Lows are deeper, highs are more percussive, and the mid-range is round but not muddy.

The DiMarzio DP148 Ultra Jazz Bridge Pickup is hum-cancelling and takes a traditional Fender Jazz Bass sound and really opens it up. Lows are deeper, highs are more percussive, and the mid-range is round but not muddy. Harmonic overtones jump off the strings. It's also quick; with instant response to either fingers or pick-style playing. There's only one word for this combination of qualities: "musical."

Choose the perfectly matched Ultra Jazz pair (our sku# 300296), or try an Ultra Jazz bridge pickup with a Split P (our sku# 302265) in the middle position.

Comments about DiMarzio DP148 Ultra Jazz Bridge Pickup:

Replaced the stock Jazz pickup in my Squier SS Jaguar bass. Wow, what a difference! The buzzing is gone and tone much rounder. Low notes no longer bottom out. Def worth it to make this cheapie bass sound great.

This was my first time soldering and it went off without a hitch. This pickup fit perfectly in the old spot. Only confusing bit was what to do with white and black, but trust the directions and solder them together and tape.

Comments about DiMarzio DP148 Ultra Jazz Bridge Pickup:

This is a very good sounding pickup. Has a great bright, funky tone but has Plenty of bass too. Well worth replacing a cheap pickup with this DiMarzio. I put it in a Telecaster bass that has a Fender humbucker in the neck. Like all the rest of the reviews say it still isn't as loud as the humbucker but it is louder than the stock pickup and sounds way better. I would certainly recommend buying this pickup if you are thinking about replacing a cheaper one. You will definitely be pleased with the sound!

Excellent and loud sounding pickup, perfect match for Dimarzio P bass pick-up. But will not blend well with P bass pickup, so just use with an either / or mentallity.

Comments about DiMarzio DP148 Ultra Jazz Bridge Pickup:

Followed the Dimarzio suggestions of matching this with a Split-P in a modded-Fender FSR Jazz following the wiring diagrams on the Dimarzio website exactly. This resulted in the classic P/J imbalance where the bottom-mid drops out of your tone when both pup volumes are at max. Tried varous combos regarding phase and coil polarity on and within both pups including a series/parallel P/P option at one point on one of the volumes-Still no Good. Split-P is lowered to the guard and the Jazz is against the strings-still way imbalanced. Great pup on its own or in a Jazz set-but could not get it to play well with Split-P YMMV.

Comments about DiMarzio DP148 Ultra Jazz Bridge Pickup:

I bought this pickup to replace the stock pickup on a Fender Squier Modified Vintage Jazz bass. Huge difference! The sound is articulate yet smooth. No hum very simple to install. I installed the Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickup previously before getting this one, but if I have to do it again, I would go for a wired set of Dimarzio neck and bridge pickups with the Jazz plate.

Best replacement for that single coil Jazz Bass bridge pickup

                  By Lincoln-ZvbRF

                  from Wisconsin

Comments about DiMarzio DP148 Ultra Jazz Bridge Pickup:

If you have problems with those single coil Jazz Bass pickups making noise (and who doesn't?), then this is the best passive replacement on the market. I used only the front P-style pickup for over a year because the back one made so much noise. I thought it sounded fairly good. But after installing this one, I realized what I was missing (TONAL QUALITY). Now I know that the front one has a lot of midrange mush! Bet you can guess which brand name I'm going to replace the front one with! Can't wait for that Split-P.
Fit right into the original socket. It can be wired in different ways depending on tonal preference.
This pickup is so clean that I decided to replace the neck pickup because the old one detracted from the quality of the new bridge pickup.
I can't complain about the price here. What a change for so little money!
