Comments about Dean Markley 2694 SR2000 5-String Bass Strings:
I used these on my Fender American Standard Jazz bass and have used these for years now. I've tried everything else there is and these give me such killer tone punch and sustain that for me there isn't another string that comes close for a Fender Standard Jazz. Someone bought me a set of the much touted Infeld IN345s for Christmas. I put them on just to compare and immediatley noticed a huge difference. Compared to the Markleys there was such a loss of tone and punch that at rehearsal I had to look to make sure I didn't accidentally turn my amp way down. That should tell you something about the Markleys right there. On brake I took the Infelds off right then and there. Markleys back on...killer sound back! I'm glad the Infelds were a gift as all I wasted was time. I'll stick with the Markleys period.Hands down the best strings for the standard jazz bass and one of the best kept secrets in strings. Crazy punch sustain and tone. The Markleys last a long time with care and they will be heard in the mix. The set I took off to put on the Infelds were 4 months old and still had plenty of life left.A great set of strings!
Comments about Dean Markley 2694 SR2000 5-String Bass Strings:
Will never use any other strings than these, although i've been wanting to try the blue steel. these strings have great tone, brights are terrific and low tones are deep. also the sustain is so unreal. thanks again musicians friend, you have my vote!!
Been needing a new set up strings for my 5 string washburn for a while now. got these in about a week ago and they are by far the best strings i've ever played.
These strings have great quality so far. they have all the bright you will ever need and a low tone that is ungodly for rock or metal musicians.
These are a steal from musicians friend. I checked several local guitar shops around and they all were the same price. i was so amazed at price for such great quality.
Comments about Dean Markley 2694 SR2000 5-String Bass Strings:
I usually use DR strings. One set of those will last at least 6 months, usually more, but these worthless excuses for strings didn't last the month, and their sound was mediocre at best. For those challenged by math, that's 1/6 the lifetime for the same price.Do yourself a favour and by a set of real strings
Comments about Dean Markley 2694 SR2000 5-String Bass Strings:
these are great sounding strings, but they're not for every style of music. i mainly play heavy metal (mostly korn), and i require very deep and clear low end with bright high end. these strings are a little more midrangey, and slaps are great!!! the styles of music these string work best for is classic rock, jazz, 70's R&B, blues, funk, 90's alternative rock, and country. these are great strings, but they are not what i'm looking for. i'll give a good rating tho.
Comments about Dean Markley 2694 SR2000 5-String Bass Strings:
I tried to put them on my bass, but I came across a problem. I have a mono-rail bridge on my bass, so there is very little space between where the strings end in the bridge and where the strings are played on. This is a problem because the tapering is too long. The tapered part sticks out about a half an inch past the bridge, so the action got all gacked up. I'm sure that the strings sound great, but I prefer strings that don't mess up my action and taper off too soon.
Comments about Dean Markley 2694 SR2000 5-String Bass Strings:
I was one of those bass players that never changed their strings until one broke...that's because I used to buy crappy strings. I got a set of these and my Stingray 5 screams tone. I'm hooked, and have to keep an extra set of these handy from now on.
Comments about Dean Markley 2694 SR2000 5-String Bass Strings:
Like most of you, I've played most strings on the planet! My favorite's to date have always been Rotosound, however they do not make a good 5 string set. I tried these Dean Markley's and they sound really great. And they last a long time. Smoke and heat don't bother the longevity of these strings. Better than Elixers, trust me. Waaaay better than DR's...those are junk! Very workable tone with these strings to. Punchy, bright, deep, cutting, whatever you want, these will perform. For the price, they are unbeatable. Oh, and by the way, DON"T buy these...I don't want anyone else to steal my awesome sound! =)
