I had some Gibson Classic 57's in an Epi LP. They were nice pickups but a tad bright. At the suggestion of another Ibanez Archtop owner I bought these as they were touted as "Sounding Suspiciously like Ibanez Classic 58's. Beautiful, smooth and sweet tone that is not muddy in the least. Exactly what I was looking for in a Humbucker for my style of music (Classic Rock, Surf, Intrumentals, Country). I can't tell you how satified I am. I have tried so many types of pickups and these win out.
These are some nice pickups. The output is a slight bit hotter than some other PAF vintage humbuckers. The pickups are perfectly balenced between the neck and bridge for both output and EQ and work great with pedals. I got a set to put in a 2 humbucker Strat and was so impressed by how it turned out, I got another set to put in my Les Paul Standard.
