage Guitar Speaker:

I bought this speaker a little over a year ago now. I can't say enough about it. It sounds amazing. Clear note definition, sounds nice clean or dirty. It is nice and broken in now and it just sounds even better. When I first got it I stuck it in my Fender Blues Deluxe what a difference. It got rid of all that flabbiness. I was just getting ready to do a mod to my Fender Blues deluxe so I stuck it in a Ashdown amp I had for a back up and man did it turn that amp into something worth playing. When I finished my mod and stuck it in the Blues Deluxe, WOW I see why Fender uses it on the EC tremolux. It is perfect for blues. It also handles rock and country very well. It's an all around good speaker. I highly recommend it. Get one you will be so glad you did.

Comments about Celestion Heritage G12-65 65W, 12" Vintage Guitar Speaker:

This is a fantastic driver that I ended up testing on a whim. Traditionally I use a mix of Vintage 30s and G12H-30s. This driver takes the best qualities of those individual drivers and delivers those qualities simultaneously. Note definition is fantastic, as is low end. I just ordered 2 more of these to replace everything else I have. The only thing I've used that compares so far, is a Scumback BH75, though I still prefer the sound of the G12-65s. I'm using these in Swanson cabs, Les Paul Trads with and Seymour SH14s and SH-6s in the bridge with SH-2s in the neck. Amp head is a Mesa Boogie Mark V.
