Round out your bass tone with this pickup set.

The DiMarzio DP123 Replacement Neck & Bridge Pickup Set for Fender J-Bass keeps the crunchy, focused sound of the traditional Fender Jazz Bass tone while boosting gain and response. This additional presence means a bigger sound with improved attack and bite - great for highly articulated playing! The sensitivity and deep tone of these DiMarzio pickups are also the perfect complement to the warm character of fretless basses. Double-stop glissandos and delicate violin-style vibrato speak with a classic, woody voice simply by backing off slightly on the tone controls.

Unlike traditional pickups, these DiMarzio DP123 pickups are individually humbucking. They're not a stack: each coil picks up one pair of strings. By doing it this way they keep the resistance down and the tone clean and clear.

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

Installed these on a MIM Fender jazz bass. They look great and sound great! The best way to describe the improvement over the stock pickups, is that they are simply "smoother" and more "musical" sounding. They are a little hotter, but not obnoxiously so. 100% happy with them, and MF did a good job as always getting them to me quickly and for a good price.

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

Have been playing music for years now, been through many instruments, and I can finally say that it doesn't take a ton of money to buy the sound you've been looking for. I recently set these up on my Squier modified 70's jazz bass(which sounded decent to begin with). The tone is great(woody sounding, with clarity(even on high notes), harmonics really cut through the mix. I have it configured using the alternative wiring using 2 a500k alpha push pull volume, and 1 standard mini alpha a500k tone pot.I highly recommend that you use the audio 500k pots, to bring out the full potential of these pickups, but even using 250k pots will make it sound good. Best sound in my opinion is in series(louder, more punchy) wiring, I haven't used the parallel switch much on the bass, just have it there for extra options. If you arent very good with soldering, i'd get all standrad pots.

        Great Pickups

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

The pick-ups are well made and have several wiring options. They are well suited for a fretless bass with flats. Plenty of growl and sustain. The individual height adjustment for each pickup allows you to have the best distance from each string to the top of the pickup. Overall a great replacement for a J-Bass.

Kick the Hum without breaking the Bank.

        By Tommy

        from Ohio

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

Years ago I removed the active circuit from my bass and wired it up with two volume, two tone, and a series/parallel switch. The control over the tone with this circuit is amazing and the switch still tricks people into thinking its active. Flip the switch and theres a marked increase in bottom end and output. At a show recently I noticed an excessive amount of hum on songs when I turned the neck pup down a bit (this destroys the hum canceling nature of the circuit). So, I decided it was time to find a set of Humbuckers. And I have to admit I am glad i found these.
I play flats with the neck pup dialed back a bit and the highs rolled off on the bridge about halfway. I get the warmest low mids without being "woofy" in the bottom. It cuts through the mix without being glassy on the high end or boomy in the lows. These pickups compliment my sounds and style wonderfully.
There are dozens of wiring oprions with a set of 4-wire humbuckers.
These pickups are well made. When I pulled the stock fender pickups out of my Marcus Miller Signature, the quality of the DiMarzios was apparent. The stock pickups were light and cheap feeling and the covers were easily removed exposing the windings. The DiMarzios were heavy and solid with plenty of wire length and the covers were fitted on snuggly.
I have to admit, I bought these because they were the cheapest replacement humbuckers I could find. But despite the price, they are extremely well made and sound absolutely fantastic. I am more pleased with the tone of my bass now than I ever have been. The improvement in my tone is worth more than the hundred bucks I dropped on the set.

        Quiet Pickups

        By Echoman-AAYcL

        from Undisclosed

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

Make sure to check your bass. If you have an MIM Fender from the mid 1990's(like me), you will need to purchase each pickup seperately and buy the short versions. Some of the MIM's require the pickups to be the same size unlike USA and current MIM models. I put these in because my stock pickups had too much 60 cycle hum, especially when I use my compressor. The Dimarzio's are super quiet and solved my problem. They are just a bit louder than the stock but not necessarly better sounding. They lack a little bite that the stock had, but I'll take the hum canceling over that anyday. I'm happy with them.

        Wow!

        By Len O.

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

I just installed these in my 1963 J Bass. When I first turned up the neck pickup and plucked the e string (still on the work bench) this volumptuous sound eminated from my amp. The amp was set to my normal settings but I had to turn it down so I wouldn't wake the neighbors. Also the bridge pickup is bright and crunchy. I've de-fretted my bass and the DiMarzio blurb that states that they sound especially good for fretless is right on. You get the added punch but still retain the classic Jazz Bass sound.Another caveat; hold on to the old pickup screws. The new screws were way too long for my bass so I simply re-installed the original screws. Also, Musician's Friend had the best price and I received the package is a couple of days.

        Good noiseless replacement

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

Replaced stock pups in my Fender MIM Jazz bass with this Model J set. Satisfied with the tone and the increase in output (and the price). Retains a healthy amount of j-growl, though true single-coils still keep an edge on growling. Two caveats to anyone putting these in a medium-to-low priced bass: (1) If the neck pup is not aligned well with your strings, the A or D string may suffer from weak output since they will vibrate too close to the edge of its coil. I notice this a bit if I use a plectrum aggressively on the A string. (2) I needed a tiny amount of extra routing to fit the bridge pup. Besides that, I'm very pleased with the Model J.

        I LOVE these pickups

        By ROBERT-jzRki

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

I bought a set of these for my Japanese-made Fender Jazz and I have never found a better sound. I read a review in Bassplayer magazine saying these pickups were the best sounding when recorded via DI, but I love them live too! I wish I could put these in all my basses! I beat these up for about 6 years now, and I love them just as much as when I first got 'em.

        great pickups

        By doktorfeelgood

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

I just installed a set of these DP123's in my new Highway 1 Jazz bass. I can't say enough good things about these pickups. Very easy to install. Very punchy with excellent tone thoughout the range; low end, midrange, and high end with absolutely no hum. That's a huge factor for me with Jazz bass pickups. The adjustable pole pieces are terrific for tweaking the gain level of each string. I have a set of the Model P's in my P-bass and I am going to put another set of the Jazz bass pickups in another Jazz bass that I'm building. I think that DiMarzio makes the best bass pickups on the market. )-(

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

Great pickups, great price! Really brought out the sound of my 60's Fender jazz. I highly recommend these pickups for any bass. I'm sure you can get alot more out of these if you pair these pickups with an active pre. Thanks DiMarzio
