      OVERVIEW

Developed to give Joe the clarity and power he needs for chords and single notes.

The DiMarzio Joe Satriani Humbucker Set contains two well-designed pickups: the PAF Joe F-spaced (neck) and the Mo' Joe F-spaced (bridge). Easy to install, they'll bring a collection of Joe's favorite tones to your guitar while reducing noise.

      PAF Joe (neck)
The PAF Joe is the latest neck pickup DiMarzio developed for Joe Satriani. Joe wanted a neck position humbucker that combined the best qualities of the PAF Pro with those of a late 50s Gibson humbucker. Joe describes this tone as being "tubular." Through the use of Virtual Vintage technology, clear-sounding low frequencies are blended with warm-sounding mids and high frequencies, which makes the PAF Joe equally good for chords and single notes. Joe first used it throughout the 2003 G3 tour. It's recommended for all positions on solid, semi-solid and hollow-body electric guitars.

What does "tubular" mean? In this case, it means making low notes "speak" more clearly while giving high notes a rounder voicing. This accomplishes two goals: chords have better definition, and single notes at higher fret positions remain warm-sounding rather than getting thinner.

      Mo' Joe (bridge)
Joe Satriani has used FRED as his main bridge pickup for years. In 2005, Joe asked DiMarzio for a hotter and bigger version to replace the FRED in his new Ibanez guitars. The new model called the Mo' Joe is all about tone and definition. Its name says it all. It has more power than FRED but it doesn't sacrifice clarity or dynamics. Additionally, all the harmonics that made FRED so good are all there ready to jump out at the touch of a guitar pick. Having more output makes the Mo' Joe a perfect match for the PAF Joe in the neck position. The combination delivers great versatility and control from rhythms to solos. It's recommended for the bridge position on solid and semi-hollowbody guitars

The last few years have seen Joe develop a new signature tube amp and start using heavier-gauge strings more often. Both developments emphasized the importance of the Mo' Joe having a high degree of string separation without sounding sterile or processed. DiMarzio got this by slightly increasing the distance between the center frequencies that the coils are tuned to, without increasing DC resistance. The result is a pickup that's both hotter and more articulate.

Mo' Joe is used by permission of Mojo Musical Supply, with whom DiMarzio Inc. is not affiliated.

Comments about DiMarzio Joe Satriani Humbucker Set F-SP NK F-SP BRDG:

          Superb pickups.

I installed these in one of my guitars as a low output alternative to my other high output guitars.

The bridge sounds crisp without being brittle and the neck is that tubular, thick Satriani tone with a bit of top end sizzle and definition.

Comments about DiMarzio Joe Satriani Humbucker Set F-SP NK F-SP BRDG:

I replaced the stock pickups in my Ibanez rg with this set. The volume and tone control roll off with alot of versitility, allowing you to control the volume/tone from the guitar. I use the neck pickup for my clean sounds and the bridge pickup for rythme and leads in od. The pickups are clean and crisp. They allow you to mold your tone.

Comments about DiMarzio Joe Satriani Humbucker Set F-SP NK F-SP BRDG:

I have to give this set a 10 across the board. If you play smok'in rock leads, Heavy metal palm muting power chord rhythms, or pick pinching Pink Floyd leads, these pick ups wont let you down. The bridge PU is a lot like the FRED PAF that I put in my Gibson LesPaul years ago and I loved it. I put this set in my 2005 Gibson SG special and ran it through my RP14 processor then trough my Peavey delta blues amp miked through our PA and into a digi recorder at the last band practice. These PUs sound so sweet on the recording sizzling highs tight lows and predictable sweet feedback that is easy to place where and when you want it. So the bridge PU is smooth and glassy when you want it and raw and harmonic when you push it hard. The neck PU is a lot like the bridge PU w/more warmth and sounds all the notes all the way up the neck loud and clear. These PUs are "like candy - hot sweet and sticky". I havent giged w/these PUs yet as I am in the middle of putting a new band together but I'm shure everything will be OK.
