Yes this strings does rock but its not the pick up to amp tone we are used to hearing. The strings eventually drop its tightness and turn out like strings boiled in hot water for revival of life. The EB's went better with the pick ups YJM intended which he now swapped over to a different company. This strings can bend but lacks the shread over the neck with no composure in the sound. This is good to record when fresh, but for long practices and live gigs it'll drop like a worn out jeans. the balance over the pick ups can't just stay put like the EBs YJM used for many years. I'm not into this set of strings. I'll stay with my favorite strings, please.
here is a tip that worked for me. you have to understand that these are very very sensitive strings. that's what makes them great. but if you have too much tension on your neck they will fret out easily. especially G, B, and E. i've found that if i loosen my truss rod just slightly with these strings that they sing beautifully and are still very fast. they are not made for a high tension neck. they need relief. get this perfected and you will never use anything else.
Finally, a matched set of quality strings in the gauges preferred by Yngwie J. Malmsteen and Joe Stump! After trying different gauge sets on my scalloped fretboards, I can feel/hear why both Yngwie and Joe use them on their guitars.
I had just got these strings yesterday and they are very good in my opinion. They are very light on the light 3 strings and good and heavy on the bottom end. They are not too light or not too heavt though. Very nice.
This strings have an awesome tone to them. I was using Ernie Ball strings and something about the initial sound just didn't sit with me...it's like I had to play them for a while to get them to sound "warm". These Dean Markleys on the other hand sound awesome right out of the package. I play a lot of Hendrix type blues stuff and these really help get that tone...
These strings rock!!! I put them on my strat and they have no wear marks on them after a month of non-stop playing. Insanely comfortable and really easy on the fingers. They feel like they should be tuned way up because of the feeling in the string tension, but tuned to standard E, bending is a dream. The reason I gave it a 4.5 on value is I'm cheap and really don't wanna pay four bucks for one set of strings.
