Extreme power made extremely flexible.
The DiMarzio DP222 D Activator-X bridge position humbucker features the same striking look as DiMarzio's X2N pickup. DiMarzio has adjusted the output and tuned the coils to different frequencies to create a powerful sound. The D Activator X is wide open and surprisingly clean pickup when the volume control is rolled down, even with extreme metal and high-gain amps.
Recommended For: Bridge position only.
Tech Talk: The DP222 D Activator-X bridge electric guitar pickup uses the same bar pole pieces and magnet structure as the DiMarzio X2N, but it's a very different pickup in other ways. Output voltage is slightly lower than the X2N, and the tuning of the two coils allows the high frequencies to open up while still maintaining very strong lows and mids. The DiMarzio D Activator-X pickup is also very good for clean, bright sounds in split and parallel modes.

I have been playing music for quite some time and I mainly focus towards metal...this pickup is by far right up there with the Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker and isn't so pricey. I have this pickup in 4-5 of my instruments and couldn't be happier with the way it sounds. Great low end and great high ends for sustain and harmonics.

A world class pickup and sounds perfect in my M200SR. I'm actually going to buy another for the bridge spot on a custom i'm building.
So many wiring options! I wish I had a few DPDT's lying around!
They sound PERFECT, not a huge 'punch' per say, more like a clamp attatched to a really fast drill, exactly what I like to hear out of a pickup.
only reason I rated it 9 is because the white verson, which I bought is mysteriously more. Best deal out there!

Universal Spacing, Plenty of wiring options for all the different sounds you could want. Pretty straightfoward when it comes to what it does...
The only con here would be the mounting springs provided with the pickup, they were way too long for the screws they were paired with and made installation much more painful than it should have been, I used another set and they worked fine.
Only time will tell, but they're made in the USA, that's a plus. The sound is hard to explain, but i own a few other guitars, one with a set of Passive EMG's and the other with Seymore Duncan Blackouts, and compared to those two, these pickups seem to be a bit muddier, even with alot of tone.... which is actually perfect for the sound i wanted to achieve, they have higher mids than anything else, so expect some body when playing through these.
For the price, I couldn't have done any better, they cost less than the competitors, and they sound nice to boot.

I dropped one of these babies in my B.C Rich Draco and WOW!!!! i've had it for a few months, but so i cant vouch for reliability, but c'mon, its a friggin pickup! if you wire it up right, then it should never fail. MAKE SURE you follow the directions EXACTLY when you wire this up. I have a set of D Activator's in another ax and didnt have all the wiring i THOUGHT i would need in the stock setup, but it was done just right. In my B.C Rich, i had the same amount of wires, same colors, and thought it should be wired as such...WRONG!!! wired it up for single coil! lol, just do what it says, and you'll never need another pup when you hear this baby!!!!

I own a Squier Showmaster 2002 (HSH configuration), a BOSS Metal Zone and a Traynor YCV80. I replaced my default bridge HB with the D-Activator-X (DP222) and the improvement is awesome!Pros:-low noise (a lot lower than my previous bridge HB)-clear sound-sounds really agressive with distortion (I'm down tuned to B)-muted notes sounds a lot better than with my previous pickupCons:-could look a bit better but still not that badThis is exactly what I was looking for. No need to go for an active pickup, this thing does the job greatly!

This pickup is very clean and smooth. My favorite part about this pickup is that it lets your amp push the high's from your guitar - unlike your typical pickup that tend to sound brittle on the treble side IMO. I replaced my Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Plus in my Fender Strat with the DiMarzio. I love the tones from this guitar even more. This is a very high output pickup that is super clean and great for heavy distortion and cleans. Sounds very good in full and split modes. I play in a cover band so I need it to be versatile. It took forever to get it, but worth the wait, order one!

I love this pickup. I recently got this pickup. I put it into a Jackson Warrior WRXT and it has such a great sound. The sustain and pure rawness of this pickup is amazing. If you play metal this pickup is for you.

Well....what can i say, it is VERY high output, just a little less than the X2N, and with that comes extreme gain, and dirtiness, on distortion or with a pedal, you'll feel like you will need to take a shower it's ssooooo dirty, however, ever taken a shower while playing guitar? well turn the volume down, and now you have the perfect CLEAN pickup,so if you like the X2N, you'll LOVE this...

I had a friend come over last Sunday with his Ibanez RG Prestige with the stock DiMarzio/Ibanez pups. I thought his axe sounded "Dead" compared to my little Gio with the D-Activator neck and bridge pick ups in it! These pups sound huge. They're loud with a lot of crunch and bite. They're very, very clear and are capable of awesome pinch harmonics! I have this running through a VK 112, so I get great tube sound along with them. These are an awesome metal pickup! You won't be disappointed!
