Glad I decided to do this, wish I'd done it a long time ago.
Just installed this last week, very easy to do, took more time to resrting the guitar than the pickguard. You could not ask for a more complete upgrade, new pickups, pickguard, pots, and, 5 way switch. The price seems a little high until you add everything up and, then if you had somebody do it for you it becomes a pretty good deal.
Now for the good stuff- I never heard sounds from the old pickups like this and, this is an american strat supposedly with the good stuff. Well let me say WOW!!!!!!!!! this Strat can peel the paint off the walls or can be just as mellow as you want. The pickups really respond to your picking style and, the harmonics are super. I play anything from hard rock, country, blues and, just about anything in between.
The combination of these pickups 58,67,61 are a real good match and, adds much versatality the overall sound. I hardly ever used the middle pickup before but I can see a difference now for a new era of music.
I also forgot to mention the main reason that I was changing pickups anyway and, any of you single coil players know what I'm leading to- hum and buzz- none with this setup and, that's just super not to have to deal with anymore. I highly reccommend this setup if you are looking for a Great upgrade that is easy to do and, can definately be done by yourself with the results that will make you say, Thank You Dimarzio!
Very well made in one neat package.
Like I said before add everything up and, then have somebody do this for you and, you realize that this is pretty good deal.

I bought this to improve the sound of a Made In Mexico strat that I've had for years. I listened to many you tube clips and read many reviews in my quest for and easy sound upgrade, and I thought this pickguard would be a great balance of improved sound, good value, and quick project. Unfortunately I had to shave out both the neck and bridge pockets to make it fit on my strat, and only 2 of the screw holes actually lined up to fasten it down. I spent a long time debating whether or not to return it as I felt I shouldn't have to do such modifications to a $300+ "drop in" system. Ultimately, I decided to modify and redrill some new screw holes. Strat sounds awesome, but it was a huge disapointment that it wasn't the plug and play product it was touted to be.

Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
Great Strat tone without the noise! In my opinion, these blow away the stock strat pups.I put this in my 1996 american standard, some of the screw holes didn't line up,but no big deal.I tried seymour duncans, lace sensors, and emg pickups through the years.I always end up going back to Dimarzios. You will get all your favorite strat tones,Gilmour to SRV.The area 61(bridge position)won't do heavy metal, but classic rock it will handle.I will stick with Dimarzio pups for now on. Been playing pro off and on,and working on guitars for 29 years(since age 13).

Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
Although not a traditional strat guy, I love strats and own 5 of them currently. I have never been too crazy about most of the bridge pickups that come on strats (american MIM deluxe etc) I kinda prefer a fatter warmer sound (weak PAF). In fact 3 of my strats have HB in the bridge (Dimarzio 36th Anniversary, David Allen A2, and Tone Zone) I have gone thru a variety of pickups in my 25 plus years of playing and piecing together partocasters.
The AREA set is bye far the best combination I have ever heard. The controls are extremely usable - volume roll off retains top end and clarity, bridge pu wired to the tone knob allows you to roll off treble on higher gain setting for nice warm crunch. The tone knobs are usable thru about 75% of their range. If you have always played with everything on 10... that will change as you explore the versatility. I also feel the middle pu (67) is probably one of the best mid pus I have ever used when by itself. There are times when I think i would like the bridge pu (61) to have a little more gain but I think it would compromise the quack tone when in position 4 (although I refer to it as position 2) You can coax more grit with overdrives and have a convincing brown sound rhythm if needed. The set easily covers jazz, country, classic rock, pop, indie, modern rock and stops short of metal. I rate the neck a 9/10, middle 9.5/10, and the bridge a 9/10. The prewired is a great value as well.. I am done looking when it comes to strat pickups... oh yeah and absolutely no buzz.

Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
I used this set-up on my "frankenstien" 12 string. P-bass body with a Fender villager 12 string neck. This combination required some modifications to the bass body (duh!) but I cannot believe the sound quality difference. Really superior depth and clarity. These are not sold as 12 string parts, but if you have a project guitar that sounds thin or "light" these monsters will make it roar!

Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
my main reason for the purchase was because the stock n3's with the s1 switching were defective. After researching on the web I was impressed with the tone of the area pups. They are quiet, to a point, and we guitarists know that when we want that wet distortion singing lead tone, you will get some noise, but very controllable. The bell like tones are all there, very nice nice work with the soldering. The connecting wires did seem small ( gauge wise), but hey, I dig my upgrade.
Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
I installed this pre-wired pickguard in my 62 re-issue strat. It's everything it says it is. nice sound and no hum. easy to install. excellent wiring. It cost a few bucks but well worth it.
Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
Overall, this is a very nice pickup set. I have purchased several dimarzio pickups in the past both humbuckers and single coils. What sold me on the area pickups was when I bought an area '61 for my middle pickup in my Ibanez S5470. It sounded EXCELLENT in that guitar and it was completely noiseless - moreso than the two other humbuckers in that guitar. So, I got this area preloaded pickguard for my favorite SRV signature series stratocaster and I could not be more pleased. It sounds 10 times better than it did with the stock Texas Specials. And, the Texas Specials were indeed noisy. I think I have the perfect strat tone as far as I am concerned and I don't care what the neighbors say - lol. This pickup trio also makes this a perfect guitar for recording. I mean, you get nothing but pure tone signal with no noise whatseover. Amazing! I think I am going to get another set for my other maple neck stratocaster.
Set of 3 strat single coil pickups - totally noiseless and beautiful sound.
A single coil pickup with no hum and classic fender tones gets a 10 from me.
I think the price is about right for what you are getting which is three pickups, a pickguard, all the pots, pickup selector switch, and a heck of a nice job with the wiring. In addition, it's solderless so it's a good value considering what you would pay if you walked into a music store and said, I need this, this, and this with all new components and I want it wired up and ready to go in 10 minutes!
Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
I was VERY skeptical about these pickups before I installed them. I have a "newer" American Standard Strat (2002) I've played for ten years with stock pick-ups that I've never been completely happy with. I was a sucker for waiting so long...THESE DIMARZIO PICKUPS SING! Clean, bright bell tones, responsive to how much you 'dig in', diverse tone quality for each of the 5 pickup switch settings, great hi-gain/crunch tone, easy installation. If you're even thinking about getting these, just do it.
Not being a gear-head I was a little intimidated with installation. No worries...the online video was fantastic. The whole process took about 10 minutes. Solderless. Very plug-and-play. I'll never pick up a soldering iron again!
No complaints. Very clean. Of particular note is the quality way these things sound...wow! Phenomenal! Clear, crisp, responsive, diverse. Also, the pickguard fit my American Standard Strat' perfectly. All connections looked solid (no frays, no solder balls, etc.).
$280 might be a lot for some, but the ease of installation and way my strat sounds now is well worth it. For me, the value is great.
Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
I purchased this pickguard assembly for a Strat build to replace (retire) my "64 Strat. After much research I chose this assembly to attempt to capture as much vintage vibe as possible and to bypass the 60 cycle hum inherent to most single coils. This pickup assembly delivers that completely. While all Strat pickups need adjusting to capture the sweet spot, this assembly does everything the manufacturer claims. The Alnico 2 magnets also provide the opportunity to adjust the pole pieces closer to the string without "strat-itis". I'm very pleased.
Provides classic Strat tones with little to no hum (based on amp settings). Adjusting pickups yields great results. Installation is a breeze.
Pots and switches are first rate. No corners cut. Solid build. Excellent solder work on assembly. Solderless connection was foolproof.
Excellent value when compared to other solderless builders. I could easily buy a different setup (such as the Gilmour) for about the price of other "boutique" offerings. While I'm not knocking the other excellent manufacturers out there, this DiMarzio unit is a great product at a great price.
Comments about DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard:
When ordering a prewired pickguard, be absolutely sure of its dimensions. I have an ancient Lotus with a smooth-as-butter neck (hey, it happens). I've retro-fitted with staggered tuners to get rid of the string tree on the head and have mad some other minor modifications. It has served me well (they totally duplicated the Fender wiring for the single-coils), but it was time for an upgrade. The problem is, the Area Model Prewired Pickguard doesn't fit the Lotus' wide open body cavity. I'm either going to have to do some routing, or I may change plans and drop the DiMarzio into a mid-market Fender I picked up cheap at an estate sale.
Bottom line: I think this DiMarzio will do what I want, but if you're looking at it, be absolutely sure of those cavity dimensions so you know it will drop into your guitar body.
Seems to have what I'm looking for, based on customer reviews on Musicians Friend and some social websites.
Seems well built. Wiring and framework are neat in appearance and clean
