OVERVIEW

A different flavor for your Tele bridge pickup tone.

The DiMarzio DP384 Special Chopper Tele Bridge Pickup is the louder, punchier brother of the Fast Track T. More power is concentrated in the mids and low end for a bigger sound with more crunch. It shares the same side-by-side coils and twin-blade construction as the Fast Track T, so there are no string alignment or magnet-pull problems. And of course, there's no noise.

Not exactly the traditional Tele bridge sound, the Chopper T has less twang and more chunk. This makes for a solid blues sound. 250K controls (the usual value on most Teles) will produce a warm sound without much high-end bite: 500K controls will open the top end up more and brighten up the low strings as well.

FEATURES
  • Recommended for Standard Tele bridge position.

This is one of those great pickups that can do clean, but especially dirty and distorted tones very well. It's definitely not a thin, ice-picky, traditional tele-tone, but it still keeps the tele flavor (and to be honest, I've never dug the ice-pick tele thing). One thing I really like about it is how well it plays with the neck pickup...the middle position sounds amazing. Too many higher output type pickups don't play will with other pickups, but this one is an exception to that. Dimarzios customer service is also great, as I called them a couple of times to get some pickup advice. A highly recommended pickup.

Honestly I hate this pick up. Sorry guys. The tone is just blah. No twang at all. No single coil sparkle. Not a bit. About as much output as a PAF. If it sounded like a PAF I could live with it but it doesn't at all. This thing doesn't really have any personality. It's not a humbucker. It's not a single coil. It's definitely doesn't cut through like a Tele should. No sparkle. Very mid heavy but not in a good way. And I like my mids. No definition in the low end. It's kind of flubby. I thought "Hey if Richie Kotzen uses it it must be pretty good right?" Negative. Now I do have the twang king in the neck and I love it. So I'm not just a Dimarzio hater. This thing just left me flat. Bummer man.

Comments about DiMarzio DP384 Special Chopper Tele Bridge Pickup:

For sure the one of the best sounds I've ever gotten from any of my guitars (i have 6)If your a fan of Teles but you want more bite and power from your Tele. buy this pup. No flaws here.
Love the sound out of this thing! I recently aquired a MIM 94 Telecaster (off the side of the road!) and I put a lot of mods in it including this pickup. One word... amazing!!The sounds i get out of this are awesome. Clean its got that right amount of bite for a grungy clean sound. And distorted this think has enough versitility to cover Rock, Blues, and even Metal.Turned my Tele into a monster.
No flaws, easy to install.
Awesome value. this price for a great pickup that should be worth more.

Absolutely love this pickup

Comments about DiMarzio DP384 Special Chopper Tele Bridge Pickup:

So I recently bought the Fender Standard Telecaser which I happen to love. It def has the twang for sure clean or distorted but I needed less twang so that way my ax of choice would be balanced, so I bought this pickup and turned my Fender Tele knockoff into an Esquire. It sounds, if not, better than my Fender Tele. This pickup alone sounds great. You will not be disappointed.

I've had this pickup for around 5 years now, and it's by far the best pickup I've ever had in a guitar. It's in an Esquired American Standard with the three position wired for Series, split and parallel. Split is a nice single coil tele sound, bright, trebley and a but aggressive. Series is a whole different animal, sounding more like an SG than a Tele when you hook it up to a stack. Highly recommend it and would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Comments about DiMarzio DP384 Special Chopper Tele Bridge Pickup:

I agree that this pickup does a nice clean tone, and really sounds great dirty and distorted. It is not ice-picky at all. I put this in a Reverend Six Gun (older version) which had a typical single coil in bridge position. Before this one, I also tried an SD Hot Stack for Tele, and while it was an improvement, was still not quite the output and tone I was looking for. The Chopper T pretty much nails it for me. I could use just a bit more output, but I'm very satisfied. The Six Gun guitar has a bass contour knob, which really gives this a nice range of tone, along with varying the volume knob. I did not change any wiring or use any coil tapping, so it went right in the Six Gun. Coil tapping might be worthwhile, but I don't plan on bothering with it. Great pickup and I got 20% off, which always makes me happy.

Comments about DiMarzio DP384 Special Chopper Tele Bridge Pickup:

was hesitant to replace a stock tele bridge and neck pickup because i don't want to take away the vintage tele sound of the guitar. but i also got to the point that single coil pickups are just too noisy/hummy for my ear... so i had a friend recommend me this hum-cancelling pickup (chopper T) and i was blown away once it got installed (together with another hum-cancelling pickup Area T for the neck). Man, the tone got bigger but still has that vintagey sound of a tele. The sustain is longer when it SINGS! Sweet!

I am a guitar shop and one customer was looking for an upgrade to his Tele that would be louder and fatter without the darkness of a super hot pickup. There are few choices for this application and this pickup fit the bill perfectly.
