I bought this case only a few weeks ago. It's a really great case. It's not TOO heavy, the wheels are great, it's plenty long, and has a nice compartment on the side for my pedal (even holds my double pedal, and I throw my tamborine and icebell in there, too) This is not a plywood and metal Anvil ATA case, but it certainly is much heavier and stronger than a regular fiber case. There's only one thing I would give a heads up about. It's a very long case. It won't fit in most cars. My band uses a long van, so this isn't a problem for me, but when I brought it home, it had to fit in the back of my Dodge Caravan sideways, because it wouldn't fit in my van lengthwise. I was also suprised how reasonable the UPS shipping charge was.
Three of these head cases were received by members of my band last Christmas. By summer, all three of us were unhappy with the cases. The visual presentation is awesome--very stylish and very eye-catching, with the diamond plate-look. Unfortunately, though, the clasp mechanisms are more decorative, too, than usable. The other two guys play through tube heads, which are heavier, so I can understand their clasps weakening some--but I play through a solid state head that weighs a little more than a feather...and two of my clasps have broken off. I would recommend this head case to someone who doesn't move his/her equipment often, and plays through solid state heads. I keep hoping we just received a bad batch...three duds. I'm afraid to try again, though.
This case was never ment to be a "hardcore" road case. But I use it and I have had no serious issues with it. I load it and unload it. I roll it in and out of the trailer. I love it. The only thing that it doesn't do is lock. If it did, it would be next to perfect.
This is a great case for medium weight equipment (I do not recommend filling it to the top). It is roomy enough to hold my throne and some extra heads, sticks, etc. The handles are flimsy when it is picked up so use the strap to drag it and put tons of stuff on the lid for rolling it in.
Okay so I have never really had the "big" budget band tour money so we always had to use what we could to get by. I want to spend my money on gear not a road case from Anvil. hey, they are great, but this core case has renewed my faith in cheaper cases. This case was way better than I expected. It is basically a real road case. some of the features are slimmed down but so what, the price is really cheap. There is something about the metal covering - it gets dented easily, but that is aluminum (I think). well, I got two of these and one the band uses as a locking storage in our rehearsal space so our small stuff doesn't walk. I would suggest that these guys at core make the latches recessed, that would be perfect.
Very Heavy Duty Case. The price may seem a little high for someone on A budget but the qualiity of this Case is well worth it. If you on the road a lot I dont suggest it but if you just Want A succure Place to keep your Drum Set Its Worth it. Feel Free To contact me if you have any questions.
