Weather you're a professional looking for better feeling and toneful stings that hold tune, or a beginner that doesn't know where to start, THIS IS IT! The good news is that when it comes to gear, so many things are incredibly subjective and different, well these aren't. These are the best!
I use these strings on all of my guitars, and have now for 6 years. They have incredible stability, tone, and playability. All of my guitars are equipped with Original Floyd Rose tremolos. I am not lying when I say that I can NOT remember the last time I broke a string, or if I even have broke a string since using Dean Markleys. I do remember breaking strings all the time with D'Adarrio strings, and having tuning problems with Ernie Balls, even though I am throughly trained and experienced with setting up and maintaining a Floyd Rose. It's just a simple fact that that these Dean Markley Signature Series, although surprisingly cheaper in cost than most, win in EVERY category when compared to any other string from any other string manufacturer in my experience.
I play everything from David Gilmour and Alex Lifeson, to Trey Azagthoth styles on the guitar, and can NOT remember a string breaking once since switching to Dean Markley Signature Series strings. Bending all day long, tapping, digging into full on chords, and bottoming out the Floyd Rose does not effect the tuning or tone of these strings. I give them a little wipe before and after playing, and they're like new. I change my strings one a month and play in a performing band that does 3 hour sets. Now given that I do use different guitars, one month is a long time for a string to keep tune, feel, tone. These Dean Markleys do every time.
For the price that Musicians Friend offers, c'mon! If I had the money to, I'd buy a boat load of these and throw them in the freezer. Instead, I just buy 10 at a time!

As much as I wanted to love these strings I'm sad to say I won't be buying them again. I do think string choice is largely down to personal preference, and lots of people seem to enjoy these, but to my ear, the tone is just awful. Also had one break MUCH sooner than I would have liked. Oh well.

Comments about Dean Markley 2503 NickelSteel Regular Electric Guitar Strings:

Dean Markley NickelSteel strings have a powerful tone; searing treble and molten crunch. A cutting and punchy tone is the prevailing sound.

If you dislike lots of treble, then these strings may not be for you. But, if you're looking for a distinctive tone and easy to play strings, then you may love these.

The only strings that I've found to be better overall than the NickelSteel's were S.I.T. Power Wound strings. But, those strings don't have the personality that the Dean Markley's have; the S.I.T.'s have a wonderful and more well-rounded tone.

If you wanna rock hard and be heard for a reasonable price, then tryout these Dean Markley Signatue Series NickelSteel strings. They're different from the other top string brands.

Comments about Dean Markley 2503 NickelSteel Regular Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings beat the others hands down, they have a very crisp sound especially on the small e,b and g. If you are tired of same old strings buy some of these. I am sold from now on Dean Markley is the only brand I will put on my axes.

    The Best for Gibsons

Comments about Dean Markley 2503 NickelSteel Regular Electric Guitar Strings:

I've used nearly every string there is, and I settled on Markleys about 10 years ago. Don't go for that "a string is a string" nonsense. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other string for Gibsons, especially Les Pauls, SGs, and Firebirds. They have a sweet but sinister ring about them, even after they aren't brand new. Sometimes they sound even better after the new wears off. Wipe 'em down and they'll last if you can't afford to change stings often. Even though I like Ernie Ball Slinkys on a Strat type guitar, the Markleys sound good on the brighter single coil stuff too. There may be less expensive strings, but just like everything else, you get what you pay for. It's hard to go wrong with the DM NickleSteels.

I've used all brands of strings in the past 32 years and these are always my most trusted strings. No matter if I'm playing metal, classic rock, southern rock or even light rock these babies sound great and feel good as well. You can't go wrong with them.

I've used all the big name string brands out there in my search, and I always go back to Dean Markley NickelSteel strings. Not the blue box Dean Markleys, just these NickelSteel's. Whether you use 9 or 10 gauge, these seem to last the longest in terms of keeping a crisp tone and good resonance, and not breaking easily, which is important if you bend a lot or use a vibrato bar. These are now the only brand I use.

I've tried so many brands of strings - from the bargain basement to Elixir electrics, and I had settles on Ernie Ball slinkys.Until one day when I was going to a gig and realized I didn't have a backup set of EB's with me. I went to the local grocery store and grabbed the only set of .10s they had - Dean Markley nickelsteel...That was five years ago. The rest is history. Now I just need to figure out what to do with those leftover EBs. lol.

Last a long time. I've had mine on my Schecter for a month, playing about 24 hours a week. I replace usually because they start turning black. A nice crunchy sound that metal heads will like.

I've been using Dean Markley 2503's for almost 10 years and I have no problems, no breakage (unless it was done on purpose!) and no bickering about these strings. They crunch, shred and sweep and I can pull that wang bar and they give back every bit of brutality I give them. If Yngwie and Joe Stump use Dean Markley's, then I can, too! Thanks Dean Markley guys!

These are the second best set of electric guitar strings that I've ever used (The first being Dr. Ducks Jazz Strings). They have a better sound than D'adarrio's, I think. So if you like D'adarrio's you will absolutely love these things!

I just put these on my guitar, and they are crap. They sound ok, just like ANY other string, but they are way to rough, and not for speed, and stiff, and I played it for about 2 hours and broke a string already. I'd say go for the slinkys, they are quality strings.

I have played guitar for ten years and have always experimented with different guitars, pickups, amps, cables, picks and strings. I have used Fender, GHS, SIT, Ernie Ball, Gibson, D'Addario and many more but have stayed with Dean Markley the longest. I also use Dean Markley strings for my bass guitars and acoustics. My favorite are the signature strings 9-46 on my strats and 10-46 on my les pauls.

I used to use these strings when I was in my 20's, but let me tell you, they are as about as average as can be. Pick slides sound alright, but they break and go out of tune pretty fast. I switched to GHS Boomers and that fixed that problem. Very basic. I liked the sticker in each pack though!
